    Persona 5 creator Katsura Hashino:
“I wanted to build a game like a picaresque novel. So I needed a place that showed that the character didn’t have anywhere to go and where the character confronts the adult generation.”
“For the place where the character should live, I found it nice to have a large highway that looked like it covered all the the city, and for the character to end up in the small streets at the brink of destruction.”
“There, he would find shelter at an old man’s place, I thought that it would be a good place to start the story.”

I started playing Persona 5 Royale 1-2 weeks ago and I really never had any ambitions to travel, but after a couple hours into the game, I seriously want to visit Japan. The scenery of the game is completely different than the sub-urban area I live in, and the restaurants (like the ramen shop I've visited very early in the game with Ryuji) have a unique feel to them. This is really cool! I think you missed Akihabara in terms of places you can walk around in (in the game) but it looks so far away. I'm glad you went to the other places though!

I love how persona 5 implements real places of Tokio into one game which makes it such an escape out of reality when playing it. Btw nice video your video needs to have more views

I'm forever grateful to have played Persona 5 (Royal) during the early pandemic/lockdown times. Coincidentally it was the same time I had to cancel my Japan trip due to early warning and other things. Blindly bought P5R, and surprised how well they adapt Tokyo and its major areas. Felt like a memorable virtual trip while also playing a video game.

I feel I was in a similar boat! I had many plans to come to Japan, but it didn't work out because the pandemic. Now that I'm here, it's awesome to experience after everything is normal again!

Subbed! I wanted to do the exact same thing when I went to visit, but two weeks wasn’t enough time to explore entire japan and get IRL locations from P5😢 I’m so GLAD to see someone on YT actually did it. These videos are always super inspiring, please make more of it!
BTW your video got recommended to me on my home page :D

Persona 5 was a lot of fun. I'm from a rural area in Japan, and I've lived in the countryside for a long time, so I didn't know anything about the city center, so I got lost in the game, but I'm surprised that it actually exists like this.
    thanks for the nice video.

I was devastated when I went to the Shibuya station in April and saw that they have torn down the station... I managed to get into the "Rain on the Roof" though and it was very cosy there.
