My youngest son has an 8t in his honcho. It probably has over 500 actual miles on it. Its been to beat the creek 3 or 4 times now and crawling/trailing every weekend. One trail is 8 miles walking and we spend hours there and you know his little tires are going 100 mph. When we go to btc he tells everyone its not a honcho its a submarine. If theres water over the body he will find it. If theres goopy nasty mud he will find it. But somehow that poor motor, esc, and servo keep on trucking. It really is a testament to holmes, isdt, and whatever the servo is. Heck probably the original spektrum or twister or whatever. Hed bust a knuckle every time we went somewhere until i put a metal front axle on it. Now its been bulletproof for him

Ive been on the mountain top preaching about these motors for several years now! We take them out on long trail runs on 3s all the time! I have always wanted to try them on 4s and now I just hear you say thats ok!! im going to try it with brxl for sure! if you are starting out and want a REALLY nice set up that will last try these motors with the brxl or with the Hobbywing 1080!

I run Crawlmasters in most of my families rigs. They are my first thought whenever I need a brushed motor. Our fleet has at least 6 motors that have survived the last 3 Axialfest Badlands, with all the water, mud, dust, and being driven by kids!

My experience with the 12t 550 was mind-blowing. I had one in my redcat ascent with a copperhead 10. It is the smoothest combo I've ever felt in any rig, with plenty of wheelspeed. I've since just installed the crawlmaster BL 2700kv and am also loving that. But I was more than happy with the 20 dollar motor.

Will also add, if you are prone to playing in puddles, these sealed cans are way more appropriate. Rebuildable motors with those snug brush hoods are prone to getting hung brushes when the gritty water gets in there, but with brushes suspended on C springs, not a problem.

Got a 540 16t in my Vanquish Phoenix and I absolutely love it, I put my first 5 slot a few years ago in my Vaterra Ascender and fell in love instantly with how smooth they are, especially with the Hobbywing 1080 esc (yet have to try a HH esc)
My kid will probably get a Crawlmaster in his 10:3 soon too, the stock Axial motor is too fast to crawl properly with 😃

Running the same crawlmaster 550 for 3yrs through water, mud, sand, snow.....I couldn't tell you how many miles but it's up there. Never, ever stop making these, for folks that run an actual four seasons they can not be beat. I have them in my six most used/abused rigs all on the original motors purchased. Life long customer for sure.

12 turn 550 trail master sport is the one i bought first, and it served me well. So well its still going strong after 4 years....actually might be 5 years...well since they came out with trx4 kits......so i got a 12 turn 550 crawlmaster sport and a 21 turn 550 trail master sport. Me and my son put them through 3-4 hours of trailing at a time. (probably 400 actual miles in the last 3 years)

Glad you said this! I just bought the 12T 550 from our local dealer to go in my RGT RESCUER, two speed - and I believe it will be that much better than the stock motor.. Having tested the FOC brushless motors I like the “feel” of a brushed motor. If I like it, it’ll go into two of my TRX 4/6 as well.

I burned up a crawlmaster sport in 2 years. Used on on my scx10.3 kit on a 1080wp on 3s. I’ve been to the top of mountains to the bottom. In and out of muddy water weekly. We run 6 hours at a time from 50 degrees to 110 degrees plus. The only other motor I think about is the crawlmaster pro… eventually.

love em, hard to justify spending more...
don't think I've killed one yet..
maybe one of the kids rig is a little more worn..
but they are not gentle full throttle back yard ripping in element rigs..
even put them in a few ARRMA's when their motors burn out which is very quickly.

I love the Crawlmaster Sport 550s and hidden audio tracks! I have 6 of them (mostly 13T and one 12t). Looking at a 15t for my custom Redcat gen8/9 based 2 speed 6x6 with dual duallies. 10 wheels for the win! Underdrive ring/pinion gears in all 3 axles. The 2 speed will be more of a "granny gear" and normal speed. This will be a flatbed tow rig and tractor weight sled puller Just because so 550 15t. Later on maybe an upgrade to one of your brushless systems if the brushed isn't "pulling its weight" 😉.

I own a bunch but I have one 12 turn 550. That’s going on six years old. It’s in my top truck challenge rig ! It gets good maintenance . But it’s been beat hard. And every spring I think about putting a fresh motor in. But I don’t and she just keeps rolling.
I only have one of my 10 trucks that don’t run a form of holms , hobbies motors. And it’s a castle system. Which will be my last. Such problems with the sensor system anyway, I personally would like to thank you for making something quality in this world of cheap and fast.

I'm guilty of taking off the back iron inorder to install a heatsink. Trying to 'help' my motor by keeping it cool.
TIL that shield is for more than protection against dinging the magnets like I thought.

I have the 550 that came in my Marksmen & I have 3 CrawlmasterExpert 540 16T one burned up still has that lovely fried smell but it was completely my fault the other 2 are awesome I have one in a TRX Sport & one in a SCx10 3 older Bronco all paired with 1040 esc’s. And I have a Brushless 540 Puller Pro V2 2700k with a Mamba X for a esc I haven’t even ran it yet but I can’t wait to get it in a tune it. The prices are unreal sometimes you have to do a double take to make sure the prices are correct but the product is very very good. I do hear haters out there saying the motors are cheap & burn up but I’ve not experienced any of that. Any tips for the Mamba Puller Pro set up? Thanks 👍
