- Recently my good buddy Arran and I did a Road Trip round the UK in his brand new 992 Turbo S taking in Cheddar Gorge, Breacon Beacons, Lake District, Cairngorms, John O'Groats, Isle Of Skye, Loch Ness, Loch Lomond, and a Motorway blast back. What have we learnt?

Good summary. Personally I prefer the more hard-core GT versions (you'd never guess!), but as you say Arrans one will be more capable, smoother and definitely faster.

I’m in London and went for a lovely green on tan option. Just spent a few days with it this weekend. Interestingly in wet mode spoiler comes up a bit but front lip doesn’t deploy.

Interesting about the wet mode, maybe the spoilers do what they do in sport and not sports plus, so no front lip and rear spoiler half up?
@@RickTheSpud yeah it might be that, i'll keep an eye out next time i put it in sport mode. On another note, I have heard a ticking noise from the rear right, and searching on internet forums, sounds like a common 992 problem with engine mounts, so might be time for a dealer call just as soon as i got it 😂

In the Vehicle Settings on your Digital Dash on your 992. You can tell the vehicle "NOT" to Lower your Outer Mirrors down when backing-up by "Un-Checking" the Box that allows for this! I Hate when it does this, and you can easily disable it in your Center Consul Digital Dash under "Vehicle" Settings!

It doesn't need to be that complicated tho. On all other cars, just leave the switch to one side and it doesn't tilt them. 🤷♂️

I am amazed people spec the Burmester across the 992 range. Whilst the engine note is addictive when you are flooring it, I find motorway cruising painful because of the tyre noise. I am seriously considering wearing noise cancelling headphones on my long commutes.
Really? Didn't find that at all. What tyres you got on? What speed you doing? Where are you based?
Goodyear Eagles on this and we did Scotland to South Coast UK in one hit and it was quiet and lovely.
@@RickTheSpud I have a 2S but have also driven a GTS. Admittedly I haven't driven the Turbo S so maybe its different. I guess your experience is similar to what Harry's garage stated in his review. I have the same tyres (F1s) and at typical motorway cruising speeds 70-80 I struggle to make a phone call. (Commute up and down the m6 once a week). The commute actually makes me miss my G82 until the last hour which is all country roads!

The Turbo S is definitely a mile muncher so maybe it's quieter?
@@RickTheSpud He takes a decibel reading and strangely enough watching the different videos the reading is lower in the turbo s than than gts and 2s... so I think you are right.

The reason (according to Porsche UK) tyre temps are not displayed - 'Tyre temperatures are constantly changing, depending on road surface, surface temperature, tyre type, etc. The constant changes of a numerical display for the tyre temperatures could be misinterpreted with the more important tyre pressure reading. The temperature colour coding display is primarily to indicate abnormally low or high temperatures.'
Ah thanks Clive. Still seems misleading. When the tyres are warm to the touch the dash says they're stone cold. Just put the number like everyone else. They display the number for oil temp, pressure, etc.

That was the core of a long email from Porsche UK. I also phoned them up and a tech 'guru' (?), basically said if the display was showing 25, 45 or 65 degrees Celsius, would those readings mean anything to you? Got a point for most folk, me included. Nice series of videos.

Had a 991.2gt3, then a 992 GTS targa and now have a Boxster 4.0 GTS and really considering a turbo s cab and been following your videos. As a special car for the weekend, alongside a m3 touring daily woujd you re owns the turbo s
Turbo S cab would be wicked! Although I feel the whole Turbo S platform is too good and it's so easy to go too fast. That's why I love an NA Porsche. GT3 or GT4 cab is what I need! 😎👌
Honestly had so much fun on a b road in the Boxster 4.0, at sensible speeds. I woujd check it out, or the new Boxster Spyder rs
4.0 GTS sounds fun. Is that basically a 718 Spyder with an electric roof. Loved the 718 Spyder but the roof is a bit of a faf. Spyder RS is even worse. You have to build it with parts!
Same engine, more compliant suspension and electric hood, and £10k less so it’s all good. I do miss a 911 though, something g special about that car. M3 Touring is a weapon as well
100% Agree! Had the M3 saloon for a week, check out the videos on here, top 5 cars I've ever driven.
BEWARE: Porsche UK state the aftermarket grills invalidate the official 3 year warranty!

In fact Porsche UK won’t accept any mods if you want to keep your official Porsche warranty intact .
Yeah maybe. Those grills definitely aren't gonna effect the cooling tho.
