    I am 30,000 miles on the one I bought already. Way more fun and better on gas w the new exhaust n other mods. Two compliments on the ride home for speed n sound that nite like the first 3 years .
    Hope you like it as much as I do
    Be careful what one of the springs you load in that wastewater. Some will destroy the engine quick without building up the internals of the engine. I went for the everyday driver setting spring so to speak and it is still fun. Whistles and spits like you're riding a dragon w that one.
    Almost blew it up when the turbo almost melted through the vacuum line when the heat shield for that shifted

    Had one installed on my 2010 genesis with full BTR tune and 750cc injectors and had to remove it after 1 and a half years of use, only had 7k miles on it. Gotta love California emissions. Ended up selling the ecm, 750cc injectors, and tomei turbo kit for 700 dollars. Oh well.

      Currently in the process of doing a garret turbo upgrade. Bottom mount, stock manifold. Have questions with the solenoids, running a manual boost controller ok the wastegate, plugged the wastegate nipple on the solenoid. Any tips

    • @JustRandomCars
      @JustRandomCars  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@awautoworks4426 without a tune you will get a engine light. If your bov is connected to the stock solenoid it will open up as the ecu doesn't know how much boost is coming in. It won't let you build boost. We took off the solenoid after the tune. You can plug the nipple and see if it runs fine.

    I have a stock BK1. What would happen if I ONLY install the turbo?

    • @JustRandomCars
      @JustRandomCars  3 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      The ecu would throw a code for the bov as the tomei turbo doesn't have a bov but the turbo will work off the stock wastegate solenoid. So if you run it stock, the ecu won't let you build boost as the bov would be missing. Unless you install the bov on the cold side of the intercooler piping. Otherwise manual boost controller and tune will be needed. But getting full bolt on then turbo is a better option rather than running everything stock.

    just installed the same setup you have now. my car is missfiring constantly, i have a CEL for my wastegate, i was wondering what spring are you running?

    • @JustRandomCars
      @JustRandomCars  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I am running the stock spring it came with. Not sure which one it is exactly.
      You will need a tune for it as the bov isn't connected unless you run it off solenoid. Also check your vacuum line and see if the wastegate is not switched with the bov solenoid.
      Check your spark plug coil and cables.

    • @gagewilcox8773
      @gagewilcox8773 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@JustRandomCars oh okay thanks! i figured out the missfire issue but now have a overboosting problem, ill double check the vaccum line. only difference i have is the turbo xs blow off valve. i think it may be a boost controller issue. i have it on the lowest setting but the car has peaked at 26psi with about 50% throtle.

    Hey man, my stock genesis turbo took a shit so I’m debating upgrading. What would be the best turbo other than stock for a direct bolt on?

    • @JustRandomCars
      @JustRandomCars  3 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Hey, if you are keeping everything stock then a stuffed turbo is your best option. With the tomei turbo it gets rid if your bov unless you have it mounted on your intercooler. You will have an engine light for no bov and the ecu will cut the boost.
      You can look into stuffed turbo or a isr turbo kit or tomei turbo which mounts stock location. But you will have to change the manifold for the isr turbo unless you buy kit and run a bov off the intercooler for both isr and tomei.

    • @kruelzombieful

      What did you connect the bov hose that came off of the solenoid. I noticed you left the hose off.

    • @JustRandomCars
      @JustRandomCars  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@kruelzombieful We unplugged it after and plugged the solenoid as the Tomei turbo does not have a bov location. It threw a CEL and we couldn't build boost on the stock wastegate solenoid as the bov was missing. We drove it down to SFR and custom tuned it and custom made the flange for the bov on the intercooler piping.

    • @Wrx.Saddie

      @@JustRandomCars how were you able to drive the car without having atleast a basemap for the new turbo? I have the Arashi AR3 turbo waiting to install in my car along with injectors, fuel pump, boost controller. I am also BK1

    • @JustRandomCars
      @JustRandomCars  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@Wrx.Saddie We installed the turbo and plugged the wastegate to the stock actuators. The bov was left unplugged so we couldn't build any boost since the bov was not on the turbo like the oem. So we drove lightly to the tune shop with the turbo installed.
      As for the fuel pump, it should work fine without tune. As for the injectors. Install them at the tune shop as you'll flood the engine if you install them now without tuning.
      We did the turbo and fuel pump(aem 320) and were able to drive but with no boost since the ecu was opening and closing the wastegate since so bov was attached.
      We installed the manual boost controller and injectors at the shop as you can see in my SFR tune videos.
      Go to your tune shop and install the boost controller for your turbo there along with the injectors and have them tune it then.

    • @JustRandomCars
      @JustRandomCars  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      I have the turbo vaccum lines running to a manual boost controller. The bov I am running off the manifold and I have it welded to my intercooler piping.
      If you install this turbo and don't have a intercooler side BOV then it will keep giving you an engine light and you will need to get tuned as more air will be pushing through.

    • @Detectivetailz
      @Detectivetailz 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@JustRandomCars I have an hks on cold side, the hks line going to solenoid. It’s the vacuum line that would go to the bpv I have capped off, what do I do w that line, and which line from that solenoid do I plug into the turbo, or the actuator.

    • @JustRandomCars
      @JustRandomCars  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@Detectivetailz I don't remember exactly which solenoid is which. Genesis coupe forums have pics of that.
      But the bpv is your bov, I believe its the left side solenoid goes to yout turbo/wastegate as it would stock. The top nipples on both solenoids are where it connects to your wastegate and bov. The hks won't work on the stock solenoid and will throw an engine light unless you upgrade the solenoid. I don't use either solenoid since I am tuned. But you will need to run the hks line to the manifold and cap off your bov solenoid and run your wastegate line to the turbo and it reroutes back to the solenoid if I recall correctly. Diagrams for the lines routing can be found on the gen coupe forums.
