I met you a couple days ago at the axialfest concourse. And said hi. While there I picked up that king of the hammers bomber for $350. I liked it, but thought it was slow. The first motor replacement I thought of was the HH 8T 5 pole. I did a simple search for "axial bomber 8 turn 5 pole". And yours was the first video to come up. So thank you for the information. Seems pretty good. Can't go wrong with Holmes brushed motors. I run 27T TrailMaster Sport 550 in my bomber and love it. Ran the 21T before too and liked that as well.
Nice video as always, i actually use same 8t in my Bomber too on the stock esc.. works good for bashing around with speed, but with low speed heavy rockcrawling until the slipperclutch kicks in sometimes, the motor gets a bit hot.. not sure about the Esc yet.. but im throwing in a HW 1080 esc soon and trying again. :) had same issue with the Hh 12t until i got a 1080 esc on it, then the motor got a lot more cooler for crawling.

Sway bars are always a compromise, especially in any off road situation. Maybe Treal can make a sway bar with a quick disconnect(body clip).....just like a high end 1:1 rig😎
I love how easy you are to entertain !! Donuts on the work bench ! That motor is capable of so much more ! Change the pinion. And dump that front sway bar. It's way too stiff. Bombers love to boogiloo.
lol, its about to be brushless, I'm still a bit undecided on keeping the front bar in the end but for now I gotta keep it in there. I'll be using the 8t in the 10.3 soon, just got more videos to wrap up

I built a wraith with yeti rear links and a 2 speed transmission with a metal cage that looks identical to the bomber might be the ideal build an i run 2.2 proline super swampers tsl but the xl size she weights 15lbs and is a class 3 an she holds her own Alice RDE!

didn't get a finger on the esc but with the motor barely warm like that I didn't see a need to go further with it. Keep in mind a 5slot 13t is like a 27t 3 slot in speed, so I'd guess this is about like a 21t 540 normal 3 slot design but with cooling fan and 550 size torque
How's the run time with the 8t motors? Trying to decide between to sport 8t or 10t for my Element Gatekeeper. I am stock rtr with the original Reedy motor. I watched you comparison on the 10t vs Reedy stock motor. Now I just need to decide 8t or 10t.
Any overheating issues? I have a Crawlmaster Sport 12T 550 and a 1080 ESC that I am thinking about putting in my Bomber. I have the metal 68T spur gear. What would you suggest? Would the 8T be okay? I would like to have some speed but also do some crawling. Thanks
was this with the stock spur gear? 12t/64 spur? I just roasted my 8t after 2 3s lipos of medium duty with the stock gearing it went up in smoke! went to a 11t/68 hopefully that fixes it
Are there any overheating issues with the 550? Im considering a 12 turn in my bomber but with the stock 35 turn I can run through a battery pack without overheating at all. I dont know if I want to risk it.
Are there any other brushed motors out there that I can find that could provide my TRX4 sport with this kind of speed?🤷🏼♂️ I juts feel like my truck is too slow but I don’t wanna go brushless 🤦🏼♂️

Its about to be brushless once I take this motor out and put it in the 10.3
I ran the HH 8T in my Bomber, lasted maybe an hour on 3s. Upgraded to brushless from a Redcat Wendigo. Now it's a beast.

Another option to add along with the rear sway bar is another set of shocks in the rear without springs. (helps with the big jumps)
I saw those spots, do you know what would fit that as a bolt on option?

the esc is a re branded ae5 which is basically an old 1060
that makes sense. I wish they'd just put a 1080 in there and be done with it

Might get more speed if you swap in a hw1080. Did it on my wraith and straight away it made it faster which was unexpected. But it did .

How has it held up long term? How long before u had to replace the plastic spur gear?
Still together and so far I haven’t had to replace any gears.

Unsoider it you forgot your black power resistant ... When your run it your power from intake on motor leaks off the wire causeing interferance .

If you go 5slot you can do a 10t in there.

Well you can try the Holmes 12t Trailmaster Sport. That one can really get them faster but heat can be an issue if you push it too far.
