      I've had mine since July and had G50 Carreras nearly half my life. I was afraid the new T would feel too isolated... too refined. It doesn't. It's a blast to drive each and every time yet I drive it each and every day. It's the best of all worlds for me. And thank you G50... you bought the new T for me. And for mine I opted for everything lightweight - Carrera Exclusive wheels (forged), CF roof, 4-way seats (35lbs lightener than 18 way), and... no rear steering. Interesting that since that decision the S/T came out... sans RWS.

    I drove a 992 T, hard, and echo everything you said. The winning formula is in its usability and you not caring about it as much as a GT3. Cars you can just get in, drive and have fun with no worries. One of my favorite videos you’ve made. Nice to see you sliding it too.

    Many years from now, when all the ICE sports cars are long gone, real car enthusiasts will look back on this 992 T and realize that this was the last real “pure” analog 911.
    It may not be too long if the next 911 will be hybrid.
    These T’s will be very valuable and worth a lot of money then, but, the car has to be spec’d right - definitely manual, no sunroof, and the less options the better.
    We all know that to be a TH-camr you have to get the GT3, but it’s too much car for 99% of us car enthusiasts.
    And most of them will never see a track.
    God bless the Carrera T !!!

    • @thefridgeman
      @thefridgeman 10 หลายเดือนก่อน +3

      992.2 T will not be a hybrid. Only the GTS gets the 3.6 NA plus E motor and battery.
      Coupled with refinements, extra 10-15 hp, it might be that THAT 992 T is the last pure analog 911.

    • @elaineacedo
      @elaineacedo 10 หลายเดือนก่อน

      I do hope 2 things - that the T continues to be produced, and that it will not be hybrid. Knowing how Porsche does things, they will probably eventually discontinue this T trim out of the lineup.
      This 992.1 T is already pretty much perfect in my opinion so it is difficult to imagine what more Porsche can do to improve it. Cheers !

    Thanks for the video, high energy as usual mate! Just placed an order for my 2024 911 T. Spec it with: 7-MT, rear wheel steer, carbon roof, T seat spec in gray, and a few race-tex touchables and the fire extinguisher. Did it in "ice grey metallic" - the perfect enthusiast spec IMHO. Have the rear seats and comfort front seats, no RWS, have a sunroof and then take it to Litchfield for one of their 500 or even 600bhp packages! Would become a perfect (family) daily plus super great for Euro road trips with the boys 👌💙👍

  • @TheSunTheSea
    @TheSunTheSea 10 หลายเดือนก่อน +8

    My rationale was the same to pick a Carrera T over the S and GTS since ultimately I want a manual. And I can’t afford a GT3. The only piece I disagree with is needing rear axle steering. I decided to opt against it to keep the driving experience as pure as possible. If the 911 S/T doesn’t even have the option to equip with RAS then I think the T will be fine without it too

    • @diegodivers
      @diegodivers 10 หลายเดือนก่อน +3

      I was debating this forwards and backwards. My T doesn‘t have RAS. Do I miss it. No. But I have no comparison to the same car with RAS side by side. I have driven the GT3 (double wishbones, much sharper and more precise, agile), a 4s Targa (heavier, pdk, 4wd more gran tourer, more turbo punch) with RAS but they are very different cars. My idea was to build this as a very analogue divers car. Steering is very good in my opinion.

    • @TheSunTheSea

      Good to hear your experience. Unfortunately I never got a chance to test drive a T side by side with and without RAS. My car gets delivered in less than three months and I’m still confident I made the right choice leaving RAS out. I’m not saying it’s a bad option but I too wanted the analog experience (well, as analog as you’re gonna get in a 2024 car)

    Unless you must scratch a 911 itch (I’ve owned 5) or need rear seats the best Porsche sports car for the UK is a 718 GTS 4.0 Cayman or Boxster (looks better than a 911 cab). More powerful, N/A, lighter, smaller + £30k cheaper and soon to go the way of the Dodo which will make them rare.
    Harry Metcalf of Harry’s Garage said… “I would have one over any of today’s 992’s, something I would have never said in the past regarding a 911. It is one of the best Porsche’s that has EVER gone on sale. It is a gem and one I thought consigned to the history books. It is dare I say analogue brought up to date. History will teach us the 718 Boxster GTS 4.0 and Carrera Club Sport were amongst Porsche’s greatest sports cars”.

    I wished that @seenthroughglass as a former 718 Cayman owner, would have made the more sensibel comparison between the 992T and the 718 GTS 4.0.
    In every T review you see the comparison to much more costlier or unavailable cars, but there is a driver focused car in the Porsche line up, that is much more comparable in availability, costs, performance or even on the manual gear box.
    Even in your specific case, with a GT3 available, wouldnt a GTS 4.0 Cayman or Boxter be the better complementing car if you really wanted 2 driver focused Porsches? You could have 2 cars with a 4l NA engine and 6 speed manuals.

    Brilliant storytelling and transitions in the first 3 minutes (and the rest of the video of course). You start by talking about how much you drive your GT3, then explaining how much further you drove your previous Carrera T. This gives credit to your opinion about the newest Carrera T (subject of the video) as you have extensive experience in the previous version. You then transition into your ad for the mileage tracking app, explaining how helpful it is when you do all the previously mentioned driving. Maybe I am high but I thought this was brilliant for some reason.

    I genuinely think the GT3 (or the 911 S/T, essentially the purest GT3) is the absolute best sports car there is.
    But if you can't afford or can't get a slot for a GT3, I have no doubt the Carrera T is the next best thing.💛 Because as far as I remember the only difference between the T and the GTS is that the GTS gets more power (and fancier interior options) for A LOT more money! So I would just save the money and get a Carrera T, 400 hp is so much already 😂

    I bought a 991.2 4S in 2019. It has sports chrono, rear wheel steering and all the normal trim you’d expect. The price was $124,000 or so. For grins I just spec’d a new 2024 4S and the price on Porsche’s web site configuration tool was $170,000. So, in a bit over 4 years they’ve raised the price $50,000! About a 40% increase - well beyond inflation. This is the cost of paying for Porsche to develop a bunch of EVs no one asked for or wants. And - there’s almost no 911 new inventory to buy. If you want a 2023 or 2024 911 - you have to buy a used one that’s been bought, thrashed with endless launches for a few hundred miles, and then flipped back to a dealer at a price premium. So, you pay a premium on top of an already inflated MRSP for a car that’s been abused by a speculator for 6 to 18 months. No thanks. I think I’ll hang on to my perfect 991.2 with 6,000 miles on it and maybe spend a few bucks on mapping and some money to track it - spare set of tires, truck fees etc - vs - getting ripped off on a model refresh.

So after your video finished and I gave you my regular "thumbs up" I opened my browser to the Porsche Australia website to configure "my" 911T. Well it was base car in white (German racing white?) with TWO options: power steering and rear wheel steering, nothing else. The price on road (that's registered and ready to drive away) was (drum roll) AUD$335,615 - approximately half the price of my home!!! That my friend is 🐂💩. For less than ¼ of the price I could have a Toyota Supra, not as good as a Porsche 911T you might say but the Porsche is probably NOT four times better. I think that generally, the 992 suffers from excessive roundness on the exterior. It is sporty, but lacks aggression due to all the rounded edges, corners and fenders. The Aerokit really helps break this up a bit and give a Carrera just a little more aggression that’s missing with the active rear wing.

    Great Video. Just goes to show you dont need a GT product to enjoy Porsche ownership. If a 380hp 911 can put such a smile on your face than so can a lighter mid engined Boxster S / Cayman / Spyder with 320/330hp. Dont let bragging rights get in the way of owning a great product.

    Love the videos! Any plans to do a similar video like this in a 718 Cayman GTS 4.0? I feel like a CGTS 4.0 and a 992 Carerra T have a similar philosophy of that old school analog feel

    • @thefridgeman
      @thefridgeman 10 หลายเดือนก่อน

      very different cars. Drove both at a race track.
      The 718 fits like a glove (also tight inside, like a glove) and easy to drive even at 8-9/10. Somewhat "understeery" if you don't play with the weight transfer a little.
      The 992 T is in a different world. Much more grunt down, slinging out of slow corners, huge rear grip but at anything above 7/10 needs a good hand to guide it. Faster than the 718. Same noise from the inside. And much more space.

    Sam: "I never knew 380 odd horsepower can be so much fun...." You can even have more fun for for a lot less HP. Try the MX-5. The ND wIth only 181hp, gives the best bang for fun IMO. The NA with even less hp is even more fun. Driving fun is not all about power. IMO it's a combination of the right amount of power and handling. Then add a dash of drving skills & an open twisty road (preferrably smooth), makes for one great driving experience.

    i have a 987 boxster, and this dialogue of should i change should i stay is a constant of porsche ownership. I went from an MX5 into the boxster and it is a better car in every single metric. It is without a doubt the most complete and thrilling car i have ever driven, pretty to my eye, quick enough on greasy back roads, great on the motorway , sounds the tits past 4k rpm.... but it's nearly 15 years old and keeps throwing me 4 figure bills, and after a while you start looking in the classifieds at other porsches and playing with different specs, only to realise that i'd only try and replicate what i have. Moral of the story? Drive the piss out of what you do have and love it for what it is.

    Surprising you went with the Shell card/app. I dumped theirs for the Porsche endorsed ESSO card. The Esso Premium fuel is a higher octane than Shell and of course you can use it all over Europe as long as you specify that when ordering your card. You get all the same account tracking facilities as most other fuel cards and at least 5% off every litre of fuel.

    • @diegodivers

      For me the T is a. more road orientated sports car than a track car. The back seats are just about 6kg. Honestly you don‘f feel there any difference. I ordered them back in and I am very happy with my decision. It makes the car far more practical and more a classic 911. It also just looks nicer, imho. Maybe reselling value is better without the seats, but you buy the car for yourself.
