No matter how the competitors “dress up” their cars, people keeping coming back to Toyota for the intangible asset. Do you think Ford can really compete with Toyota on the above intangible values?
I have a 2022 Hilux SR5 dual cab. What I'd like improved is the GCM to 6500KG, a smoother ride unladen, get rid of all the electronic crap (if you need them to drive you shouldn't be on the road anyway). Happy with the 2.8 diesel and 6 speed auto, I like the interior especially the extra pullout cup holders at each end of the dash, Like the width of the vehicle for getting down melbourne city streets and getting into carparks. Keep the interior, ignore this chap, it's fine don't change anything. Though the GPS is marginal at best. USBC would be nice and a second USBA for my plugin USB stick (can't stand Radio). The seats are fine, I've done many long distant drives in the Ute with no back problems. Good additions would be an integrated Dashcam with viewing to an APP (Iphone/Android), All Terrain Tyres, a Tow pack with integrated controller and maybe Anderson plug (dual Batteries), An off road pack with Bullbar/driving lights/winch and dual batteries, And maybe do a deal with a canopy maker or two to remove the tub and put a good tray/metal canopy for the tradesmen/explorers on all series. Just my thoughts.
The video somewhat right, interior needs to be redesign, but to me Hilux a workhorse like 70 series, so tech and simplicity should be balanced carefully... Never understood why the Hilux not using a Prado cab for more room and space (maybe weight issues?) Or go with the T100 width and make a 6 person cab would be something...
Pretty much agree, hopefully weight of the vehicle doesn’t end too heavy and drive like a boat. The other is payload and hopefully it’s as close to 1,000kg as possible without affecting novated lease. Analog gauges are a must, at the very least the ability to select this on a digital screen would be an acceptable compromise. It doesn’t need a V6, a good Hybrid system should be able to lift performance, then you have the fuel economy and proven reliability of the 2.8 turbo diesel. I’m certainly open to a plug-in Hybrid with the 2.8 turbo diesel, as long as it’s around 80klm range and doesn’t affect payload or make the vehicle too heavy … I’m open to the idea of eliminating the front differential and making it electric drive, but keeping direct drive to the rear differential, that way you are eliminating some weight, like the transfer case and front differential to compensate for the battery, inverter and motor. Plus you then have a fail safe option to get home if you have an electrical failure … cool backup system for the bush. Perhaps around town in electrical power it’s just front wheel drive. Constant 4x4 would be turbo diesel to the rear and electric to the front.

Toyota never cared about the interior but they give an engine that will last a life time let’s be honest.. but I am with you interior needs updating for that price tag!
you forgot Nissan navaro ,Mazda B series pickup
I agree with everything. Nice video. They need to move with the times. The new Ford Ranger Platinum is something they should try to chase.
Needs a variant with the supra engine! Forget all that other shit, last thing drivers want is technology that nags, annoys or intrusively takes over. Even less desirable is a connected vehicle that has the capability to upload driver stats to the cloud so they can be sold to insurance companies.
New Prado has same drive train as the updated Hilux. Hope Toyota AU do a better job marketing it, the Prado launch keeps being pushed back, with no official information and generally keeping us all in the dark, including their dealers, who seem to know zero about the car.
Guess because the Chinese keep bringing a new innovative model every 6 months and Toyota is playing serious catchup - expect they're worried as soon as they release the Prado, it will already be surpassed by some Chinese model.
Plz Toyota I'm waiting to buy. The Tacoma is what we want
9th generation Hilux should come 2027 not earlier 2025 Mini Land Cruiser model Compact Cruiser should have new Prado interior .
Toyota is having issues around the world. They are now on the same tier as the rest of the market. My son works for a local Toyota dealership and he is having cars that are bricked on delivery. That is a problem,
When the hilux comes. It will be no 1
Fence sitters anonymous wants their poster boy back, can you please make a recommendation? How about we start reviewing instead of regurgitating other reviews and literally linking them...
Yes, slowly but surely, Toyota have been losing their way. Sad, but true.
The cabin of my 2011 Corolla looks better than most of the current cars they are selling. So boring and dated. Currently looking to purchase a new vehicle it definitely won't be a Toyota. Deciding between tesla, zeekr, xpeng or kia
Id like to get a Toyota, but I can justify their price for a car that has tech from 2010.
Needs a bigger tub.
Toyota execs watching this:
Naaaah.. it'll be fine..
😂
That's what the Kodak and Blackberry execs said 😅
Ford Ranger PHEV Hyundai Arizona BYD Shark Catipilar Ute Kia Tasman new model utes ahead first down under Toyota Hilux generation 8 3rd facelift .
is that one model ? lol need to add some , , , , ,
Stick to my 95 Toyota Crown thanks
Fix the damn interior i have a 22 model sr5 and its a great car but considering i paid 75k the interior is horrendous throw some extra options in like drive mode select ect better speakers cooled, heated and massaging seats would be great seeing as tho most people buying these cars are tradies and have messed up backs
Omg, toyota can you just make 2 hilux trucks, one for tradies and another for snowflakes
Stay tuned for March 2025 Toyota has sent out a bulletin to all Toyota dealerships.
Import Tacoma. Job done.
need one more plant right now they are built in baja California Mexico plant , maybe a plant in so America for that market and auz
I've been plucking Toyota for over 30 years. I bought a Toyota Yarras 2017 brand-new and the paint looks like shit in 4 yeas.very disappointed. Step it up use some good quality paint too.
So you want the hilux to become a suv
Never buy a Toyota again. Very poor value for money & reliability is not deserving. My Prado had 3 tail shafts to fix an issue.
My Prado has been the best car I’ve ever owned and swapping into a Hilux shortly. I pretty will only buy Toyota. Stand by them big time
3 tail shafts? Your dealer shafted you😂😂
I've had a Hilux's as a work vehicle for 10 years now (not the same one) I can't stand the interior! Poor quality and 10 years behind its competitors! Don't even get me started on the price of these rattlers!
Toyota know exactly what to do, however while Australians are happy to pay top dollar for their unbreakable hiluxes why change
That said I have noticed a noticeable increase in Chinese made vehicles on our roads that is increasing at an incredible pace, Australians love affair with
Toyota may be on the brink of change especially when you see what’s on offer
The word is getting out FAST
no dont need any of that technology, what we need is basic pick up that what hilux known for, dont need to be luxurious men
Bye-bye Hilux. We have them for work cars. I do not like driving them at all.
Get my new Ford Ranger platinum next month.
Please give us a petrol engine! Hybrid petrol. 👍🏽 Modern diesels suck! Oh, Toyota needs to announce its not the messiah. Toyota zealots to get some therapy and accept the Hilux is a mediocre vehicle at best….
Yes I’m hoping they put a petrol back into the Prado
Name a better ute that's the same price
Well, the NA customer was saying they want the diesel beast, and here we got this
As much as i like toyota reliability ( ive had a lot of cars, none can compare). They made the worst entertainment/features ive seen in cars. My tape is riddled with connection issues, and the menu was horrendous.
The supra is a bmw😂
Oh what a ripoff.......
Nobody wants a plug in hybrid. Hybrid yes- plug in no
Expect anyone with rooftop solar - that's 30% of homes in Oz- wants a plugin. What's not to like about free 100km range? And 650Nm!
Stick a V6 petrol in it. Diesel sucks.
lol this dude speaks like he is in a rush to go do a big poo
Nah, that's enthusiasm.
@@Expedition_Tranquilo so naive!!
