Lived in LA from the 1960s to the late 90s and when I see those streets, it sure brings back memories. I was a teenager when I got a Christmas season job at the old Broadway store on Hollywood & Vine in 1965 and I remember standing on the top floor fire escape balcony looking down on the old Brown Derby restaurant on Vine Street. What a sight.
I'm glad it brought back some good memories for ya! I never got to eat at the Brown Derby. I would have loved to!!! That was such a cool looking building. Thanks for watching the channel! Have a great day!
Hello, Just a heads up, I have just booked an 8 day trip to Los Angeles for May! I will be staying at a different property every night. Some luxurious and some not. If there are and sights and or walks you would like to see please let me know and I will do my best to capture it for you? I hope everyone is well! Cheers!
Always planned a visit to Sunset n Marmont with my brother since we're big on the history, he passed last Sunday😢 Never wait till tomorrow, it doesn't come!
Good morning, Holly I'm very sorry for your loss. You should still make a trip in his honer. It's definitely worth seeing. He will be with you in spirit.
Thanks for your time! I really enjoyed watching your clip! Can't wait to get back to L. A. for my vacays. I live, now, in St. Cloud, MN. Workin' on it!!
Love the Chateau!! …..and the burger was PERFECTLY cooked!! After lunch I love to sit in the old school lobby, then stroll over to look at the pool. Being at the Chateau Marmont (behind the 40 foot hedges especially!) makes me feel like I’m in the south of France! 😀😎🥂
Thanks for watching! It's such a cool place! I, too, have my spot to sit and just soak it all in! Have a great day, and thanks again for checking out the channel! Cheers!
Thanks so much for the kind words! And for watching the video. I always just call the hotel, and the restaurant will take care of the reservation. They definitely do not do walk ins. Years ago, on our first stay there, we just walked down for dinner, and they let me know not to do it again. Haha. Thanks again!
I would definitely not move back! I love a lot of things about it. I can live in Florida for way less 💰 and taxes as well. I do enjoy visiting now a few times a year.
This video brings back very pleasant memories in LA. When I spent my holidays there, I always went to the Virgin megastore. who was not very far from Chateau Marmont. Hy from Paris 🇫🇷
We always SAY that Depp must own that building. It was a famous hippie restaurant called The Source in its day. I wish it would be restored somehow. Lived here all my life and you’re right: never went to that western place once. Went to Carny’s once and that’s was one time too many. I’m old enough to remember the Standard when the building was a retirement home.
Thanks for watching the video! That's cool you have some history on those 2 places. I never knew that about the Standard or that place on Sweetzer. Cheers, my friend!
@@TravelinSmitty Don't be silly. An under cooked burger can be fatal. And no burger is worth that price and you know better unless you are a goofy elitist snob. Up your bum
@@susannyysti869 I'm entitled to my opinion and for your information I had the opportunity to go but it didn't appeal to me. I lived in LA and I've been to Joan's on 3rd ( worth it ); Blu Jam Cafe ( worth it ); The Eveleigh ( worth it ); Gracias Madre ( worth it ); Crossroads ( worth it ) and Blue Cow Kitchen ( worth it ) just to name several and while I lived in NYC I dined at Minetta Tavern ( worth it ); 21 ( worth it ); The Russian Tea Room ( not worth it ); Tavern On The Green ( worth it ) Fig and Olive ( worth it ) just to name several so don't act like you are more than you are.......
0:12 Ya realized there was someone else there "good for them!" hahaha
Hey, that thing was comfy! I was pretty stoked for em! 😅
Cheers!

Would anyone who has left Los Angeles move back there now?
I would definitely not move back! I love a lot of things about it. I can live in Florida for way less 💰 and taxes as well. I do enjoy visiting now a few times a year.
Lots of cool things to see there!

That's a great story! I'm glad you got a kick out of it. It's crazy how much it changes there. Cheers!
The burger did not look cooked hope it was good and you were ok after
It was amazing! I order good burgers, Medium Rare. I was happy as a goat afterward. Lol
Cheers!
That was great - didn't know you could have lunch at the Chateau Marmont.
Hey, thanks!
You can always call them and make a reservation. They are normally very accommodating.
I appreciate you tuning in to the channel!

some say there is a tunnel that goes from Pink Taco to the Marmont
I have tried to see if that rumor is true for 2 decades and still have no answer. Lol
Nice tip you left there.
I was once just Bartender Smitty!
Thanks for tuning in!
Cheers!
My favorite street in the USA….hope it doesn’t go downhill.
It's definitely one of mine as well!
Thank you for watching!
I definitely want to stay at Chateau Marmont if I ever make it to LA.
It's definitely a magical place!
Thanks for watching the channel!
Cheers!
Ah my old neighborhood miss it
Thanks a million for watching the channel!
Did you have to book your lunch in advance? I really would love to just visit for food. Thanks for this , great video.
Yes! They are reservation only unless you are a hotel guest. 👍
Jim Morrison walked them streets at one time drunk.
That he definitely did! 😅
Thanks for watching! Cheers!
excelllllent.
Thanks! Cheers!
I believe Morrisey lived on Sweetzer also....
Yep! He sure did have a home there.
Cheers!
Great architecture ! I think I am more of a In-Out burger kind of guy looking for a girl that enjoys a good Dorito or two....lol Any Takers?
It's a once a year kinda place for me when I'm in town. I have zero business in that hotel. 😅
Thanks for watching the channel!
I know why they shut down the standard...
Just walking by that place reminded me of a crime scene. The only thing I ever heard was they couldn't make it after covid.
Spooky old place. Such an odd location on the Strip, Billboard and all. Bungalow #3.
It definitely has some spirits!
I miss the Marlboro man out front.
Thanks for tuning in!
Cheers!
Didn’t John Belushi die there? What room was that? No5 5o be disrespectful BUT, I don’t think I could ever stay there in that room!😢
Yes! He died in bungalow 3. 😢
Thanks for tuning in to the channel 🙏
you tip 50%?! why 😅🎉🤨
Cause I can! Lol
I live cruising Sunset Blvd to PCH
Yep! That's a cool drive!
Thanks for watching!
Fun Fact : Jim Morrison fell off the roof here . Landed on a balcony. ,sparing his life.
You know it!!!
Thanks for watching!
Cheers!
Burger looks rare.
Med Rare, and it was killer! Cheers!
I really didn’t need or want o see the men’s bathroom
You gotta explore the space! And it's one of the only places you can have your phone out. Lol
Why is everything painted gray these days? Gray is for prisons & tombstones.
I gotta feeling not much has changed here in years. Lol
Thanks for watching!
Cheers!
Expensive real estate, and homeless elsewhere
That's definitely true!
Thanks for watching!
Cheers!
$65 for a burger and diet coke. Roger that. Lol.
Trust me when I tell you it's worth every penny! Thanks for watching!
Cheers!
He gave a thirty dollar tip. What a nice guy!!
I wasn't always Travelin Smitty. One time, I was Bartender Smitty. 👍
65 bucks for a raw hamburger?
A waygu burger, absolutely! And it's worth every penny! 😅

Not worth it.......
Well, it definitely holds great memories for me...
Only people who never been there, think it's " not worth it"
Well, it's definitely one of my favorite spots in WeHo. But I can see how it's not for everyone. I do appreciate you watching the video!
Cheers!
I wish I could afford to stay there on every visit to LA!
