I will assume that if you have your original memory card and the original controller, you can plug it to the Analogue 3D and just copy the save file into the memory of the machine or SD card and keep all your save files there that are on the cartridge or memory card.
Expansion Pak doesn’t save games, it’s for graphics enhancements. The vast majority of popular N64 games save on the cartridge, and the rest save on a Controller Pak, which is the memory card that plugs into the controller. If you don’t have a Controller Pak, all your saves are on the cartridges.

I am not a fan of the modified controller. I would prefer a real N64 controller or knock-off. Even when trying old emulators with homebrew games, the current controller, Switch, PS5 and Xbox, aren't set up the same and those N64 games are all designed to take advantage of the way you can hold an N64 controller. Like using the Bow and Arrows in Ocarina of Time for instance. Or the control scheme for Turok 64. They really require an N64 controller. I would hope someone would make a new one that is USB, wireless, chargeable and maybe even make a plug in for the Nintendo 64 console itself that would allow you to use it on the N64 just the same. Built in battery with charge port. And although I am not a fan of it, RGB puke on clear models for fun. The one on display in this video is really close to what I typed but it's got a few flaws including not using the original shape.
I also love the original N64 controller for N64 games, and it's great that you can use original controllers with the Analogue 3D. I will assume that the N64 controller available for Nintendo online users will work with this, but it's very expensive and restrictive to buy, so ill just use an original wired one.
You can get the wired retro fighter controller, got the light green transparent one, it's beautiful, and you don't have to look at that ugly bucket like thing on your N64.
I got one of those too. it's the earlier V2 build right? with the thinner cord and the controller is light weight. I have the green one and the smoke one two. They came out with a 3rd version build later thats wired which they only have in grey and black now. I have those two and I noticed the cords are much more durable and the controllers themselves have more weight to them. Anyway, I only ever like to play n64 with cord controllers, that's just me. I have 4 hori pad minis and about 30 original funtastic controllers. I don't think I'll have room for any wireless controllers and I certainly am not getting rid of an original controller. I don't like having to make sure they are charged, especially before taking my n64 out to a friends house or gathering. plug'n play is my way.
@@0xEdwoods And everdrive x7 is 150$. That's all about 250. I'm not criticizing your choice. I use an upscaler very similar to the rad2x but come from s signal, the EON super 64. its a knockoff of the retrotink devices but it plug n play just like the rad2x. So I'm right there with you. Honestly, that's just fine. I was on the fence too. But I think the analogue is going to look better and it has CRT filters which I like and it's a newer system. Just very cool to have. But yea bro, I can appreciate keeping it OG. I'm sure I'll still play my original, especially on CRT.
At first I thought it was worth it when I assumed it was rendering 4K internally with all their advertising, but then I realized after researching more it's simply 240p *upscaled* to 4K - which will still look like an absolute blurry mess regardless. Not worth it to me despite having all my original N64 games still unfortunately.
The analogue 3D will look better than an original N64 with the retrotink 4k because the Av port on the N64 only outputs in Svideo, so the signal is already degraded. With the Analogue 3D, The upscaling happens directly from the original signal, so its 10x the original resolution with no signal degradation. Also, Analogue is saying that they have CRT filters like no other company to have a true CRT experience on a 4k TV. I guess we have to wait and see.
Actually that's not correct. The resolution will be 4k as 3D can be set for any resolution. No up-scaling is done what so ever. So the jaggy edge lines (aliasing) will be smaller. Now textures can be up-scaled but there's no info on whether or not Analogue 3D does that. Most likely there will options to turn off the blur texture feature that N64 has, so the image should look really good on an HDTV.
@@PoseMotion I'm not sure if I understand what you mean. These games are old ROMs, whether on a SD card or on the cartridge, the resolution is already defined in the ROM, the game is done so, the machine has to do some upscale of the original resolution in order to achieve higher resolutions than what's programmed on the ROM right? It's not an image stretch, it's an upscale, extra pixels are added to create a bigger image but no assets are changed whatsoever. Feel free to correct me if I'm wrong.
@@SuperLifeCorehow emulation works would be the change of internal resolution, yes the games are determined by resolution but even fpga tech overwrites these resolution limitations. It’s why the analogue pocket looks so crisp
@@PoseMotion It will look the same or close to an N64 with HDMI on a retrotink 4K which in my experience is still blurry and bad looking on modern displays. Internal resolution at 4K is the only way N64 will look good on 4K TV's similar to what emulation does. Imo the textures aren't an issue as they look fine when internal res is 4K on Project 64 for example.
This is a cash grab on nostalgic people...again. if you already own a n64 ( easy to get and cheap with a everdrive ) you don't need this. Maybe 50 years from now when N64 hardwares will get way too expensive..YES... But now NO! Put your money into your game collection on real old cartridges. That were your money is supposed to go.
Well, I believe that this will get jailbroken, so for 250 you get a 4k HDMI N64 that can run all games from a SD card better than the original n64. But I also love original hardware, in fact if i could only have 1 i absolutely would choose an original N64.
Theres more than ten good games WCW vs NWO World Tour WCW vs NWO Revenge WWF No Mercy Rampage 1 and 2 Turok 1,2 and 3 Banjo Kazooie and Tooie Bomberman 64 Road Rash 64 Mystical Ninja Gohman Kirby 64 Super Mario 64 Star Fox 64 Zelda Ocarina of Time and Majoras Mask Mario Kart 64 Hydro Thunder Wave Race 64 Resident Evil 2 Paper Mario 64 Rayman 2 Gauntlet Legend's Hexen Doom 64 The list goes on, people are trippin if they think there's only ten good games on the N64.
On Switch N64 games run on software emulation, that's why it looks better because they can put the 3D assets in native 4k. It's like the Raspberry pie I show here, the image is much better (but not has accurate) than original hardware even with scalers.

Just get an N64 with Everdrive and a RAD2X
That's going to cost the same 250 or more, I believe… But It's nice to have options.
@@SuperLifeCoreN64 is like $50 and rad2x is $49
@@0xEdwoods And everdrive x7 is 150$.
I’m starting from nothing soooo….yes for me.
If you love N64 I'm sure you'll like this console.
But I also love original hardware, in fact if i could only have 1 i absolutely would choose an original N64.
its not worth it.. Theres only like 10 good games......
true...but will still get it...for my collection of analogue products:P
Maybe only 10 good games but they are the best games of all time
Theres more than ten good games
WCW vs NWO World Tour
WCW vs NWO Revenge
WWF No Mercy
Rampage 1 and 2
Turok 1,2 and 3
Banjo Kazooie and Tooie
Bomberman 64
Road Rash 64
Mystical Ninja Gohman
Kirby 64
Super Mario 64
Star Fox 64

Gauntlet Legend's
Hexen
Doom 64
The list goes on, people are trippin if they think there's only ten good games on the N64.
I can tell u right now without watching. No.
15:30 Huh. If it looks like this on original hardware, I guess for the Switch version they improved the graphics some.
On Switch N64 games run on software emulation, that's why it looks better because they can put the 3D assets in native 4k. It's like the Raspberry pie I show here, the image is much better (but not has accurate) than original hardware even with scalers.
@@SuperLifeCore Interesting stuff. Can't wait to see what the upgraded Switch is capable of.
