Excellent work guys. Finally we get to see how the vehicle with the 48v system compares to a vehicle without the 48V system in terms of acceleration and economy.
FYI - GR Sport Hilux is not available with the V-Active 48V. It's optional on SR, standard on SR5 and Rogue and not available on GR Sport, presumably because of the tweaked engine in that model.
Can't wait till they give this thing the tech update it needs, once the time comes it'll probably also come with a full hybrid package (maybe a bit after the new Prado?)
update, yup. Start with getting rid of the outdated leafspring suspension and drum brakes. Hyvrid? Maybe. Options won't hurt, I guess. INLINE-6 3-Liter turbo diesel will spice it up a little bit. Something like B57.
@@hi9580 they are actual trucks, not like this which is a ute meant to be competing with the ford ranger. With the trucks, there isnt a single truck with a nice interior, therefore having no benchmark. The Hilux has a benchmark
Absolute joke. Mild hybrids are a 30 year old tech, and largely a waste of time. They should have a plug in hybrid that gives you 70 km battery range - and a VTL capability to run tools off. Toyota sucks
My Povo Pack Hilux workmate dual cab 2.7 petrol auto was the cheapest one in class I could buy new. Ideal for my acreage property. I would like one of these to be honest.

I work with Toyota in sales and I have an order for the Alpha. While its in warranty then why not, but you get 20,000 times more features, comfort, power etc etc etc....... for less money then the SR. No brainer while warranty is there incase something goes wrong.
Bro , Anmol jaisawal ( indian backpacker ) is in Australia now he will be travelling with scorpion n , you can take a review from him about the car , it will help your channel grow more.
How do they get away with doing the bare necessities for the interior and changing 1° on the face of the vehicle and still charging more than most other utes?
Halogen light? Still an old tech fashion cluster? And an old looking small infortainment still? 2024......$55K? Am i paying for titanium made? or just normal metal? But yeah the exterior look is decent and i love the color..... but...why bother upgrade then if it not much compared to the previous Hilux spec?
I keep thinking Toyota mustn't be able to sell their oil shares, with how much they're dragging their feet about just making EVs of their models. Which is disappointing. I love my Camry hybrid, but I'd be over the moon to have a Camry-E. As it is, my next car is going to be a Hyundai or BYD EV, which breaks my heart, because I've always bought Camrys before. I do appreciate it having halogen lights. No more being blinded by people's lowbeam LEDs
Whats with that urgency of modern garbage?? Reliability comes with a cost, in this case the cost is a dated truck, but this truck can last many many years more than a more modern truck!!
Thanks for the jolly friar style review - stop start is not for those emergency situations- at last Toyota has been dragged kicky and screaming to add a damped tailgate with gas struts- come on Toyota look after us and not your shareholders.
why is it that Toyota's great powertrain and reliability isn't paired with the same level of interior look and feel ... they don't care because Toyota already has enough of the market here?
How does Toyota still get away with 2005 interiors? Yes, it's a reliable drivetrain but so is the Triton. I can't see myself in a Hilux unless they lift their game.

I wish Toyota returns those tie-down hooks for the Philippines version of the Hilux. I find that feature really, really useful.
I wish it had LED Lights both front and rear.
It doesn't even have rear air vents... good luck!
i think the higher trims have LEDs.
Wow, that interior looks like its from a 15 year old car...crazy people would pay 55K for this.
My thoughts exactly the interior hasn’t changed in 15 years 😮 it’s just the same car and they change the grill every couple years rip off
More than $55K closer to $60K

Hino 300, Isuzu NPS, Fuso Canter interior is worse and those are $100k+

If you can't manage the tailgate why the heck are you driving a pickup ?
If the v-active stops working can you still drive the vehicle?
Wonder what your opinion would be like if the Fortuner gets the same 48V treatment as the Hilux (such model exists in South Africa).
Would like to see the gr sport with battery also where is your sidekick😊
Why? It does nothing for performance, is a safety issue and will cost a lot to replace when it wears out.
👍 nice, smart upgrade
It’s a bonus this update is also faster while being more fuel efficient.
It does nothing.

Neat approach to use electricity to save fuel with no outlet required. Sure would be nice to be able to buy one in the USA.
Give it a test off-road...and please use the same sr model
Ill drive my old shitbox until the government kicks me out of it for emission reasons. Because car companies need MORE money
I loved driving the Hilux while I was overseas. It’s too bad that we do not have it here in the US.
so when's the new model coming out?
2025
It's not a hybrid mild hybrids are just a gimmick that's why they aren't marketing it as hybrid to not confuse their actual hybrids
Would you buy this or wait for the 2025 model ?
Wait till 2025 I think but worried about how much more expensive new model will be?
Id still buy either model ☺️
In terms of interior, I prefer the vinyl steering wheel and hard plastic centre console lid.
After owning soft, they wear out fast.
How’s the vibration in the cab at idle?
It still a good old hilux 👍 build to last long
I'm pretty sure my mum's 2014 corolla has the same centre screen on the dashboard.
No it doesn’t. This one is slightly bigger.. ;) haha
None of the electric power goes to the wheels, it’s all to run engine accessories. Also the SR isn’t the base model.
How do we get a left hand drive GR or this model if we live in the US? Where can it be imported from?

why don't you get a tacoma?
Why would you buy a base model ute or a sr5 and not get a steel/alloy tray? That's just doing it wrong.
Hilux best pickup by far
Isn’t it bad for a diesel engine to turn on and off?

Shark by a mile. Toyota missed the opportunity to build something useful that could actually be a real hybrid, sadly.

Anything is better than made in China. But this sounds pretty good and I'd have it any day over a Ford.
Take a good look at the BYD Shark. Toyota missed an opportunity to compete.
I’m guessing this same engine will be coming in Fortuner & Prado soon.
