So no using modern tools, do it with what they had back in 2000 B.C. It would be a huge tourist attraction and also a major jobs program. Young men identifying as conservative is neither new nor a surprise to me. I'm in my seventies, and I originally identified as "conservative" because I was disturbed by the Marxists on campus. I was even more hostile to the racists/segregationists but didn't consider them conservative because their beliefs and actions were reactionary and contradicted the Declaration of Independence, the Constitution as amended and the equal rights laws. My definition of conservative was defending the core principles of our foundational documents as they have evolved. So-called conservatives wanted [and still want] to roll the clock back to a largely mythical time.
@@Oldleftiehere Times, experience, education, and travel are all part of such changes. Not everyone is able or willing to change. I haven't changed very much, I still think that Marxists and reactionaries are just the same poison under different labels with similar ingredients and sales pitches.
@@darlenegriffith6186 We are similar in that respect, except that running into arrogant, doctrinaire Marxists is what turned me away from calling myself a "socialist." The characteristics that are identical to the far left and far right are dislike of democracy, unrealistic views of human nature, elitism, and the desire to control everything and everyone. Libertarianism is just as doctrinaire, just as hostile to democracy, and equally wrong about human nature and the meaning of society. So, I am probably a free thinker, agnostic and humanitarian.
I too, used to be much more conservative in my youth, but the Overton window moved and the conservative principals of financial responsibility, Constitutional values and social tolerance became "Liberal Bull Shit." So, I guess I'm much further to the left now.

"Moderate" One of most consistent comments Masters and Johnson found was that over the wide range of sexual behavior they observed, most people saw themselves as normal, moderate. When I was a kid our local TV ran The Dan Smoot Report, a rightwing commentator. He related how he pushed the limits when he auditioned for his boss, a Texas dogfood magnate, taking his most extreme position. His boss's reply was "that's good boy. Just keep pitching them down the middle of the road". Moderate is relative. Besides, with all the homophobic hate speech directed at liberals, what young man would want to identify as such?
This doesn't directly have anything to do with the subject matter in this video, but, when Beau mentioned the ridiculous allegations about Taylor Swift, it made me think about the fact that I am so very thankful that I don't have to hear about Tucker Carlson every day now. I really do appreciate that.
I think with the survey with young men being conservative and young women being liberal, we're going to be seeing a lot of those young men switch to liberal once they realize they're not going to be getting laid much.
The people who have been convinced to believe absurdities have also been primed to commit atrocities. We should be mindful and careful. Might be nice if people thought about the causes of things. Things don't usually 'just happen'. Someone or something *causes* a thing to happen. US politics didn't just become toxic and polarized. People *made* it that way. BTW, it's not a "British" pronunciation. It is the *correct* pronunciation. English speakers just tend to not GAF how other languages are spoken, or even enjoy mocking them intentionally.
The BBC used to have a department where people would check out the right pronunciations and pass them on, at least, to the journalists on the news. But I think that, unfortunately, it doesn't exists anymore.

An Italian professor I had at university often joked that he was from Eye-taly. That aside, once upon a time when English phonics was taught in school, we learned the rule of vowels being 'long' if they proceeded a single consonate that, in turn, was followed by another vowell. If one becomes aware of how a foreign word is pronounced in its native tongue, we have 2 choices: either make a conscious effort to remember to say it like it's said by a native speaker OR disregard it intentionally (perhaps out of disrespect or arrogance) or unintentionally (old habits die hard).
As to pronunciation, its just a matter of knowing that vowel sounds in other languages are different from english a, e, i, o, u. Most other languages pronounce the vowels as - ah, eh, ee, o(o is only similarity), oo and these can sometimes still be sounded different if there are accent marks above or below the vowel as with some vowels in French words eg. Café. Iran and Iraq are not english words and Beau respecfully pronounces them as they should be.

Some incoming anecdotal experiences; when I was an 18 year old male, I got my cherry popped into politics by becoming a libertarian. I remember participating on an online youth political poll, and despite me choosing against banning of gay marriage, agreeing with the separation between church and state, etc. The conclusion of those polls said that I was a conservative... Since then I've never trusted these polls, unless they excruciatingly explain their methodology, and have a decent track record.

I live about 70 miles from Prague, OK, and I didn't feel it this time, despite feeling a different 5.0+ a few years ago. No injuries and only minor damage from what I've heard (exterior brick, cracked drywall, things like that). The Oklahoman reported it as an "earthquake swarm" of around 40 between Friday and Saturday morning. This is not the first earthquake to center around Prague. Two lawsuits resulting from a Prague earthquake in 2011 alleging the earthquake was a result of wastewater disposal wells (a byproduct of fracking) were settled out of court in 2017 and 2023 (the defendants were two oil and natural gas companies). You'd think that Oklahoma of all places would be a bit more cautious about mining practices, considering the history of mining companies literally destroying towns here. My grandmother grew up around Picher, OK, where mines were dug under the town, creating sinkholes and 100ft+ tall piles of lead contaminated waste rock called chat that STILL exist all over town, all just to mine zinc for ammunition.

You don't "renovate" the Pyramids! You restore, you reinforce. You do not renovate. Next they'll be wanting to paint the Sistine Chapel.
it was intended as a restoration, no idea where people got the word "renovate" from. The pyramid in question had rough hewn granite casing stones around the lower part that have been removed over time, and there was an attempt to demolish the entire pyramid in the 12th century that left it horribly scarred on the outside
Or find a new site and just build some new ones! Imagine what a tourist attraction that would be. If if the modern Egyptian government embarked on the grandest experimental archaeological project in history, attempting to build an entirely new version of the ancient pyramids, but using only authentic period tools and equipment. So no using modern tools, do it with what they had back in 2000 B.C. It would be a huge tourist attraction and also a major jobs program. Hell, you might be able to get people to sign up from all over the world to help with the project. There's probably a few college kids who would take a summer abroad to go help build a pyramid by hand.
@@TanyaLairdCivilNowhere near worth the cost, time, manpower, and probably lives it'd cost to make them the old way. No tourist trap is worth the amount of effort people will put into a project out of religious fervour
The population of modern Egypt is 100 million. Estimates are that the population of ancient Egypt was about 2 million. Even without using modern materials, reproducing an ancient pyramid today would be far easier in comparative terms. Yes, ancient Egypt could only sustain such an effort through religious fervor. But when your population is 50 times larger, and probably 500 times wealthier, it becomes a lot easier to sustain such projects.

Yours was my path as well. Times do change the conversation, don’t they?
@@Oldleftiehere Times, experience, education, and travel are all part of such changes. Not everyone is able or willing to change. I haven't changed very much, I still think that Marxists and reactionaries are just the same poison under different labels with similar ingredients and sales pitches.
I'm much more liberal than I was in my younger days. One of the main reasons is the far right direction that the Republican Party is taking.
No your dating videos aren't your best. They're fun but I value your take on foreign affairs, political issues & your "Be Prepared" videos. You are a national treasure.

"Moderate"
One of most consistent comments Masters and Johnson found was that over the wide range of sexual behavior they observed, most people saw themselves as normal, moderate.
Beau: pronounces a foreign country’s name correctly.
Someone who probably puts Eye-talian dressing on their salad: why you no speak ‘Murican?
I guess when you hire a real estate lawyer for a civil case, you get what you paid for.
Will they change behavior or will they just make false claims?
We just dunno.
A bit of both?
@@paolagrando5079 The BBC's Pronunciation Unit certainly does still exist. The day you hear a BBC announcer say "skedule" rather than "shedule" you'll know they've dispensed with it.
in Canada people who watch American news and are usually more than a little bit racist use the American pronunciation and people who went to school further than 5 blocks use the correct pronunciation.
@@captain34ca As an American, I have the same understanding about correct pronunciations. I have a doctor who immigrated many, many years ago from the Middle East (somewhere). Words and names in Semitic languages (both Hebrew and Arabic are Semitic languages) usually put the accent on the second syllable. I pronounce my doctor's name accordingly. It grates on me when everyone is pronouncing his name as if it where an English name with the accent on the first syllable.

That "looking for an identity" isn't just confined to young people. It's rampant now. I think quite a few go running after things because it's trending or they think it's "edgy". It's a trap and also why so many get taken in by nonsense when they actually know better.

I for one, would welcome "MST3K: With Beau and friends"
Yes plz!😂
As to pronunciation, its just a matter of knowing that vowel sounds in other languages are different from english a, e, i, o, u. Most other languages pronounce the vowels as - ah, eh, ee, o(o is only similarity), oo and these can sometimes still be sounded different if there are accent marks above or below the vowel as with some vowels in French words eg. Café. Iran and Iraq are not english words and Beau respecfully pronounces them as they should be.
Thank you Beau for the more light hearted news on a Sunday morning. I love to see you smile and chuckle.😊

So for us old farts are fully cooked, for better or worse, you can turn off the oven and live with the results.
The U.S. and U.K. helped overthrow the democratically elected government in Iran in 1953 and reinstalled the Shah for oil rights for BP. We are dealing with those actions today because it allowed extremists to eventually take over.
Indeed. Truman refused but Eisenhower signed up. One of Teddy Roosevelt's son was in on it as was Churchill. How sad for all of us, as you mentioned. We are still suffering the consequences.
I'm surprised MTG hasn't called for the impeachment of Taylor Swift.
