  • Josh walks us through replacing the valve body plate and the TCM plug on the widely used 722.6 transmissions found in thousands of Mercedes cars from the late 90s to mid-'00s. eEuroparts.com carries the plate and plug itself, as well as a kit.
    Go to eEuroparts.com if your Mercedes Benz is having trouble shifting correctly, and get back on the road safely with this fix! A dealer or Authorized MB service center TCM reset is required for the fix to take. Most likely the car will be stuck in 1st gear until the transmission is reset.
    Shop for Mercedes parts at eeuroparts.com/cars/mercedes-...
    If you are having trouble reinstalling the valve body, take care to have the shifter pins aligned as demonstrated in this video: • 722.6, NAG1, W5A580, T...

      @@Eeuroparts @ 5:25 a ball bearing is falling out, and it's still there @7:10, so where does it come from? Because i'm going
      to do the same job to my transmission next week, so this ball popping out worries me.
      Btw, how did the car run, without that ball bearing? Because i didn't see you refit it.

    Thanks for the video. This was the most physically challenging repairs I have ever done because I had to do it on 2 jackstands and my shoulders are tanked. I still don't have the ATF topped off. I added 3.7 quarts, then 200ml at a time. But I have to wait a long time to get an accurate measurement with the dipstick because the ATF kind of clings to the fill tube. Anyway, my P0715 code is gone and it shifts! Thanks for a great video.

    have a CLK 2006, and it's got stuck in 'get you home mode'. Started doing strange things two years ago, switching off and on again restored normal operation for about a year. Then it started again, same thing. Suddenly got worse now locked in some sort of default. Tried to reset it, even worse now!...... 60K miles only, light use. I assume the Transmission Valve Body Plate and Plug have gone wrong. Am I in the right area. If I replace the unit and service the box with fresh oil and filter, will the computer go back to it's original setting. Some advise would be very helpful indeed.

    I've taken off the pan and found a different gearbox from your description, on the valve body is written AB-AA-AAAAA. It has the plug, but it is sitting vertically! After draining the fluid & removing the pan, I then set about disconnecting the plug from hell. Yes, it was soaking wet with transmission oil! There is one orange ring in the plug & it's damaged! We are talking of a seven speed transmission. What to do?...... I wonder whether I can just replace the seal, plug it all back in, re-fill with new filter & hopefully the reset will work?....... Really hoping you might know or have a vidio on this 7 speed box!........ Thank you in advance.

    Josh, hopefully you're checking this. Of the 6 solenoids, it's obvious which two are the pressure solenoids based on shape alone, but the other 4 - the Lockup, 2/3, 1/2&4/5 and the 3/4, are those four solenoids interchangeable? I've noticed slightly different part numbers and didn't know if those might just be MB revision numbers or if there are specific ones for each of those 4 solenoids. I got an unusual condition just 24 hours after installation in that when downshifting (say 4th to 2nd), the trans shifted real hard then revved but it didn't actually downshift. I immediately put it in neutral and coasted to a stop. I re-engaged into drive and all was fine. Won't try it again but I'm wondering if I have a misplaced solenoid or even a bad one from the kit I bought. Thanks!

    Great video! Thanks. A couple of questions. Do the solenoid hold down bolts require torquing? Second, should the solenoids be inspected and tested when I have them out? I figured it might be a good idea, especially on an older car.

    • @les536
      @les536 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      I did this same job twice e500 and s500 I tested the solenoids cleaned the screens and installed the sonnax kits one very important point he does not mention in the video is the gear selector it has to fit back into the groove on the selector or your gears will not work and if you install the sonnax tcc damper both half have to be separated and the retainer ring has to hold the tcc valve in place but if you do not have the 722.6 diagram o would not attempt this because it's a possibility that the check balls can come out...but yes always check the solenoid with a ohm meter or 12v battery
