Have you seen mad max 2? That dog made the movie. It was supposed to be put down but George Miller saved him. And he was surprisingly good at acting. He learned it in 2 weeks. And he steals every scene.
The intro of this video reminded me so much of Bolt. Bolt is literally Dog Truman Burbank but instead of figuring out his life is a lie inside of the set, he accidentally escapes to the real world and wants to go back to the fake world for his owner, Penny.
We need a new category in the Oscars, Best Performance By An Animal in a Motion Picture. Messi, the dog from Anatomy Of A Fall, deserves all the awards, all the pets, and all the treats.
@stellviahohenheim how about treats in the shape of an Oscar for the dogs. Messi went to film festivals and red carpets, and he looked like he had a good time, but maybe it's just him. I find awards meaningless, but good doggies deserve all the awards. 😊
@@lefthookouchmcarm4520 Yeah, bc blacks and mexicans think they need to have the most muscular and most aggressive dogs, then proceed to turn them feral. All at the same time, letting their dogs roam around free
between "we should immortalize dogs exactly as they are" and "all dogs go to heaven isn't a good dog movie" what i got out of this is that you are definitely not a furry
i disagree with cats being unable to make convincing facial expressions ☝mine make the most ridiculous faces all the time, i think it's a matter of dogs having more prominent eyebrows and longer snouts than cats do, but cats have the added benefit of their eyes being more expressive. i think the real difference here is that dogs are more easily trainable
I feel like dogs will show their emotions on their face to everybody. Cats do that only when they know and like you. I can read my own cat‘s face like an open book, but any random cat on the street has a neutral expression for me too. And they will not look directly into my face as this might be considered rude in the cat world. My cat knows this is ok and will look directly at me. He has a little bit of resting bitch face syndrome and the vet says he looks like Diego from Ice Age, but if he wants something from me his eyes get a lot wider and rounder. He did train me very well I guess…
@@MR-rj2qw oh i agree completely! i just think they are a lot more expressive than people think, but yea its definitely only noticeable if you have a cat yourself
Let's be honest for Once: Don't ALL animals don't know they're in a movie. Most don't even Care. All they know is if they perform XYZ they'll get a treat. Lol
Do a sequel video on cat acting? I bet historically we thought cats can't be trained like dogs so their acting on film involved more tricks on the part of the directors, but nowadays more people realize cats can be trained to follow cues...although I think a lot of cats just don't care for it.
I miss the days where the dogs are not cgi and emote like humans pretending to be a dog. Animators are sobuse to animating emotions and expresions on a human, so doing that on an animal who doesn't typically emote like a human but needs to show what they are feeling for the audience and drama just makes them look very weird and unatural.
Sometimes it can be so easy to forget all the hours of work that the dogs and trainers do to get things to go smoothly! On the bonus feature for the movie “Strays” with each of the four main dogs having so much energy, I believe they said one of the hardest parts was getting them to wall down the street together in a line. Also, those “The Mask” parts being improvised is amazing! That was a really good vid!
If this was reflective of bolt than the dog from homeward bound would have been legitimately feeling abandoned by a boy he loves instead of having to be shown a bird to grab an equivalent emotion. The dog from bolt completely understands the storylines and emotions he's playing, and the hook is that he doesn't know it's pretend. Real dogs understand none of that, they're just being pushed from one action to one expression by cues and manipulation So, um, no.
clickers are actuall very confusing to dogs, yes it works, but the loud click hurts theyre hearing, so they just do theyre best to make the painful noise stop. a GOOD trainer doesnt need a clicker
This is so interesting! I do wonder how this works for cats or other types of animals that are a bit more challenging to train. I know cats can be trained too but they tend to be a bit more selective in what commands to follow lol.
If you do Cat Acting, it would be interesting to take a look at the cat Fat Louie from The Princess Diaries! I think they might've used a puppet for it too.
Dog: expresses longing, sadness.
Director: she really liked birds but made that face because she was told to stay instead of get the bird
The dog that is most prominently featured in John Carpenter's The Thing was the best canine performance I've ever seen.
Have you seen mad max 2? That dog made the movie. It was supposed to be put down but George Miller saved him. And he was surprisingly good at acting. He learned it in 2 weeks. And he steals every scene.
@luigi_border You're right. That was a memorable performance, too.
I heard that dog was soooo good at acting it didnt even wag its tail
The intro of this video reminded me so much of Bolt. Bolt is literally Dog Truman Burbank but instead of figuring out his life is a lie inside of the set, he accidentally escapes to the real world and wants to go back to the fake world for his owner, Penny.
In conclusion: they’re good dogs, Brent
I love how most dog attacks in movies are just them playing

I'm sure the dogs would prefer to get handies from the oscar presenter than being given a meaningless time and time heals all

But all the _other_ dogs do, too
Every dog actor is automatically a 12/10 good boi
Okay, maybe not Beau 6:26. He's only an 11/10
Pittbulls have such wigglebutts. I am not surprised they had to use cgi to edit out the tail wags!
They attack a lot of kids too

The fact that the dog in The Thing was a hybrid makes it even more perfect for the Thing.

Dude this video is top notch. Editing, writing, pacing; 10s across the board🤙🏾
thank you! this is the most fun I had making a video in forever. so glad you enjoyed it

I don’t think Ive sat through a 16 minute video in years, you did great with this video. Definitely subscribing.
In the first 10 seconds, I think you've discovered the entire plot point of the movie Bolt
Finally SOMEONE ELSE LOVES DOGS MOVIES AS MUCH AS I DO
I didn't know I needed to know this much about dog acting, but now I do.

I've seen a video on a person who works with animal actors and she said cats are the worse animals to work with. Even insects are easier.
Yeah, cats are pretty hard to train. I've tried my mother's cat to sit, and our old cat could sit and shake lol
maybe! though I think horse acting would probably be the next animal acting vid, given their history in film
Look up "cat circus" to see some amazing cat tricks.
Oscar for best dog? Yes. Dogs are the best people.
the Max bit (from The Mask), and how most of it was improvised, actually had me ROLLING!!🤣

Animal coordinator is probably the only job in the movie industry that I‘d like to do.
Thank you for making this I needed it
Haven’t finished the video yet but I hope you mention Jean, the first canine actor in the USA. Owned by the same man as Strongheart
Strongheart was actually Jean’s replacement! Yet nobody remembers her, only Strongheart :(
Very well made and insightful video! I hope this video and your channel get the recognition you deserve!
Of of the greatest videos ive seen in a long time. You've earned yourself a subscriber. Love it, Keep it up!
Im glad this video featured Anatomy of a Fall. Most realistic and frighteningly visceral performance from a dog I’ve seen.
I think what really made All Dogs Go To Heaven so uncanny was when Gordon Freeman showed up just to die in the next scene.
So the disney Bolt movie is very real this whole time.

Anatomy of a fall was mind blowing.
yes. cgi dog is nightmare
Yooo triplets of Belleville mention!!!
Easily the best K9 performance is in John Carpenters The Thing.
idk why this isnt 2 hours.... i will watch it but i rather watch it more.
What about cat acting?
Yeah, also monkey acting!
