I built my own 1850 engine, I clearanced the case myself, I have straight cut cam gears I installed,a real hands on mechanic don’t wear women’s gloves.
You are building a nice little engine. Then you try to kill it with just about the worst. exhaust. that you can put on a beetle. Replace the exhaust with something decent and release up to 10 hp and get a cooler running engine.
@@martinharris5017 That muffler is just about the worst muffler to put on a VW engine. It has wrong resistance (too much) which kills power and increase head temps more than needed when you use the power. The only advantage it has is that it is cheap. There are many better solutions. If it has to exit in the factory cut outs there are not so many cheaper ones. One solution could be the JP Group Classic style www.hovwdiaudi.dk/product/?id=8120802000&cbrand=vw&cmodel=TYPE%201%20BEETLE good up to 80-90ish hp, or Vintage Speed SS143 or the CSP Super comp muffler system. Even the Empi Hot dog muffler (GT 2 tip) is better, but it is kinda loud.

What about the 1800 over the 1776 with the 74 crank /w slip in 88s nice cam preferably cheater cam Engle and panchito 92 heads big valve's yeah now your talking and with Porsche rods

4 into 1 looks good to me. Good scavenging and the tips look a lot bigger than stock. Very nice motor, well done with lots of bling too!
why bother with 1641 ?? if your golng to rebuild go as big as you can afford 1776 ? 1835 ? and my favorite 1904

Needs tighter 3rd gear...4th too.
@@charlesmartin7347 the cylinders are too thin and they w a r p really easy and with that much stroke and rod angle it'd be a crappy motor
