  • This Benz is stuck in LIMP mode and won't go faster than 30 mph! This is actually a common issue and an easy repair for these cars. In today's video I'll be replacing the transmission conductor plate on this 2000 Mercedes C230k with the 4-speed automatic 722.6 transmission. These transmissions can actually be very reliable and cheap to maintain. Even this repair really didn't cost too much.
    This repair is the same for all C-Class, E-Class, M-Class, S-Class, SL-Class, & Sprinter from '97 to '14.
    If you're in too deep on your own car or just need the info on your vehicle, check out these repair manuals. A very useful tool to have for any car - shrsl.com/43l4o
    As always, I provide links to all the parts, tools and scanners in this video.

    Please note that working on the transmission requires mechanical expertise, and it is recommended to consult a professional or refer to the vehicle's service manual for detailed instructions. Nevertheless, here is a general step-by-step guide:
    Note: Ensure you have the necessary tools, a replacement conductor plate compatible with your vehicle, and a clean working area before starting the procedure.
    1. Park the car on a level surface and engage the parking brake.
    2. Disconnect the negative terminal of the battery to prevent any electrical mishaps during the process.
    3. Safely raise the vehicle using a jack and secure it with jack stands.
    4. Locate the transmission conductor plate. It is situated on the top of the transmission, underneath the transmission oil pan.
    5. Drain the transmission fluid. Then remove the transmission oil pan. This typically involves removing bolts around the pan's perimeter.
    6. With the pan removed, locate the conductor plate. It will be attached to the valve body.
    7. Disconnect the electrical connector from the conductor plate.
    8. Remove the bolts securing the conductor plate to the valve body. Keep track of the location and order of the bolts, as they may vary.
    9. Gently lift the old conductor plate out of the valve body.
    10. Clean the valve body thoroughly to remove any debris or dirt that may have accumulated.
    11. Take the new conductor plate and align it with the valve body. Ensure it is positioned correctly before proceeding.
    12. Secure the new conductor plate in place by tightening the bolts according to the manufacturer's specifications. Use a torque wrench if necessary.
    13. Reconnect the electrical connector to the conductor plate, ensuring it is properly seated and secured.
    14. Reinstall the transmission oil pan, making sure to use a new gasket.
    15. Start the car. Refill the transmission with the appropriate amount and type of transmission fluid as specified by the manufacturer.
    16. Lower the vehicle from the jack stands and remove the jack.
    17. Reconnect the negative terminal of the battery.
    18. Hook up OBD Scanner to the 38-pin connector and reset the fault codes in the TCU (transmission control module)
    19. Start the engine and check for any transmission-related issues or warning lights.
    20. Take the vehicle for a test drive to ensure the transmission is functioning properly.
    21. Check fluid level after test drive. Adjust if needed.

      Hello I have a question, i changed the plate in the transmission 722.6 and I bought a icarsoft scanner and the adapter, yes it took it outa limp mode and it's changing gears smooth, but the check engine transmission code keeps coming back, what do you think??

    Honestly you'd be spending the same/more to have a shop reset the codes for you, so even using that scanner this one time already pays for itself! I've been meaning to buy one myself, but for now I'll just annoy my friends to borrow theirs lol

    Hello
    Do I need to do the program after replacing the conductor plate with a new one, or do I already have the program in the new conductor plate
    What should I do if I have to do a program?

    • @Mechani_Cole
      @Mechani_Cole  8 หลายเดือนก่อน +2

      No programming needed as far as I know. But you do need the correct scanner to be able to access the transmission control module for the reset to get to rid of the code and get it out of limp mode.

    I have P0741 code on my gearbox oil was really bad so i change it now looks better but do i need also to change this plate, because torque converter is fine gearbox is shifting smoothly no weird noise no nothing so i don't know what the issue can be

    • @Mechani_Cole
      @Mechani_Cole  หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      Either way, you need the proper scanner and adapter to reset the code. It won't reset on its own

    Will this work on my 98 e430 turbine sensation circuit a is what the engine code came up as??

    • @Mechani_Cole
      @Mechani_Cole  7 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Yeah, most likely. As long as you have the correct computer to reset the codes after. A regular scanner doesn't work. On the valve body (in your transmission) you will find a plastic plate, which carries the input and output speed sensors. This plate is known to crack around the input speed sensor. Hence your problem and the lock down in second gear. The repair for this means removing the tranny fluid/oil pan/filter/valve body and lastly the electronics plate. Then replace the plate, and refit all other parts. Hope this gives you a starting point🫡

    I have a 2005 e350 4matic ... Is it absolutely necessary to replace the conductor plate every time or can the tcm be reset without doing that just to get it out of limp mode ?? Basically I'm just asking if it can be done without having to tear it down ??

    • @Mechani_Cole
      @Mechani_Cole  4 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      Always try a reset first, sometimes it works if you have the proper scan tool. Then if that doesn't work, more work is needed
