Now that P5 has been reacted to (the tip of the iceberg), only a matter of time until P4 and P3 reactions. Especially with P3Reload being released in February, there's more than enough songs to choose from.
I'd recommend The World Ends With You and NEO: The World Ends With You's soundtracks too, for sure. Certified jams. Another OST that dosn't sound like it'd be a videogame OST - and it spans quite a few styles.
I was looking to see if someone had already commented this! When they said "this is a battle theme?" and joked about dying in battle because they would be distracted bopping to the awesome music, I was thinking about TWEWY. The soundtrack is so funky -- it's wild. "TWISTER" and "Calling" are simply iconic and every remix that's been released over the years has been so much fun to listen to.
Surprised you brought up Persona 5 and didn't mention Beneath the Mask or Sunset Bridge, or any of the slower ambient tracks, as that's where I think Persona 5 and Royal truly shines. Love em, def recommend if you take a second look. Super fun to watch as well!
Every persona game is a 120 hours game with a soundtrack to vibe while you are doing it. It's insane If you want to listen to more persona 5 you probably want to see some of the songs you listen outside battle. For example beneath the mask, layer cake, butterfly kiss or Tokio daylight You can react to palace themes too or even some of the songs of persona 5 strikers. A spin off That for persona 5... If you still hungry you still have the other persona games.... So... Yeah, here the persona fans really appreciate the absolute bangers we have on our games ^^
Yes, more people learning the beauty of Persona music, good, good. As a black woman who has bumped video game music for most of her life, a lot of amazing composers are hidden on game osts.
Rivers in the Desert is a really good song, and the impact of it is really amazing. It plays for the first time during a time where the player "thinks" they are having their last fight, saving Japan from corruption fighting the impending Prime Minister.
If there’s one thing ATLUS sound team is gonna give you, it’s an out of this world bass line in the OST. Gawd tier bass lines throughout every song that makes you wonder how unconscious was the bass player when they were making these OSTs!
Other songs from persona 5 that are my favorite are “axe to grind” and “the whims of fate”. If you wanna play the game you won’t regret it but it’s a 100+ hour story game.
The first song you reacted to, Rivers in the Desert is widely considered to be one of, if not the best song in P5. It's a boss theme, and I no lie spent half the fight just jamming to the song.
The thing about Persona 5 is it's turned based combat so you can just sit and jam to the soundtrack as long as you want. However, its sequel "Persona 5 Strikers" is a musou warriors style combat game where a bunch of things are happening at once with EXTREMELY fast-paced combat. The soundtrack for Strikers is absolutely NUTS. If you react to that OST, envision that intense rock soundtrack with absolute unabashed chaos happening at the same time. *THAT'S* a track that will be hard to play with. Some songs from Strikers I heavily recommend for a reaction are below. All these tracks are ALL slappers, but ones I say are a must for a vid I've marked with a "^": -Daredevil^ -Axe to Grind^ -Last Surprise - Scramble^ -Counterstrike^ -You Are Stronger -What You Wish For -Sophia's Shop -Blooming Villain - Scramble
Daredevil is the most maximalist off the shits song I think I’ve ever heard. It’s over-the-top to the point of almost being cheesy, a totally self-indulgent piece that’s just wonderful. What You Wish For is also eternally stuck in my head
One of the best things is, there’s so many good songs in persona 5 alone that you can make several sequels to this video A great example is persona five royal actually has a sequel song to: “ Life Will Change” and it’s called, “I believe” I called the sequel song because it has a lot of lyrics that call back to the previous song.
Another game that you might want to listen to because of its good music is Guilty Gear, especially the recent ones. It’s more Rock/Metal, but it’s so good that in the game’s community we joke that Daisuke Ishiwatari (the series’ creator) is so kind that he made a game to go with his new album
I love these reactions, you guys get so into it, it's great :D I would love more Persona reactions, not only are there more great songs in Persona 5, but there's also the spin offs to consider, and that's not even mentioning Persona 3 and 4 as well, there are bangers everywhere in this franchise!
“Believe” from P5 Royal. Just epic. Made me want to stop playing the game to listen to it but the way they incorporated it into what was going on in the game was just so magical that I couldn’t.
Great reaction, love seeing you guys get so into it. If you're gonna do another one of these, I recommend "Price," "A Woman," and/or "Whims of Fate," which are all level themes and groovy as fuck. Also from the remaster, "Ideal and the Real" is a chill bop, it's the character theme of your therapist/school counselor basically.
5:24 it plays when you are fighting 2 bosses. 1 is a crooked politician who frames you for crimes and tries to kill you, and the other is a literal God
One curiosity: Persona 5 was the first time the singer Lyn was singing in English, she is japanese and she does not speak English AT ALL, so yeah, she is amazing
This entire OST is full of so many killin tracks. Every shop theme in this game is insanely good. The sequel game they made with a new OST that also included remixes was also so vibrant and always a lot a variation in instrumentation
The amount of orchestral stuff in the soundtrack is amazing. The base game soundtrack, the one from the rerelease game, Royal, as well as another spin off game Strikers all have amazing music.
I just stumbled onto this video but P5 has probably the best OST I've ever heard (and I'm 49 fwiw). The genre of music showcased is called Acid Jazz for those not in the know. It was a style that began in the late 80s and came out of the UK. It's a mix of jazz, soul, funk, disco, hip hop and house. To this day, it is my favorite genre of music. Notable artists in the genre include: My personal favorite of all time The Brand New Heavies, Jamiroquai, Incognito, Count Basic, Corduroy and the Brooklyn Funk Essentials. People really don't make it much anymore but you do have some holdovers who still bring it who are newer like Tortured Soul. Neo-Soul is the modern evolution of Acid Jazz but that has less house and funk influences than AJ.
Speaking of great video game soundtracks, Ace Combat cannot be topped. They do symphonies, rock, flamenco, everything. Zero, Mimic Squadron, and Daredevil are my favorites.
Life will change plays at the beginning of the game and three times more after. It plays once you invade a dungeon for the last time, only during MAJOR DUNGEONS THAT HAVE A BIG EFFECT ON THE STORY, and it represents their resolve to change lives and to beat the dungeon to cause this change. Also I heard you ask if games win music soundtrack awards, and Persona 5 actually won Soundtrack of the Year for 2017 (the year it released worldwide)
I highly recommend this game and that you all should play! I just finished/posted Royal finally and one of the best things is how much the music mirrors the plot and is so thematic. Beneath the Mask is so good, you should definitely listen to that at least. It is indeed a long game- my vanilla P5 play was 150 hours, and Royal was 180ish. But it's SO WORTH IT. Persona games and their music are always so good.
as someone who is OBSESSED with persona 5 you guys should DEFINITELY play it !!! i'd watch _every_ second of it. i recommend persona 5 royal since its basically the updated verson of persona 5
The thing that makes Rivers in the desert 10x better is that while it is played during a boss fight, it’s not the boss’s theme, it’s the protagonist’s theme, the boss it plays during is the man who got the protagonist arrested and put on probation, which is how the game starts.
So happy you guys listened!! I used to put keep on the cafe theme with the tv on whenever it was raining after playing through the game when it came out, and now I listen to the TH-cam rain video of it when I work! Lol it’s an incredible game and every single one is a banger. You should for sure listen to some older Persona music because all the tracks hit just right!
5:44 “What scenario would you need to listen to this music in a video game?” It’s for fighting to steal away the evil in people’s hearts in order to change the world.

This is one of my favorite gaming OSTs. My other two favorite gaming OSTs are Hades and Fire Emblem Three Houses, maybe check them out sometime. They’re an entirely different feel from this and from each other. Nothing is as funky as P5R, what a banger of a game and OST.
One day, a friend told me about a good game named Persona 5 Royal, after sometimes, I began to listen to the ost (Rivers in the desert principaly) and, approximatly 30hours of just listening to them, the game release on Game pass, I played day one, now I have 117hours in the game, I finished Persona 3 Reload in 2 month (02/02 to 02/04) in hard mode, I have Persona 4 Golden, Shin megami tensei 3 Remaster and 5 too, and I need to restart a game from Persona 5 Royal cause I failed my first game
You definetly have to react to some persona 5 strikers songs, like "last surprise (srikers version)", "rivers in the desert (strikers version)", "daredevil" and "counter strike"
To answer your question, Rivers in the Desert plays during a boss fight against the guy who technically screwed your life over and it's the only time it plays
Talking about the integration of music and game, in P5 Royal there is a new location added that is a jazz bar that has an integral scene to the story where the music being performed is not only an acknowledged part of the scene, but the lyrics also give a metaphorical spin on the story being told. Its a beautiful song, and really incredibly integrated into the game's story.
The singer for the P5R OST is Lyn Inaizumi. Fun facts about Lyn, she doesn't speak English and had to learn enough English specifically for this album. Also, because she is a Mezzo Saprano (a much lower vocal range than many Japanese singers), she struggled to find success and jobs throughout her career. The scenario where Rivers in the Desert FIRST shows up (and the ONLY time it shows up) is during a boss fight. It is incredibly significant because the game is building to THIS MOMENT. At first, all you hear is the instrumental version of the song. Once the boss fight enters into the second phase, and the $h^t hits the fan, that's when you get the lyrical version. The Persona games are by far made by their usage of music. I personally listen to the OST on my playlist quite frequently. If you've never played the game, it is available PC, and I highly recommend playing Persona 5 Royale. Edit: Oh, and your reaction is the same as just about EVERYONE who reacts to the P5R OST. I thought I would add this little note. Good on you for checking it out.
Persona 5 songs go so hard for real, it's always a blast seeing people experiencing it for the first time. It was so fun seeing y'all jam out to it lol. I'd definitely recommend giving a listen to "I Believe" and "Throw Away Your Mask" from P5 Royal, they both go hard as hell for no reason for real (heh)
LETS FUCKING GOOOOO Bro please check out the track beneath the mask, it’s a different vibe but still insanely good. Slower and jazzier. Late night loner vibe. Maybe in a single video, but you could always do a part 2 to this.
Loved the reaction for your video. Curious if you guys have ever heard the OST for the game The World Ends With You. Originally came out in 2008 for the DS. Would love to see/hear what you guys think of the soundtrack.
It might be a bit out of your collective wheelhouse, but the LISA Games OST's are nothing to sneeze at with how strange, experimental, melancholoic, hype, and terrifying they can each be. War Season is probably my favorite track from the game, but He's my Dad really gets me.

I'd add the rest of the palace themes along with layer cake and butterfly kiss to your list but there's really no going wrong with this OST
Also Awakening and Willpower. Specifically in that order.
"Layer cake". Period.
Ark and Days when my mother was there.
Throw Blood of Villain and Blooming Villain on that list
Now that P5 has been reacted to (the tip of the iceberg), only a matter of time until P4 and P3 reactions. Especially with P3Reload being released in February, there's more than enough songs to choose from.
Lyn has such an amazing voice. I loved “Our Light” (the song used for the Royal ending of P5R).
Butterfly Kiss (musicians love it), Layer Cake, Alleycat, When Mother was There, Price are all great tracks from P5 too
I'd recommend The World Ends With You and NEO: The World Ends With You's soundtracks too, for sure. Certified jams. Another OST that dosn't sound like it'd be a videogame OST - and it spans quite a few styles.
Oh hell yeah! Not enough people talk about TWEWY. The OST is absolutely fantastic
TWEWY songs go haaaaaaard in the paint
I was looking to see if someone had already commented this! When they said "this is a battle theme?" and joked about dying in battle because they would be distracted bopping to the awesome music, I was thinking about TWEWY. The soundtrack is so funky -- it's wild. "TWISTER" and "Calling" are simply iconic and every remix that's been released over the years has been so much fun to listen to.
You guys will absolutely enjoy doing a playthrough of Persona 5 Royal. It'll probably gain as many views as these music reactions, honestly.
Or, like, play the far superior original. The new soundtrack just ain't it.
@@wristcontr0lCope. Royal is objectively superior in every way, even if you personally don't like some of the new stuff
@@Ren.4744agreed, royal is far superior as it adds one of the best villains and fight🙏
@@annasouii Aizen is a fone addition, ngl
@@denkerbosu3551 LMFAO aizen my fav villain from p5🙏
Surprised you brought up Persona 5 and didn't mention Beneath the Mask or Sunset Bridge, or any of the slower ambient tracks, as that's where I think Persona 5 and Royal truly shines. Love em, def recommend if you take a second look. Super fun to watch as well!
Absolutely love persona's OST so this was a very welcome surprise :0
"what's the game about?"
"how much time you got?"
i feel that...
i could spend a year explaining this shit and STILL need more time
Every persona game is a 120 hours game with a soundtrack to vibe while you are doing it. It's insane
If you want to listen to more persona 5 you probably want to see some of the songs you listen outside battle. For example beneath the mask, layer cake, butterfly kiss or Tokio daylight
You can react to palace themes too or even some of the songs of persona 5 strikers. A spin off
That for persona 5... If you still hungry you still have the other persona games....
So... Yeah, here the persona fans really appreciate the absolute bangers we have on our games ^^
There is an endless amount of absolutely phenomenal video game OSTs, it may seem surprising but some of the best music I have heard has been game OST
I know right people look at me crazy when I say I listen to video games music
Rivers in the Desert plays during the boss fight that the entire game was leading up to. The fight where you are the boss, its your boss theme music.
Yes, more people learning the beauty of Persona music, good, good. As a black woman who has bumped video game music for most of her life, a lot of amazing composers are hidden on game osts.
That Persona 5 OST be hitting. It got a song for whatever mood you feeling. Same thing with the Persona 4 OST.
22:13
yo, are we recovering 7sp per turn? because this shit is REJUVENATING
The persona 4 soundtrack is also amazing!
true
Great soundtracks!
And 3. And 2. Persona music is just consistently amazing
Love both the original and Reincarnation versions for P4.
@@connorharnage6697and 1 on psp
Other songs from persona 5 that are my favorite are “axe to grind” and “the whims of fate”. If you wanna play the game you won’t regret it but it’s a 100+ hour story game.
The first song you reacted to, Rivers in the Desert is widely considered to be one of, if not the best song in P5. It's a boss theme, and I no lie spent half the fight just jamming to the song.
I afked to listen to the song lol
The thing about Persona 5 is it's turned based combat so you can just sit and jam to the soundtrack as long as you want. However, its sequel "Persona 5 Strikers" is a musou warriors style combat game where a bunch of things are happening at once with EXTREMELY fast-paced combat. The soundtrack for Strikers is absolutely NUTS. If you react to that OST, envision that intense rock soundtrack with absolute unabashed chaos happening at the same time. *THAT'S* a track that will be hard to play with. Some songs from Strikers I heavily recommend for a reaction are below. All these tracks are ALL slappers, but ones I say are a must for a vid I've marked with a "^":
-Daredevil^
-Axe to Grind^
-Last Surprise - Scramble^
-Counterstrike^
-You Are Stronger
-What You Wish For
-Sophia's Shop
-Blooming Villain - Scramble
Sophia’s shop takes me to a special place.
“Thanks for your patronage!”
“Sure!”
“You’re spending quite a bit!”
Strikers is a spin-off. Edit: its also a sequel nevermind
Daredevil is the most maximalist off the shits song I think I’ve ever heard. It’s over-the-top to the point of almost being cheesy, a totally self-indulgent piece that’s just wonderful. What You Wish For is also eternally stuck in my head
@@nemesi55 for me that song is Counterstrike. I’ve heard it before playing the game but when it came on in game I was FLOORED
I love that whenever i look up all of them are bopping their heads
One of the best things is, there’s so many good songs in persona 5 alone that you can make several sequels to this video
A great example is persona five royal actually has a sequel song to: “ Life Will Change” and it’s called, “I believe”
I called the sequel song because it has a lot of lyrics that call back to the previous song.
The og op 'wake up, get up, get out there' did me in. I haven't even started the game and i was already mesmerized by the OST.
Another game that you might want to listen to because of its good music is Guilty Gear, especially the recent ones. It’s more Rock/Metal, but it’s so good that in the game’s community we joke that Daisuke Ishiwatari (the series’ creator) is so kind that he made a game to go with his new album
I love how you guys vibe with the music you react too, it's so fun to watch, makes me wanna dance along haha
You guys also might like layer cake. It isn’t a song with lyrics, but it’s so funky. I love it.
This soundtrack is my life companion, I'm listening to it when working and I'm always in such a good mood with it
I love these reactions, you guys get so into it, it's great :D I would love more Persona reactions, not only are there more great songs in Persona 5, but there's also the spin offs to consider, and that's not even mentioning Persona 3 and 4 as well, there are bangers everywhere in this franchise!
The funny thing is it is not a black woman singing lol 😂 2:40
Why is that funny?
A Japanese woman who doesn't speak English lol
I too totally thought it was a black woman until i started hearing the Engrish. Which made me so surprised
This is believable, the Japanese r&b group double sounds black
One curiosity: Persona 5 was the first time the singer Lyn was singing in English, she is japanese and she does not speak English AT ALL, so yeah, she is amazing
Her pronunciation is forgiven as my Japanese is probably as good as her English
This entire OST is full of so many killin tracks. Every shop theme in this game is insanely good. The sequel game they made with a new OST that also included remixes was also so vibrant and always a lot a variation in instrumentation
The amount of orchestral stuff in the soundtrack is amazing. The base game soundtrack, the one from the rerelease game, Royal, as well as another spin off game Strikers all have amazing music.
8:26 Hahahaha I love the face the guy in red makes, not knowing the context of the song it would seem like the game was talking to you xd
really fun video; felt like i was listening to it for the first time with you guys. thanks for that.
Notable artists in the genre include:
My personal favorite of all time The Brand New Heavies, Jamiroquai, Incognito, Count Basic, Corduroy and the Brooklyn Funk Essentials.
Didn't they delay the release of the game for a few months just so that the composer could perfect "Daredevil"?
cannot be topped is not true though. Imo video game OST's dont have clear like "greats"
Everyone's gangsta until the sky starts speaking Latin
07:59 "Begin the operation!"
We've already sent the calling card, Joker, That's over today!
The whole soundtrack is full of bangers
I would like to see reactions to some of the more chill music from P5 cause those are my favorite ones
as someone who is OBSESSED with persona 5 you guys should DEFINITELY play it !!! i'd watch _every_ second of it. i recommend persona 5 royal since its basically the updated verson of persona 5
Blooming Villain, Price, The Days When my Mother was There, Beneath the Mask, and I Believe are really good as well.
OMG yes!!! please do a playthrough!! it's so much fun and has the best music atmosphere!!
I love how they reacted to the trill it’s such a feeling in that small part.
You should check out the P4 soundtrack! Some good songs from there are “Heartbeat Heartbreak” “never more” and “heaven”
Heartbeat Heartbreak is an ear worm that will never leave my head. And my life is that much better for it. But all three of those are absolute bangers
5:44 “What scenario would you need to listen to this music in a video game?”
It’s for fighting to steal away the evil in people’s hearts in order to change the world.
Oh yeah, we eatin good today.
2:20 Nope! White Japanese woman 😁
Japanese women aren't white lol
Nope. Korean woman
@@jazzifizzleno16Lyn Inaizumi, known professionally as Lyn, is a Japanese jazz and soul vocalist. She is most notable for her work as a vocalist on Persona 5 and its spin-offs.
This is directly from the wiki. She was born in japan
This is one of my favorite gaming OSTs. My other two favorite gaming OSTs are Hades and Fire Emblem Three Houses, maybe check them out sometime. They’re an entirely different feel from this and from each other. Nothing is as funky as P5R, what a banger of a game and OST.
6:12 "between this and street fighter" oh man. wait until you find modern tekken
When it comes to video game music, Persona, Sonic and Final Fantasy are basically legendary for their music.
Add nier automata to that list
"the days when my mother was there" is often overlooked but it's another masterpiece from this ost, always gets me right in the feels.
To answer your question, Rivers in the Desert plays during a boss fight against the guy who technically screwed your life over and it's the only time it plays
Nah it plays on a lot of bosses actually, but that's the first and most impactful time
Talking about the integration of music and game, in P5 Royal there is a new location added that is a jazz bar that has an integral scene to the story where the music being performed is not only an acknowledged part of the scene, but the lyrics also give a metaphorical spin on the story being told. Its a beautiful song, and really incredibly integrated into the game's story.
Hell yes! So glad you guys are getting into Video Game OST's, let alone Persona 5!!! There is definitely more to listen to if you revisit it!!
Now that you've done Persona 5, its only fair you do Persona 3 and 4. maybe even 1 and 2 if you feel like it
LIVED IN BURIED MEM’RY
Hope they go back through the older persona game soundtracks and the remake of 3
The singer for the P5R OST is Lyn Inaizumi.
The messenger ost is also fire, especially for anyone that grew up in the 8/16 bit generation.
LETS FUCKING GOOOOO
Bro please check out the track beneath the mask, it’s a different vibe but still insanely good. Slower and jazzier. Late night loner vibe. Maybe in a single video, but you could always do a part 2 to this.
"What do you do when you're listening to this music in a video game?"
Fighting a cup.
Loved the reaction for your video. Curious if you guys have ever heard the OST for the game The World Ends With You. Originally came out in 2008 for the DS. Would love to see/hear what you guys think of the soundtrack.
Also I LOVE seeing y'all just joyous, grooving to the tunes
Persona has some of the most vibrant music of any video game series
You start off with the best boss themes. Hell yeah!!!
It might be a bit out of your collective wheelhouse, but the LISA Games OST's are nothing to sneeze at with how strange, experimental, melancholoic, hype, and terrifying they can each be. War Season is probably my favorite track from the game, but He's my Dad really gets me.
Rivers in the Desert is one of the only times in my life that I stopped a boss battle just to fucking groove to that hook. God damn I love that song
Rivers in the desert is a boss battle theme, FYI
Love that the music is as unique and crazy and stylish as the game itself!
It was great! Please, you have to react to Nier's ost (automata and replicant), because...it's amazing. Thank you for the video, I loved it!
I love how we're all recommending both of them. No matter which one you prefer, the other is RIGHT underneath, like a 1a 1b situation.
Rivers in the desert plays during the MAJOR boss battles towards end game
