    Great video and great setup.👍🏻 I recently upgraded to the GT OMEGA Prime and cannot fault it in any way. I have the same pedals, wheel base and steering wheel as yours and couldn't be happier with the equipment. This month I've gone from console to PC including a triple screen setup with Samsung 1000r ultra curved monitors. It now feels like a top tier setup. Good luck with your sim racing.

    Thanks for the review Dan. I have owned my Prime for approximately 6 months and have no complaints. I am using Fanatec V2.5 gear and for my level of racing, the flex in the wheel base is not a dealbreaker. Although, with some much importance placed on stiffness I do feel that the pedal plate should be improved.

    • @dannyleeracing
      @dannyleeracing  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Agreed, the pedal tray is great and I personally have no complaints, but at this level the expectation is perfection so it's something that could be improved to get rid of a correctable flaw.

    Hi Danny, I know this video is over a year old but, with this video and the recent one you did on the GT Omega Prime Lite you made up my mind to buy the full Prime. The Prime now comes with an uprated pedal plate, and said pedal plate is available as a separate upgrade for those that need it - www.gtomega.co.uk/products/prime-pedal-plate?rfsn=5541281.35ff85&DannyLee - I am now using Heusinkveld Sprint pedals on the original tray (as featured in this video) without much reason for complaint but I'll be getting the upgrade and releasing an updated review!

    Not sure if GT omega has mentioned it but their new pedal tray is a massive improvement from the first batches for cockpits. Its basically 2 10mm thick aluminum plates that sandwich 2 pieces of aluminum profile. Very sturdy. You see if they can send you out the revised pedal tray for a revised review.

    • @dannyleeracing
      @dannyleeracing  2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      I've got one on order, having noticed that it's now sold separately. I'll be receiving it tomorrow and covering it shortly after but it's fairly obvious what the result is gonna be! Having said that, I've been using Heusinkveld on the standard try for over a month now with no real complaints, the uprated tray will just solidify it for good!

    For the pedal tray -- Just buy a flat piece of aluminium, maybe 3-5mm, spray it matt black and lay it on top of the current tray, drill the necessary holes you need. Drill 4 more at the corners of the plate to attach to the thin tray. No more flexing.

    • @bertram-raven
      @bertram-raven 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      That has been tried, the pedal plate stops flexing in the middle but begins bending sideways at the uprights. Ultimately, GTO need to seriously rethink their pedal plates designs across the range.

    • @Toutvids
      @Toutvids 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Or just buy a competitor’s pedal tray and swap them. Most of these major brands share the same width measurements 50cm for the pedal deck and 58cm for the wheel deck (when the vertical supports are attached to the side of the base

    • @bertram-raven
      @bertram-raven 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@akpanjennings That defeats the purpose of the the GTO price point; although this appears to be moot now GTO have changed the pedal plate entirely. However, they have not addressed the wheel-base mount "weakness" caused by having a single bolt either side connecting to the uprights. Again, this is not acceptable in an 8020 rig. Of course, you can change it for a better one, but then you have raised the cost once more and brought the price in line with other offerings.

    Great review, you really covered just about everything someone could possibly want to know about the cockpit. As a current P1-X owner I have to say the look and quality are extremely similar.
    One question, when you were done building the cockpit was there a bunch of spare fasteners and hardware? I feel like Simlab gave me an almost lifetime supply of premium, spring-ball T-nuts and extra bolts to add accessories and modify it further in the future. I have gone pretty crazy with button boxes and accessories and I still have bags and bags of them haha. Once I saw how much they actually cost to buy, I was very surprised but how generous they were.

      Cheers for the comment, appreciate your view as a P1X owner - although I've never seen one in person it's evident from photos etc. that the P1X and Prime share a lot of DNA, being as Sim Lab is the most popular player in this region it's only sensible to make that the benchmark.
      And yeah, totally stacked with nuts n' bolts like they're givin' them away!

    Very nice review .I've just got a Logitch G pro and can't adjust the wheel deck height enough on my NLR F-GT to compensate for the extra height so decided an aluminium profile rig was the way to go and not wanting to spend another grand so what a great value rig and I'm prob going to order one any day now .Btw for those of us with back promlems ,being able to constantly vary the back angle [the same way as I do when driving my car] is a great plus and to me, it's worth sacrificing a little flex. Also I'm used to eliminating any pedal tray flex by laying 1 piece of 4x2 against the skirting board then putting another piece at an angle to the pedal tray .I wrap the wood in black material first so it looks better and as long as your rig goes against a wall there's zero flex there.Anyway looks perfect for me cheers

    this might come across as a silly question but i must ask, how much vibration does the rig transmit to the floor? i ask because i race on the second floor of an old Victorian house with floors so thin i feel like if i jumped high enough id go through, right now I'm on anti vibration matts but I'm after something that'll be easier on the floor than this gt omega ART I'm currently running on

    • @dannyleeracing

    Thanks for your review mate. I have mine coming soon and I’ll also be having the same setup as yourself with the CSL DD and Clubsport v3 pedals. Honestly that tiny amount of flex would not be noticeable for me and coming from a playseat it’s going to be a night and day difference. I take your word for it that it’s not noticeable during racing. I may not even wear shoes so I’d likely get even less flex than you.
    One thing you didn’t touch on was the included shifter mount (unless I missed it?) but overall great review and makes me glad that I went with the Prime. 👍

      Sadly I don't have a shifter right now. I should really sort that out to be honest! I love a good heel toe shindig.
      The pedal plate flex is, to me, not noticeable - I can push that pedal as hard as possible and could not say it's there if I didn't see it on camera, but when filming I saw that it definitely was. Barry from Sim Racing Garage has a good video on the Prime which shows how things are with top end pedals and that's worth a look.

Whether this is an option only, and they bunged it with mine due not having stock of the regular pedal tray, who knows? Great review Dan! I am on the fence between the Omega GT Prime and Trak Racer T160. Residing in the Continental United States eliminates the P1-X due to the substantial freight charges, so I am seeking a local vendor. I have a Trak Racer quad monitor free-standing mount to accompany the 8020. I am impressed by the ease of assembly and the simplicity of the rig; you get what you need without any unnecessary bells-and-whistles. In regards to complaints associated with "pedal flex", have you fashioned any solution to reduce movement; I have seen some customers eliminate the height supports and simply bolt the plate flat to the frame. Additionally, given the narrower width of the Prime, would other brands of pedal plates be compatible? I am looking to upgrade from Fanatec V3 to HE Sprints in the future. Thank you for the comprehensive review and feedback!

    • @dannyleeracing
      @dannyleeracing  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      When it comes to the pedal plate, the first thing I'd recommend is try it as-is first. I personally find no real cause for complaint BUT I'm using Fanatec V3s which have 4 very spread-out mounting points that help keep the plate's rigidity. If you happened to have the Prime and found there was flex with HE sprints, you COULD replace the pedal tray with a profile platform instead, that wouldn't cost a great deal. The Prime pedal tray is great for pedals in the lower-mid range, from those which can't mount from above, like Logitech or Thrustmaster LCM (I think), but also can accept those that mount from above like V3's and so on. It's not the upright brackets that are the source of the flex, it's the plate itself which can be more liable to flex if you have pedals that mount in certain weird ways that cause a lot of leverage. The V3's are quite good at spreading that load, whereas I've seen one or two videos where the mounting has a very narrow footprint.
      Even so, a profile-based pedal plate would be an improvement just to cover the mid to high end pedal bases - I have made a suggestion that having the option to add a 'pro' pedal plate at modest additional cost would be a good idea, to save having to look elsewhere at the time, maybe this will be available somewhere down the road as it's not too hard to put something together that would do it.

    Thankyou for the review, much Appreciated. I have the Art with Simucube 2U & heusinkveld Sprints, What Put me off the Prime has been confirmed by you, in that the foot plate is flimsy, and the company are still Tack Welding everything. Did you try the Prime foot Plate in the Art? and does it fit? as this would still be an upgrade to the 6mm mdf fitted to the Art. Cheers J.

    • @dannyleeracing
      @dannyleeracing  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      By the sounds of it you have an early ART cockpit with an MDF pedal platform which was since replaced with sheet steel, though the Prime's pedal tray is many times more rigid than the ART's revised pedal plate. The Prime's foot plate would not fit the ART as it's much wider -
      The Prime's pedal plate isn't flimsy for me, it is unnoticeable on my Clubsport V3's, however there's no doubt that HE sprints would cause it to flex without being fitted to the optional pedal plate themselves (firstly to make it compatible and also to spread out the load). Even so, it would be much better with some simple additions or a profile-based 'Pro' version of the pedal plate is made as an accessory for it.

    I have a GT-Omega Titan which is also let down by the pedal plate. Given that, the pedal plate is a deal breaker for me. I have a previous GT-Omega XL chair for my desk which is the best office chair I have ever had; better built and more comfortable than the hideously expensive "ergonomic" chairs from office suppliers. On my rig I have GT-Omega XL-RS seat which I do like despite the inevitable flex as it supports me during endurance racing in a way most bucket seats do not. Once I put a Fanatec DD2 and V3i pedals on the Titan I realised it was not going to be stiff enough to stop significant flex in the frame and the pedals. That GTO have not addressed their pedal-plate more seriously is disappointing. Being 8020 profile it is possible to fit a better pedal plate, but then the cost would be higher than those which come with a stiff plate from the start. That makes the Prime an irrational purchase - it appears you would be paying less for the same performance, but in the end that is not true.

    • @dannyleeracing
      @dannyleeracing  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      It seems like that problem has been met, I've had confirmation that a new profile-based pedal plate design is about to hit circulation and I've even seen evidence that some folks ordering PRIMEs very recently have received the revised pedal platform in the latest batches. I'm yet to get my hands on one to revisit it but I am confident it'll patch up that little blind spot! Having said that, I've been using my Prime with the current pedal plate happily with V3's, it's when I upgrade to something stronger that the new design will come in handy.

    • @dannyleeracing
      @dannyleeracing  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      The P1X is the Prime's clear rival for sure, and the pedal tray could do with a rework to take it from 90% to 100%. I'm completely satisfied with the pedal setup myself because I happen to be in the goldilocks zone that the tray accommodates, but I'm well aware of the potential positioning snags with the design that just wouldn't exist with a profile-based pedal deck. The 'shorter' mounting pattern of Heusinkveld pedals and the likes probably exacerbates the flex, too, so it's a double whammy of having to make custom mounting holes and having more flex as a result.
      Probably a good excuse to upgrade pedals and see with my own eyes.
