    its always a pleasure to watch you do hotlaps, i watch very carefully and you are one of the few sim racers that i see on youtube that have absolute consistency. a bad turn for you is when you don't hit it perfect. if i had to guess you have at least 30 years of racing experience under your belt between sim and real life, im 27 and you just have a style that screams I've been racing longer than you've been alive. thank you for the videos. im hoping we see some new motion simulation on the market this year. im ready to invest in a system but im on a budget. ide like to keep it under 5 grand, my chassis now flexes everywhere and is 7 years old. so instead of buying a new rig i just want to go right to motion. i use VR and it would really top off the experience. so im hoping i see some sub $5000 motion rigs and some SRG reviews on them in 2021. ive watched all yours so far on motion platforms and wheels. its hard to choose or its out of my price bracket typically. im still using a CSW 2,5 full clubsport setup. and im still content with the motor, but my wheel stand if you pull the steering wheel towards you then let go it has a good 3 inches of travel back and fourth like a spring. it was made for a logitec wheel/pedal combo so it just has one support between my legs. ive been due for a new rig for 2 years and keep putting it off since ide like to go from racing on a spring essentially with what i have now right to a rock solid motion unit with no play in the wheeldeck or pedal plate, heck even my shifter mount flexes with a clubsport shifter. a direct drive wheel would break the welds im almost certain. and it just bugs me that i have never felt my wheel on a solid mount, im probably losing 1-1.5 Nm of torque and fidelity due to the wheel deck flexing the opposite way the wheel is trying to send me feedback.

    I am happy with my GT Omega Prime. I would like to see more price comparisons on cockpits plus shipping costs. I saved almost $300 on the GT Omega (i pre ordered it) over a P1X after shipping was calculated to the US. I used that savings on some Trak racer parts - inverted pedal tray, mouse tray, keyboard tray. Maybe a piece of 4040 under the pedal tray to reenforce it would have worked and you can adjust the height or the pedal tray up or down 40mm between each of the 40x160 slots.

    The best thing about this is GT Omega is adapting to the market. Yes there is still room for cheap prefab chassis but lets face it. The best setup for sim racing is aluminum profile hands down.
    If they get the pedal tray sorted and they release a front/side mount option for dd wheels. This could definitely be a contender to SimLab. Especially if they can ship cheaper.

    Fantastic review. Bought one and first thing I did wad replace the feet. 40mm rubber feet from Amazon. I don't feel the pedal flex because I am not pounding on the pedals on the deck plate. I added a SR Racing Sequential Shifter Pro. Fitted with no modification to the cockpit. The GT Omega XLRS seat you can buy for this cockpit was very fiddly to install, the hardest part of the build. Watch this this video to assemble the cockpit because it is 100% better than the instructions in the box.

      @DerekMoore82 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Oh no.. I ordered the XLRS seat.. fingers crossed I don't screw it up. Do you have a link for the rubber feet? Or if not a link (since TH-cam flags and removes links generally) what keywords should I punch into an Amazon search?

    Another goood thing abiout this rig is how high you can set your wheel due to the tall pillars (the're taller than the P1X by 5cm or so).

  • @AMRosa10
    @AMRosa10 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    @Sim Racing Garage Thank you for these detailed and insightful reviews.
    I have a question that I hope you can address. Has it gotten to the point that the Sim Cockpit Kit manufactures price points are down around what you would expect to pay if you tried to build the frame by sourcing Aluminum Profile yourself as a DIY project, possibly just buying a wheel mount and pedal tray from one of the Kit makers?
    The $1K price point for a solid rig seems like a lot and I am wondering how much extra overhead is being built into the price and if maybe sourcing the profile separately might cut the cost a few hundred dollars.
    Thank you.

    Thanks for another awesome review, Barry. I wish I too had a sim racing garage.. My major issue with these monolithic rigs is that they are so darn ugly. I am already getting flack from my family for my sim racing; so I can just imagine what would happen if I were to erect one of these contraptions in our rec room. I think it will rather be the NLR GTtrack for my humble setup.

      @Jenson Ristevski Haha! I am a stealthy sim racer 😊. I ended up building my own rig in wood and it actually turned out much nicer than I had expected, cost less than $100 and, more importantly, my family approves of the uncluttered look! I just received a notice that my CSL DD is about to ship and I am super excited. I have been using my current wheel (Fanatec CSR) for 10 years, so that is going to be a big upgrade for me.

    I see a trend of sim racers posting their own designs if this kind of rig, stuff they've "designed" and sourced parts and built, some look very good, some not so much. A big selling point is cost for these TH-camrs, how much you can save. Then you start to notice, single brackets, uprights butted to the top of the horizontal beams, instead of using longer uprights fixed to the larger surface area of the side of the horizontal beams. It's the little things that matter, they're usually big things in the end. Buy once, and buy right! The bitterness of poor quality and engineering lasts way longer than the joy of a good bargain, saving a few hundred £/$ is not a smart move when making a big purchase like this, the chance is that few $ was spent making sure it works, lasts and is safe, and you are paying for the added benefit of comeback if it all goes wrong, good luck getting your money back from a part time youtuber who sold you some plans and got a kickback from the material suppliers he will surely tell you lots of good things about.
    This guy though, well him you can trust to tell you what is what. Top bloke who knows what is good and doesn't sugar coat his views. Keep up the great work!
