      I believe that connecter on the board under the second m. 2 slot and above the battery is the sata power and data connections
      The adapter for 2.5 inch is going 10 to 20 bucks on ebay if you want look it looks like it would fit there would have to mount the ssd with double sided tape If that is the case though

    i don't think you need the copper heat shield to properly install a new m.2 ssd. it's just there to aid in heat dissipation. which means you can replace it with one of those gumstick thingies

      This has been running fine for me. I set it on a cooler all the time with lid close. I use it on desktop 90% of the time docked. Fan runs hard when I’m processing videos but normal use is fine and like any other PC. I plan to repaste the CPU with MX-4 when I do the SSD adder next week.

  • @Thiennnnnn
    @Thiennnnnn 3 ปีที่แล้ว

    Hey, I think it is an either or for the ssd. If you have a big 2.5 ssd, and you have a bracket, you can place it in the slot. If you have a slim ssd, you can place it in the slot. I say this bc I only see one ssd slot, in which either a big ssd or a slim ssd can fit. I think they purposefully left out the ssd mount bracket so that you could place a slimm ssd in, because i did look into a bracket and it comes preinstalled in the 2019 models, not the 2020 models, like in this vid (th-cam.com/video/aCOE7PPA8Yk/w-d-xo.html&ab_channel=uFixTek) I think they want you to install a slim ssd in cause of the one port and because you didn't have a mounting bracket. I found the manual for the dell laptop and it states this:
    Your Dell G3 15 3500 supports one of the following storage configurations:
    ●One M.2 2230/2280 solid-state drive
    ●One 2.5-inch hard drive and one Intel Optane
    ●One 2.5-inch hard drive and one M.2 2230/2280 solid-state drive
    ●One M.2 2230 solid-state drive and one M.2 2280 solid-state drive
    So I think that you either have the first or the 4th slot. It is weird they would leave the slot available if you are not to use it. Also I found out that there are two types of cells a 3 and 4 cell. A 3 cell battery will make room for a mounting bracket, but in your case most likely you have a 4 cell battery, which is larger and takes more space, so they do not include the ssd mounting caddy with it. I can only assume that they left it open for air flow. So it should be that the 2nd and 3rd variant models were the ones that were meant for a hdd/ssd. Idk if this helps but it does clear up why they left that space open.

      Levi, no it shouldn’t void anything as it is a serviceable part. In the US, the Magnuson-Moss Warranty Act is a law that prevents manufacturers from voiding a products overall warranty for changing parts by the end user. If they can prove that your change caused other issues then they can fight it but they can’t flat out void a warranty only if the part directly affects something or an individual system.

      Not sure what is running slow on yours. Mine runs great. I watch the Task Manager Performance and the processor is overclocked and run at 4GHz. My RAM hardly ever gets used, usually less than 10GB out of 32GB. The GFX card definitely does a lot of the major video processing which frees up other resources. Computer does run hot. I’ve seen my core temps hit 100C during major video processing.

      Depends on your needs. I’ve been using it for over two months and it’s run great. I use for 4K video editing and processing with dual 24” monitors. It has a cooling pad on it all the time. This is much more versatile setup than a full fledge desktop machine.

      @@amanmittal4697 that's expensive. I got it for around $900 on deal and coupons. Also had some other Amex and cashback deals. I also put another $220 in for RAM and a 1TB NVME SSD. For $1,200, you can get the Intel i7 or AMD Ryzen version. But with the process power and GFX card in a small machine like this you will have to deal with heat management.

      For real, I don’t even is ports on that side, 2.0 USB and SD reader. Slow AF 25MB/s. All my stuff is connected to USB 3.0 or C on a WD19TB dock.
