The one thing about some new Lexus models, the door handles. Fixing something that wasn't broken, all these buttons and whatnot to unlock/open the door is just so niche.

@@blueflameSM Lexus aren't what they used to be, that's for sure - they used to have a lot of quite distinct models - now they are almost all just reworked Toyotas, like Genesys or Acura.

@@blastercorpsyou dont need a super car. I have a 2013 V6 mustang with twin turbos pushing around 500 hp, sold my project new edge GT, have a mk iii supra. Never spent more than 40K for a car. Tbf my wife has sedan and honda itself, but its a newer 2024 civic SI she replaced her old GTI with. Point is you really don’t need to give up on fun cara just cause youre old, we’re both in our 30’s and while yeah thats not that old we sure as shit arent that young either. Her dad is in his 60’s and he drives an F250 and and one of the cleanest Datsuns ive ever seen in person. What you drive says a lot about you, but not necessarily that youre old. When i see somebody driving a new basic ass camry or accord i dont think “that person is old” i think “that person probably doesnt really care much for cars and but wants something nice, practical and reliable”. And that’s fine, but thats a personal taste interests thing than it is age thing. Friends been driving camrys since we were in high school

And you actually can’t get the JBL sound system on the base models. You can only get the 12.3 inch screen on the SE, that doesn’t come w the JBL.
just get base model and change out the speakers, it'll sound 10x better than stock JBL

It's just a creative way to include their sponsor. In reality, since those are not the tires that come with either car, it greatly changes the review of the actual car that people are buying.

@@kingair433I mean, you have a point. But tires change so much about the vehicle with regards to noise, ride, smoothness, etc that I’d rather the same car be compared on the same tire than having them on different ones and pretending that they have nothing to do with any driving characteristics.
It’s not like most of us change the tires within 20-40 thousand miles anyway.
It's sad that the biggest selling point for me is actual physical knobs and switches.
That and quietness/refinement are the clinchers for me. I'd get the Accord and if I lived in a cold weather state I'd get the CRV hybrid, which is way more refined than the rattly ass RAV4.
AWD for the Camry tips the scales for me. And will likely be the difference maker for a lot of folks in northern climates.
Why spend 40k on an awd xle when you can get a awd crown signia for 45k

@@Hallowsaw in canada an AWD XLE camry starts at $48,500 and a crown base model starts at $58,000, At that point just upgrade to a Lexus. The Crown seems pointless
@@dustinjohnston2241 Agreed, the Crown makes about as much sense as the Maxima did for Nissan, and any Buick does for GM.
@Hallowsaw Or just get an LE or SE awd for much less. If you want luxury, then it makes sense to grab a Venza or Crown Signia but if you just need usable and awd, you can't really beat the value of the lower Toyota trims. The heated seat and steering wheel package is also pretty cheap.

Most of us don't need AWD, and one thing that drives me nuts about my Toyota is the same complaint you guys had; you feel like you're sitting on top of the car when you're driving it.

@@angelgjr1999 In its class the Civic is more competitive, it's somewhat bigger for example than it's rivals and rides/handles very well.
The interior of the Honda gets a "D" for dour, dark and drab. For me its the interior of the Camry and the nicer audio system that wins me over. Also using a Linux info system is less likely to share driving information than a google based system. I am sure google would not mind selling your driver info to your insurance company as well.
So I’m about 15 min in and wanted to weigh in on my personal experience with the accord as I’ve driven it fairly extensively on loan from my local Honda dealership while my regular ride got worked on.
Yall are spot on with the pros and cons. That interior, while way more cohesive looking and better laid out than the Camry imo, is capital D drab. It reminds me of Volkswagen when they were at their peak; it’s very Germanic, very understated, to a fault. And I was driving an EX trim, which has even less material variability than the higher end hybrid models.
No rear vents is such a deal breaker for me. These are all things I think Honda will (and should) address in the refresh next year or so.
As far as the pros go: also spot on. The infotainment is solid even on the poverty spec and this is even better. And since they both drive relatively the same, the better seating position and ergonomic layout of the accord swings a win for me over the Camry. The seating position is so good and everything just falls to hand. The cupholder placement in particular is just fucking perfect. Sounds ridiculous but in a car like this it matters.
Both my kiddos loved the backseat space too and that trunk is truly gigantic.
While you can’t go wrong with either, I think even with my gripes, it’s the driver interface, simplicity of controls and better seating position of the accord that wins me over for the Honda. I do dig the Camry, but those little intangibles are a big deal.
Now for the love of god get some color and rear vents in that interior, Honda.

In Asia, Honda has been known for being obsessed with copying German brands, especially VW and Audi. Their consoles in the recent models of the Civic, Accord, and CR-V are nearly identical to those in the Audi A4. The CR-V exterior looks almost the same as VW Taos. Now Honda also wants to move forward as an EV only, like Audi. In Asia, Honda has never been a leader in auto manufacturing. They like to follow others.
11gen hondas have less features than the 10gen
I got a accord exl a few weeks ago. Mine has the grey and black interior. Its only available on 3 colors. Red, white, and the metallic grey. The grey and black interior is so much nicer.

The Accord has always had a edginess to it and IMO it doesn't disappoint in the hybrid version. I really like Honda's new hybrid setup. As Jack pointed out cant go wrong with either choice but I would lean towards the Accord

“edginess” meaning fake shift sounds and being much slower than a Camry especially when you get to higher speeds.

@@paulhenry913 LOL Toyota constantly ranks more reliable than Honda. That Accords “transmission” has clutches that will go bad long before the Toyota’s planetary gearset cvt.
Great review as always guys. Btw, in terms of advertised vs actual mileage, my 23 Accord Hybrid blows past 50mpg every tank year round surpassing the advertised mileage. Living in the NY/NJ area i get a pretty good mix of driving conditions.
I'm glad the newer gen is getting better mileage. My 2019 hybrid would go up to about 42/45 mpg at most. But, on the lower end it would never get below 36, even when towing a motorcycle trailer going 75 mph.
Great, what people don’t realize is even though according to gets slightly lesser MPG than Camry the amount of Dollars they earn over a period is like less than 500$ , compare that to the ridiculous amount of overpay these Toyota dealers asking for

Agreed. I bought the Camry LE with option package. As an entry level trim, I think that it is the car to get. It has more than enough "features". I did not AB it with the Honda but to get the same ride in a hybrid vehicle , I would have to go with Honda Touring trim. That is much more than I would be willing to spend on a new car.

Maybe concurrently. Both have looked good/bad on release or as time goes on. That said, I am not a fan of this Honda design. Reminds me of the final gen Ford Taurus front in a way.

I’ve had my 25 Camry for 1200 miles now, SE with multimedia upgrade, sunroof, convenience package. It’s been good to me so far. Some door trim rattling which I need to get fixed but aside from that it’s been very good to me
I'm sure that the felt wheel and under body panels do something for noise, but as someone that lives where there is a bunch of snow and slush for about half the year, I hate them. It absorbs water, gets heavy and sags, than freezes. It then gets torn up on ice chucks because it is hanging too low. I had to get new panels and then soak them in epoxy to harden them and prevent them from absorbing water. I'd take slightly more noise over that hassle any time.
I like the felt in the wheel wells, in my experience it holds up well in Midwest winters. Never had it on the underbody though
Toyota/Lexus is innovating here and offering feature set value (for the price) like Hyundai/Kia has been doing for years. About dang time!

Toyota doesn't do custom orders, so their "options" set up means you never know what you're gonna get when looking at one from a dealer. Good luck finding one that has exactly what you want.
Accord doesn't have as many options outside of dealer add ons, but it means there's less BS finding the one you want. EX-L met most of what I wanted, and made it easier to find one I wanted.
Good luck getting ANY Toyota hybrid at MSRP or less at this point too
You can definitely get Corolla and Crown hybrids at (and below) MSRP. Give this 6 months and the Camry will also be below MSRP. Sedans just aren't in that much demand.
Fitzgerald Toyota in Maryland sells at MSRP. Warrenton Toyota in Virginia sells at MSRP. It’s a long list with a 2 minute Google search.

@@ywkhgqo not that hard to get what you want with a little looking. My camry has the exact spec and feature set I want. Vast majority of buyers aren't doing custom orders so it isn't all that surprising Toyota doesn't do it
Thank you for the review, I absolutely agree with everything being said here. Test drove a Camry and just couldn't bear the whining noise, then test drove an Accord and was blown away by how much more refined it is and eventually bought the Accord.

Honestly, the full black interior in the Honda pulls on my goth heart strings.... But, just like the majority of my vehicles in the past, I just about die in the summer with how hot they get.... That's the only reason I'd consider skipping that one

I think Honda had a pretty much perfect "budget" sedan with the previous gen. 2l turbo. Regular 10 speed or 6 manual. This gen appeals to seniors.

The Honda hybrid physically connects the gasoline engine to the wheels at Highway speeds for reasons of efficiency. Otherwise there's conversion loss, twice
Correct. I wonder if a V6 in the same setup livens things up and allows it to be put in their larger platforms.
The fake shifts also dont use the clutch, unlike what Mark says. It is emulated purely by engine rpm. Thats why sportmode stops fake shifting at high speed for most power. Highest available power is with clutch disengaged so inverter can combine max engine power + boost from battery. Electric motor power is the limiting factor.
The engine can also directly provide electricity to the wheels without going to the battery if needed as well.
Sometimes it blends the clutches into the simulated shifts, from standstill to 200kmh it starts electrical, continues with 1st clutch, disconnects it and goes into simulation, after that it continues with 2nd clutch and keeps it until maximum speed.
You can notice the sprocket symbol in the center of the dash

Interior noise dampening really does mean a lot to me (I put a lot of miles on broken highways and gridlocked cities). I’d probably make my decision purely based on that. When I’m in my motorcycle I want the wind around me. When I’m in a car I want an isolation chamber.
Oddly enough, if you're going to the high end trims, you're getting dangerously close to the Lexus ES and IS, Audi A4, Toyota Crown, and Acura TLX. If isolation is your number one priority, you'd probably be better off going a hair more expensive (or CPO) on one of those entry luxury vehicles, since they're considerably more insulated.

@@Mark-eu6mc absolutely - even saving a bit longer isn't out of the question since there are usually great deals on the ES. Or, for that matter, a CPO Avalon if the Crown is too outlandish (or you want the V6).
@@aprtur In order to get similar features in an ES (better sound, hud, etc) including hybrid engine it basically shoots its price up to more around $52,000. That extra $10,000 may be worth it depending on what you're willing to spend, but I'm still torn.

I have the CRV Hybrid. It also has awd. I bought this solely for the exact reasons you noted in this review, notably a far more refined drivetrain and interior isolation. It isn’t as good as my prior CX5 but it was way better than the rattley and unrefined RAV4. This still gets 39 mpg which is good enough for me. I’ll take refined and smooth any day over pure efficiency.
CRV hybrid over the rattly RAV4 easily. RAV4 feels like a tinbox from 20 yrs ago.
@@sk-un5jq We had a 2021 RAV4 and it was solid. Thick heavy doors so I don't know what you mean by rattly or tinbox. It drove like fridge and the engine sounded like a coffee grinder but otherwise it felt like a tank.

48.3 MPG, 300+ miles into 2nd tank of a 2024 Accord Hybrid Touring version - typical suburban driving - admittingly serene driver most of the time. I almost bought the 2024 Camry V6 since they are going away forever...it was a sweet motor. Great review.

Good info on how Toyota handles your private information and usage. I’ve never seen anyone do a technical analysis of the JBL systems. JBL is not a Mark Levinson system but I like how it sounds on my Avalon with 14 speakers and 1200 W amp.
I do happen to like the Bridgestones I just got on my new car. Never tried them before and yet the mileage is good, ride is pretty good, handling is good, and it lasts a long ass time. Good recommendation guys 👍🏻

Just bought an Honda Accord Hybrid EX-L and I love it. The Camry just became pricey when adding the option that I wanted. No regrets at all.
As a proper petrol head I just can't get over the fact that they had a pretty much perfect sedan with the previous gen. 2l turbo with 250hp and 10 speed transmission. None of that cvt crap. Plus you could get it with a 6 speed manual as well. This gen with it's puny 1.5 or hybrid feels like it was made for the elderly.
@@TermlessHGWMasses don’t want that.. just take your iphone as an example.. you want 20 hours of charging and need to be thinnest possible while running multiple apps with the biggest possible MP cameras… who wants the original Manual transmission these days? I think people are being too harsh on the 11th Gen Accord just because the Accord wasn't quite as far ahead of the competitors as the 10th Gen Accord and it felt like there wasn't as much effort put into this generation specifically. But it's still a great car and still competes well with the Camry.

U know when u turn on AC it doesnt matter if you have rear vents or not its gonna be cold in the whole Cabin ? Seems ppl dont understand that. So much crying about rear vents.

While I think that the Accord has a 20 year old digital display I do however like the interior, I like its understated class. Everyone is doing that bold contrast stitching, and I feel the camera is over the top with it..they tried to over glitch up a family Camry .
I haven't driven the new Camry hybrid but the current Accord hybrid definitely beats the old one for me.
Accord hybrid is like a budget Lexus ES hybrid. Smooth, quiet, refined.
2023 Accord Hybrid EX-L owner here. Best purchase I've ever made. The way the transmission works is amazing. Wish there was a plug-in variant.

There is no tranny, its just the e-motor driving the wheels, thats why its sooo smooth.
Why does plug in variant exist?
The better comparison would have been with the Accord Touring. Having a fully loaded XLE was not fair against the Sport-L.
The accord hybrid touring is $39k. Not sure that’s a fair comparison.

@@brenttitus2134 I stand corrected (yikes that’s a lot of options.. XLE MSRP starts at $35k). But it was an availability issue; no Touring trims were available for filming.
