ooh that operating system is nothing, go check out kde plasma, the best linux distro at the moment. mind blown the first time i used linux that something thats like 2 times better than windows is also free and i can see the source code. daily driver from now till forever
If you're just gonna be using it for retro and PC gaming aside from web browsing just use it for that

Excellent tutorial, especially explaining swap memory. I'd be thrilled to see some classic games from a GOG installer installed through Proton. This would give many access to some older PS3/360 era games that didn't get a port. *cough* repacks work on proton *cough*

Great vid! I understand this is nitpicky and more of a tutorial channel by the looks of it so completely understand if you don't want to (especially as most of it is mentioned in the intro, and clips are shown throughout the video anyway), but I feel a little "showcase" section of the video would be handy to show the different things you can do and a few clips of you doing them, just for those on the fence about if they want this or not. Could just hop to that timestamp rather than watching the whole 30mins to get to the end and realise its not for them

@@guillhermee i haven't bought it yet but im going to buy a 2tb ssd external trying to find a good brand and i think i have. I downloaded the one modded warfare showed in the video seems simple and good for me.

Team PSXITA have worked with developer Mircoho to fix performance issues of PS4 Linux on PS4 Pro on recent firmwares. They have released* binaries that should work as well as, if not better than, their equivalent on regular PS4s.
As strange as it might sound, Linux tends to be slower on PS4 Pro than regular PS4s. This is mostly for historical reasons, as the folks behind the original Linux support for PS4 (Team Fail0verflow, in particular Marcan who’s now working on Linux support for Apple Silicon) worked on regular PS4s 😅😅😅
How can you install a new distro to replace one you have currently installed?
Can I install on a SSD M2 to USB3 Adapter+M2 SSD instead of these standard usb to sata adapter enclosures for a SATA HDD?

I've tried everything and it states that it cant find some directory of some sort relating to fstab or whatever (dont fully remember what its called) [ HDD, same SB chip as yours ]

yo warfare my ps4 says bin server not enabled when i try to load any payload any ideas got it on in settings and have used a external payload launcher and works but can not load on the ps4
I think linux just bricked my ps4 pro, i was on linux went and rebooted to go to ps4 firmware and now after ps logo it stays on permanent black screen. All day been doing the power reset method and nothing, it keeps staying on black screen after checking disk and ps logo. Now i have the blinking blue light of death.
Saying bin loader server is not running when in 100 percent enabled as I used external payload loader on my pc any ideas

I did Arch on my 5.05 ps4 back in the day and it wasn't great. Glad to see it's doing a lot better! I might try this on my Pro which is just collecting dust (leaving my fat ps4 on 5.05)

Baikal is not only PS4 Pro but I also had it on PS4 Slim. I wonder if there are any Pros on something else than Baikal because I would like to install linux directly on the disk
This is great work although I feel it glosses over a few steps. I personally couldn't get it to boot for installing/updating, and then after install boot for using it for games/web browsing etc, without having a USB stick connected, something that persists. Not sure why, especially when both the USB stick and HDD initramfs are set for internal HDD and the correct files are in /user/system/boot as per the tutorial. Without the USB stick plugged in it literally shuts the PS4 Pro down after about ten seconds, without fail, every time, but with it plugged in it works perfectly. Any tips would be appreciated.
ok so i been messing around with my ps4 i have been able to get it to the blue light and flicker purplr every 2 seconds but i still have a black screen i have output to 1080p i laso tried 1080i same result i have all my settings just like modded warfare no signal i am doing it from internal HDD

Linux work great but when i tried to launch on tv not on monitor. It not work just show start up like like running strings with ok then i see black screen. my tv from hisense and ps4 Fat.

Why when you install Linux show you 7GB of RAM of you use a PS4 PRO Who have 10GB of RAM?
If i use an overclocked bzimage i will still have all the drivers? (bluetooth, etc)
Is there a possible fix for the black screen caused by HDMI? Nothing works, except restarting ps4
what about 11.50? Any update on that? Just got my dads old ps4 after giving him a ps5, and I wanna make it into a server for games and cloud storage since I got a pc which i prefer more. Unfortunately its running 11.50 software/firmware so I havent been able to find any way to do that.
A few extra things:
1. There is a fedora 39 btw. By the same dude, should be able to find it easily on TH-cam or the ps4 Linux discord.
2. There is a boottargs text file that should help for those who get the black screen, no matter what other things you tried. Again should be able to easily find that in the ps4 Linux discord.

after goldhen is loaded, you can unplug the raspberry pi... and, of course, you can use a charger on it

I gota ps4 with 11.00 update from my cousin.Unfortunately it suffers from very loud fan noise and i replaced the thermal paste with thermal pads and did a full clean up and managed to decrease the temperature from 88 to around 68 but the fan noise is still Unbearable / I'm looking for a way to decrease it using in software method and I don't think they all might work cuz i already tested the one in the package store and it didn't (they are not designed to work with 11.00) is there any way to? actually decrease the fan noises in 11.00?
Buy a better & more silent fan.
@@2psah2 shipping is the biggest concern + I'm not too confident in this solution, changing the fan speed using program would be better cuz i already know that the cooling pads are working and the console have a good ventilation airflow so no harm in decreasing the speed a bit

This doesn't work for me, I either get a black screen or if the shell does load I get the error message "mount -ro /newroot'' failed"
For anyone having issues with the install-linux-hdd shell script check your /dev folder bc your hdd could be mounted to a different location than the install script expected, my console mounted to /dev/sdb27 instead of /dev/sda27 so just use the vi command to change it

I had a USB plugged in and for some reason it will be sda and make the HDD sdb so just unplug the USB before trying to install
Hello Modded Warfare, i was wondering if you could help me do it on my ps4 that is getting stuck to blue led (and the occasional purple led flash) and i dont get any video.

Two possible issues:
Not doing the ps4 setting stated at the start
OR(less obvious)
U have to change out the bzimage for another one until u find a compatible one(extra ones are provided in the description of the video)
For me I had the second issue and ended up using the oldest bzimage of bez
After messing with this Linux (base ps4) it's just not worth it. When i got it up and running the first time, i was able to pull the hdmi cable out and plug it back in to see the desktop, but then it froze, tried it a second time but the hdmi method doesn't work and now I'm stuck using the F2 version of Linux. But the main reason it's not worth using is because when you reboot back to the ps4 it removes the jailbreak as well. Until goldhen is updated to when you can turn off the console without relying on rest mode, would anyone want to keep jailbreaking their console just to use a certain function? Probably not.

Since my database got corrupted and I rebuilt it, whenever I open my homebrew app, I get a black screen. I've reinstalled it multiple times. I just don't know why it's like that. Any fix for that? Help ya boy, lads.
