Cool tip i figured out. Just turn your music up really loud and the ticking stops! That easy

Same problem hit me when I started my trip from uk to lithuania (2000km/1200mi) with my car. You cannot imagine the noise I was supposed to listen while driving 90/130kmh for 22 hours. The solution that I found most helpful by far was turning the music volume to max.

I love that you cut the boot open and cleaned it up to show it to us, now I can pair the noise with a visual - now that sound makes perfect sense. Thanks.

I just left my car with a mechanic for 6 hours who said my car is fine even though my car has been making this noise for months. I knew he was wrong.

Thank you for verifying! I had replaced the front shocks and still heard the noise. I was thinking probably axle. And yep, because I hear the sound when I’m turning mainly at low velocities like going into a driveway or when I’m turning the wheels to park in reverse.

That’s a real pop! I have a 2016 Scion tC and it’s more of a high pitched clink when I turn my wheel a solid rotation rather than a popping noise like in the video...

I had a car that had that noise. I felt the front of the car drop down. The next day I drove the car those balls rolled from under the tire. I took the used cv parts to auto zone in 3 pieces the guy looked at me and said if you was driving that car like that your lucky to be alive.

I remember hitting a bump/potholes with a focus and I left part of the ball joint at a intersection in San Antonio lol. It was slinging grease all over my rims. My rav4 is making a loud thunk popping and rattling on certain roads turns and accelerating.

Excellent vid best one for cv joints clicking by far. One of my passenger side cv boots had split, i ignores it and it lead to getting a new driveshaft. Not really dear though 61ukp for brand new driveshaft with 2 years guarantee for Z20LET engine. Its getting fitted in 1 day, Wednesday 17th February 2021 as the clicking is now terrible.

This really helped me understand what that noise is in my 2018 Ford Edge. Still under powertrain warrantee, I brought it into Ford dealership and they said my CV Boot is leaking, and they will replace it in 2 weeks after parts come in. They said that it is such a small leak, it will be ok for me to drive it to Key West Sunday, 500 miles each way. But I have been hearing this sound for a year or so. And how does he know how long it has been leaking? He didn't mention anything about the bearings, he said I just need my Boot replaced, but I do have that sound in my right drivers wheel when I turn. What do you or anyone else think? I believe it has been leaking for over a year. It has about 55,000 miles on it. Is it safe to drive? Update. I just went out and crawled under ant looked at the boots and axle. They all look clean and new and there is no grease splattered or leaking anywhere. The axle is not loose. The only thing is that when I make a sharp right turn, I hear 2 or 3 little pops

Great video with details! My Subaru Forester was making similar noises when turning at slow speeds. My mechanic said the axle needs to be replaced. My car was lifted 2" so I'm wondering if that could have caused the damage like this too?

I was told my boot was torn but I didn’t think anything of it now after 5 months 😵‍💫 (I know) I’m hearing clicking for 2 days from passenger side . I’ve seen online that my car could stop driving or moving . I’ve ordered the part but now I’m nervous to drive anywhere . Should I be concerned after only two days of the sound?

I re-did my outer boots and added OEM Honda grease and after a few weeks click started, before it wasn’t there only torn boots, my guess is too much grease leaked out and joint got worn or I didn’t put enough grease but I used all that came with kit 😳

When I'm downshifting / engine braking no noise and acceleration no noise. Note new bearings on driven wheels and new rotors and pads all the way around 90s acura cl

I was stuck in deep sand in my FWD 4 cylinder van last month. Trying to get out I heard a few loud pops. I drove it home and now when the van has been parked for a while, when I first try to back out or drive off it makes a single popping noise, like a knuckles dislodging. After it makes the noise it does not make it again while driving.. i drove 300 miles stopping at countless intersections and it never made the noise until the following morning backing out of a parking space. Anybody got any ideas?

This just happened to me (5-24-21) on my way to a doctor's appt ..I was driving, then stopped at red light. When the light changed, I accelerated, my car jerked, there was a loud knocking , grinding sound and my car only went 5 mph then stopped completely. I thought it was the transmission going out, so I was very upset. I had the car towed to my mechanic thinking I was going to have to get a new transmission on my old 2002 Toyota Camry which has 152,000 miles on it. My mechanic asked me to describe what happened and what it sounded like. He then looked under the car and said it wasn't the transmission; it was the CV joint. I was relieved. I was able tp pick up my repaired car the next day. However, my cv joint was so badly damaged, he said it was the hardest time he ever had with a car trying to get the old cv joint off, so the labor was a bit more than usual, also, I needed Freon , so my whole cost, parts and labor, was $547.00

Hey man. Will you take a look at the last video I uploaded? I'm trying to diagnose a clicking sound in my 2016 Mustang GTPP. I have ruled out axle nuts or anything obtrusive. It's a clicking sound coming from the rear. Does not affect drivability. Does not do it if the car is in neutral.
