      @@lxmero4591 i’ve noticed an improvement so far on my end! I upgraded to 32g. I’m not an expert, so I can’t say what you should do, but it might be worth a try to upgrade your RAM if you can.

    I have owned this laptop since October 25th of last year.. I installed 32gb of ram .. i have yet to use more than 14gb..so i highly recommend you only install 16gb ram.. save the extra money for a better SSD.

    • @cnseref1328
      @cnseref1328 3 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      @@atharv7562 I recently got a 2k monitor and this already weird laptop is now even weirder. Unless the game you play uses gpu fully -which is not the case in almost none of the games, especially with this laptop and Smartshift- playing on 2k instead of 1k will have minimal performance decrease compared to other PCs. If you look at benchmarks, the lower cpu model of this laptop performs a little on SOTR, for example. I tried Ac Odyssey and the fps difference between 1k and 2k is in most cases less than 5fps. Witcher 3 plays around 70fps on 1080p and on 1440p with too little changes on settings I have steady 60fps. Ghost Reacon Breakpoint also plays 60 fps on high/very high settings 1440p. But Ac Valhalla plays much less worse on 2k because the game already utilizes full gpu on 1080p and needs too little cpu usage. For 1080p gaming difference between internal and external monitor, there is a slight improvement on performance and a little decrease on temperature (because I do not use laptop keyboard, I raised cooler stand a little higher and airflow is better now - so, this also decreases a little temperature also)
      This is my impression on G5 with external monitor so far. If I didn’t return this laptop with this horrible cooling system it’s because I hoped rx5600m could perform better in other conditions. Even though I am trying to understanding it with external monitor, until now it seems to be working better and gpu can utilize more of its potential.
      PS: Although the game temps are a little lower (this is especially because 1440p depends less on cpu), idle temperatures are higher because monitor enables gpu usage. Gpu at idle is around 60 degrees and cpu around 65 degrees.

      I doubt it, only if you're using more than 16GB of RAM while gaming, which is unlikely because very few games if any will use more than 16GB RAM.
      You will probably get a boost if your current memory is x16 density and your new models are x8 density, or if the latency is better on your new memory, but that's because the memory will be faster, not because there's more of it

      You can't add a HDD or 2.5" SSD, but there's space to add an NVME SSD in addition to the one that comes from factory. I plan to do an installation guide for this too soon, but I'm currently working on another video, so it will come after that. If you can't wait, you need to remove the base using the same method shown in this video, disconnect the battery, and you'll find a slot for the additional NVME SSD in the bottom left, right next to the existing one.

      The only RAM that I know for sure works is the RAM I use in this video, I did try another pair, but they wouldn't run at their rated speed of 3200MHz so I sold them and got these. If you use that slower RAM you'll be leaving performance on the table, so I'd recommend getting some 3200MHz modules anyway.
      Does it work if you put the original RAM back in? Have you tried unplugging the main and CMOS batteries to reset the BIOS?
      If it works when you put the old RAM back in and resting the BIOS doesn't make it work, my guess would be that the RAM isn't supported

    I bought some ram that I thought had all the specs. 2x8, 3200, 260 pin 1.2 v. And my pc would start (bios) and it said new memory detected. I ran all the diagnostics and it detected it and said it was all working fine. When I went to reboot, completely black screen. Never went to dell logo. I'm so confused. I returned the ram and am going to try this specific one he reccomends but I feel like the one I got should have worked I just didn't know how to set it up. I even reset the cmos, switched the places of the ram and nothing.

    • @eburneentertainment9903

      XMP is proprietary to Intel, but if the laptop can support the rated speed of your RAM it should default to it. As I understand, this laptop only supports 1.2V DDR4, so if your modules are 1.35V you won't be able to run them at their rated speed

    I can't even repaste the thermal paste by myself let alone the choice of the paste so i have to use the one dell authrizes.

    • @eburneentertainment9903
      @eburneentertainment9903  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      For things like replacing the RAM I'd probably just keep my existing RAM and swap it back in if I ever needed to RMA the machine, I didn't see any warranty void if removed stickers, but it's possible that they can tell if it's been opened in software. I would be surprised if they voided your warranty for upgrading your own RAM as long as you didn't cause the issue that you're returning it for, that would be very anti consumer, but I can't say for sure that they definitely wouldn't do this. I guess it depends on how much risk you're comfortable with

      @@Tsulley I suppose you could think of it like the CPU is where the computer 'thinks', the RAM is the 'short term memory' where data is stored that the CPU might need soon, the RAM is also cleared any time you restart your computer, and SSD/HDDs store programs and data long term and data remains even when power is removed. Data will be loaded from the HDD/SSD to the RAM when something that relies on it is called upon, say, you start a program, that program will be loaded in to RAM for example, then the CPU can quickly access the data it needs as and when it needs it. Not sure how well I've explained that but I hope it helps! I've got another video that shows how to upgrade the SSDs if you want to do that also, just make sure you order the thermal pads for them as well as the new SSD(s).
