I worked on the original BACK TO THE FUTURE and so many other films and TV shows highlighted in your videos...
I too am British but have lived in the HOLLYWOOD area for some 48 years. Yes, I know all the locations being a HOLLYWOOD historian, even gave tours of such and the movie ranches within the 30-mile Studio Zone. We shot the scarecrow and barn scene of BACK TO THE FUTURE at the Disney ranch...
People wonder why I don't start a TH-cam channel, but I admire the younger people who do it... I'm fortunate and blessed that I lived it!
Wow, that’s amazing. How interesting. I’d love to just sit you down and listen to you for hours.
I think you would be incredibly popular just doing a podcast talking about all of your experiences in the industry.
Don’t underestimate the power of movie and tv and the millions of people who hold said shows very dear to their heart. They’d love to hear your tales.
Thank you so much for watching. I feel genuinely honoured that someone in the industry has watched a video on our rinky-dink TH-cam channel.
M&L
@@msvdronetube When I gave location tours in the 1980's, I was the first to show my guests edited clips of the classic movie locations I was showing them, using a portable VHS player.
I won a few industry awards for these tours which were very specialized, not the usual and literal "taking folks for a ride."
Yes, I worked on so many Universal movies like the original BLUES BROTHERS, SCARFACE, PSYCHO II, XANADU and numerous TV shows...
At Warners I was on the original LETHAL WEAPON, worked for producers Michael Landon, Aaron Spelling etc... I even produced documentaries on the studios and locations.
Yes, I knew the value and importance of movies and TV pop culture, and their value in social engineering us into the Twilight Zone we are in now.
As well as knowing the locations, I knew the people that made them iconic. I knew people like the legendary Rod Serling, and boy was he right about what was to come!
And the statue of Liberty scene in PLANET OF THE APES, that was Westwood Beach, just south of the popular Zuma Beach, and I knew matte artist Emil Kosa who painted that statue!
I’m so interested in Movies and TV shows. I find driving around LA to be one of my favourite things in the world as everything looks familiar to me.
Blues Brothers is my all time favourite movie. I’m yet to visit Chicago to do a road trip of those filming locations. I’m gutted that they’ve demolished Rays Music Exchange in recent years.
Rod Serling was a master of his craft. I watch at least one episode of Twilight Zone a week and enjoy picking out which ones we’re filming on the Universal Backlot, which it turns out was most of them actually.
It’s such a shame that they’ve recently destroyed part of the Warner lot too. Lethal Weapon, Christmas Vacation, American Beauty to name a few are all iconic movies and I’m sad I’ll never get to see them again.
Do you have any online links to those documentaries or have they been lost to time? I’d be fascinated to watch them and I’m incredibly grateful you’d be commenting on one of our videos.
Thank you
@@msvdronetube Unfortunately I don't have any links to show my work, being an old man now I have trouble just trying to stay alive...
As for the TWILIGHT ZONE, only the first season was shot at Universal, and the same for RAWHIDE... they both found a home at MGM for the rest of their runs.
Speaking of Universal and the BLUES BROTHERS, I did the LA and studio locations -stage 1 the CW "Rawhide" bar, stage 6 the Aretha Franklin diner, stage 27 the James Brown church, the Hollywood Palladium was the Illinois auditorium, the Blues mobile took off in Chicago and landed on Universal's New York street... the same street that was tarped up for all the night scenes shot in daylight for STREETS OF FIRE etc., etc.
Even in old age I have good recall of all that, but I often forget what I did 2 minutes ago!
enjoyed the video! thank you for the effort to put this together on your vacation.
Actually, I’m editing now we’re all back home.
We miss USA so much though.
That’s for watching.

Thank you for taking us around ❤

I love the section on Psycho such a great film
Id be watching the planes taking off from my hotel window all day
Thanks Dave, I agree. It was amazing how the place hasn’t really changed in 65 years.
Yeah, I’m the same, I love a runway hotel room.

Are you guys from England?
@@missysequichie9311 Yeah, we’re from UK, although emotionally we’re from USA. We love it there so much and already can’t wait to go back.
Well I bet it's lovely there..I've been to Haiti for mission trip in 2010..that's as far as I've been..you guys have a safe trip..and I hope you guys come back ..
@missysequichie9311 thank you and thanks so much for watching. We’re only a small channel but this video has taken off more than our usual stuff. M&L
We love you MSV DroneTube, wow this is the best movie location video i seen and the first video from your channel i seen, this is the video that made me wanna subscribe, now i realise you got loads of other good videos too, how the heck did i not find this channel in the first place? lol
Thanks very much for your kind words.
I wouldn’t say it’s the best but I did try to ensure it was as accurate as I could make it.
We’ll be making more filming location videos in the UK soon so stay tuned.
Best wishes M&L
@@msvdronetube really? In the UK? Wow I hope you keep me posted I would love to meet you and yes of course this is the best lol. Maybe you don't think so but I definitely did. That's how you won a subscriber from me lol
Excellent video
Thank you. M&L
I really loved your video. I didn't know where most of those iconic places you went to actually were. Just a heads up. The Ash Scene in Big Lebowski was filmed at a place named "Sunken City" down the coast in San Pedro. They did film the Jackie Treehorn beach party scene right where you were at Point Dume. Great video! Well done! I'm glad you had a great time here in Los Angeles!
Thank you so much for watching.
I always thought that scene was Point Dume, guess I’m miss remembering. Thanks for the heads up.
M&L
@@msvdronetube For the first few years I thought that it was Point Dume as well! Not till I was down in Sunken City I realized it was the place! My parents are Irish immigrants who share your love of the USA and I grew in in Los Angeles. Love your videos and am subscribed! Will be watching! Thanks!
@@JBisHere4AGudTime It still amazes me that people from the Mighty USA have watched our rinky-dink TH-cam channel.
I’m currently editing our latest video. It brings back so many memories. We’ve been back from over a month and we all miss it so much.

Random video popped up in my feed, and couldn’t be happier. Many of the places you feature are on my daily walking or driving routines and I learned a lot.
A friend from London is coming over next summer and I’m making her a Columbo sight seeing tour.
Seemed you had a great time!
(Driving note, that left hand turn out of the gas $tation was a bit dodgy…) 😂
Thanks buddy. I really appreciate your comment.
I love that Americans have watched a video from our rinky dink channel.
If you’re doing a Columbo Tour, you have to include Peter Falks grave. It’s at Westwood Memorial Park and well worth a visit for any fan.
That’s a fair point about the left turn, we were still getting used to the roads and had already committed. 🤣
Thanks for watching.

@@msvdronetube love seeing people enjoy the city!
The grave site is on the list. Next time you are in town, you might consider doing a movie night at Hollywood Forever cemetery! We’re going to watch Midsommer in two weeks.
Cheers
Well, it’s one of our favourite cities in the world for so many reasons and movie & TV show filming locations is one of them.
Just Googled it and that’s exactly our sort of thing. Thanks for the recommendation. We’re already planning our next trip.
I really hope that the folks at Bob's Big Boy let you know the history of that particular location. There is a booth, to the right against the first partial wall, that is the booth that the Beatles sat at when they visited. It is marked by a plaque. Also, Elvis Presley filmed his "68 Comeback Special" just down the street. Since it was a secret concert (they didn't want tons of people without tickets showing up trying to get in), they didn't have enough people in the audience when it came time to film. So, Elvis' manager went over to that Bob's Big Boy and asked the people there "who wants to go to a free concert?". He didn't mention whose concert it was. He got enough volunteers from the Bob's Big Boy diners to fill in the crowd.
Wow, I didn’t know about the Elvis story but we visited Bob’s Big Boy back in 2015 and were told the story about the Beatles and even took some photos of the booth and plaque.
Thank you so much for watching and for your detailed comment, we really appreciate it.

I liked the way you film things Well done I’ve seen people try to do the same scene but not as well as you do it Well done my friend it’s just like I’m watching the Psycho movie right now . … again We’ll done 👍👍
Thank you very much for your kind comments.
It’s one of my favourite films so I’ve always wanted to go to the car dealership in real life.
Thanks again for watching.

This kind of moment is the only thing that takes there..I'll go to California sometime..my husband is from there
I love the Psycho films. I have the Arrow box set. I have a region free blu ray player specifically to order stuff from the UK. Long live physical media.😎
Indeed.
We live in quite a remote location so when our internet goes out, we always pull out the old BluRays and DVDs.
I always think the ash scene was located on Palos Verdes coast?
Thx for 5he ride.🇫🇷
Our pleasure.
Can’t wait to get back there to do more filming locations and explore.
Thanks for watching.

The first "franchise" McDonalds was built in Des Plaines Illinois. The town had a replica of the original until a few years ago when it was torn down.
That’s really sad when historical building are demolished.
Thank you for watching
M&L
The breakfast club school, now a police station was shot in des plaines too.
@slw0599 There are so many other filming location places I want to check out.
Illinois is up there for our next trip. Specifically The Blues Brothers, Home Alone and Uncle Buck filming locations.
I wish we had more time to explore.
Thank you so much for watching our little channel.

@@msvdronetube no problem, great video
Came across your video. Really enjoyed it. Born & raised in California. I love watching "location" type of videos.
Plus, your accents are great to hear. I'm a picky person when it comes to listening to "people's voices." Lol.
Thank you so much for checking out our video.
We genuinely loved being in LA and can’t wait to get our asses back to visit more filming locations.
Thanks for your comments on my voice, I grew it myself.

haha that 'face' supercut. hilarious
I was so annoyed at myself for saying hand print. Seemed like the sensible thing to do.
Marty riding his skateboard to go to school. The burger king is still there.
Yeah, it’s amazing that it’s still there. The Toys ‘r’ Us behind is long gone now though.
Thanks for watching.
I live about a mile from that Psycho car dealership and had NO idea! I walk by all the time. Incredible!
That’s my favourite part of looking for movie locations, they’re everywhere usually in plain sight.
I’m amazed that someone from America has watched a video on our channel.
Thanks so much for watching.
My uncle and his family lived in Downey and one of my cousins worked at that McDonald's many, many years ago. If you had come to Whittier, where I live, which is about 15 miles southeast of LA and not too far from Downey, you could have seen the high school that was the location used for filming in Back To The Future, the houses on the street where the trick or treat scene was filmed for Hocus Pocus and the Uptown area where scenes were filmed for Masters of the Universe and Father of the Bride. A lot of other film locations have been used in Whittier, but those are the ones I know for sure.
Thank you so much for watching. It’s amazing to me that you found our video.
We actually have visited Whittier back in 2015 when we got married and went to Whittier High School and Stricklands house which is behind the school.
I honestly didn’t know that they filmed Masters of the Universe there. I’m a little sad that we didn’t know that when we visited as me and my brothers watched that film loads as kids.
That McDonald’s was fantastic. It’s odd to admit but I’d go back there in a heartbeat.
Thanks again for watching.
M&L
I’m from Whittier as well. Went to Whittier High. Class of 93. I’m old as balls.🤪
Wow, it always amazes me that people from the Mighty USA see our video. Thank you so much for watching.
Do you still live there?
Do you remember them filming Back to the Future I & II there back in 1984 & 1989?
Oh and class of 93 doesn’t make you old. Experienced maybe 🤔!
Thanks again for watching.
M&L
@@msvdronetube I certainly do remember them filming. Specially Back To The Future II. It was the scene where Marty was in Biff’s future and Mr. Strickland runs him off his porch with a shotgun. My brother and mother were driving up Pickering at the intersection of Bailey. At the end of Bailey is the Whittier High School auditorium and you see it as the camera pans up, as Marty is running away. The Strickland house is also at the end of the street, on the right hand side. We saw all the lights up. I didn’t realize what movie they were filming until I saw it a year later and it clicked in my brain that we had driven by. Most recently Spielberg’s film The Fabelmans had a scene shot in Uptown Whittier. I also lived in South Pasadena back in the day, where the famous Michael Myers house is located. Teen Wolf also had some scenes filmed there. I’ll watch more of your channel.🕺😎
@jonathanaldecoa1099
That must’ve been amazing. Whenever you watch it, you’ll always know you were there.
Visiting the filming locations of my favourite 80’s & 90’s movies is by far my favourite thing to do while in LA. It’s truly magical to me for that reason.
I believe the Teen Wolf house is next door to Lorraine’s house in BTTF Part I.
Nearby is also the house from the horror/comedy movie House which I loved growing up so going there was incredible.
We’re in the process of looking at all the potential movie filming locations near where we live so stay tuned.
M&L
Could you please TAG your vids. Cheers mate
Hi guys,
I’m in Liverpool,uk.I go all over states. If you go back to Malibu in future,on pacific highway look for paradise cove,it’s private road to a beach restaurant,as long as you have a drink in bar you can park free, the beach is where all stars live, the car park is where James garner lives in Rockford files.when you was on beach that’s spot where Mel Gibson has caravan trailer in Leathal weapon, you ever after any movie stuff near to where you are let me no.good video the nakotami plaza from die hard was also the offices of solicitor for oj Simpson ,khardashian and the pool next to it is where Joe Pesci was thrown out hotel window .you should have a walk around grey stone manor in Beverly Hills, it’s free and tons of movies/tv done there ,xmen academy,Wayne manor, national treasure, etc. enjoy
That’s amazing.
Thanks for the heads up. Can’t wait to go back.
We love doing filming locations. We’ve done Port Hueneme for the Back to the Future train crash which was excellent. Plus all the houses in Pasadena as well as Poltergeist and ET etc. basically anything from the 80’s.
And yes, I actually recognised Fox Plaza when I last watched Lethal Weapon.
My brother and I got kicked out of Fox Plaza back in 2011. The security there is really tight.
As I said in the video, you are pretty much always in a filming location for something in LA. We love it there.
Thanks for watching.

I’m hoping to go again in next year or two, was going to get an rv and travel across route 66 but doing movies , fancy finding tombstone, young guns and some Clint locations .the place where he made pale rider and Un forgiven was same train station and desert as back to future 3.ill have to see what you and your brother are up to when I’m going , I’ve been dragging my older brother along,we went st Abbs ( new Asgard ) last year ,lol.
@@huntinghistory You need to get to Monument Valley and stay in The View Hotel. It’s amazing, check out our 2017 video from there. Basically every western and BTTFIII was filmed there.
That’s so weird, we did St Abbs last Summer. Plus we did the Shaun of the Dead locations which was awesome
th-cam.com/video/xvJOgNhEZ2M/w-d-xo.html
There’s surprisingly lots of UK movie filming locations to visit here but you can’t beat USA.
I’ve been watching your stuff, you seem to have same take on places monument valley is amazing.Ive been going states since 96.I once drove San Francisco to San Diego, I did 17 mile drive next to pebble beach (have good car show), went to Alcatraz,I stopped of in Carmel and had dinner in the hogs breath(Clint Eastwood bar). Then did Santa Clara (lost boys) , did few days in LA,then down coast,to San Diego ,foun the house from top gun but I believe they moved it now. Last time I did vegas I was at mirage, you been over to Rachel,I’d like to do that but like Paul the alien location haha.keep doing vids .If ever up in Liverpool I can show you loads movie places, the new Batman was done here and Scotland, when he dives off clock tower that’s the liver building, captain America(chasing bloke getting in sub-Liverpool docks)Sherlock homes etc.
Well, we really appreciate you watching. We’re only a very small channel but some videos (mainly filming locations) do better than others.
Oh yeah, we’re definitely into the same stuff.
I’ve not done San Diego yet. San Francisco was great though, especially the Dirty Harry, Mrs Doubtfire, Vertigo and Towering Inferno locations.
Yes, Area51 was amazing. Rachel and Little AleInn was very cool. They actually have a signed Paul poster by Simon Pegg and Nick Frost etc. Going to the gate was risky but we enjoyed it.
We love Liverpool. I’m embarrassed to say I didn’t know you had so many films made there. We just visited for the Beatles Tour, Titanic Experience and Brookside.
Thanks for subscribing but I’m afraid we only have another few videos from our USA trip left. I have a Chitty Chitty Bang Bang and Vicar of Dibley video coming soon though.
It was a ford ranger that he is behind on skateboard

The Planet of the Apes Statue of Liberty scene isn't at the exact same spot as the Austin Powers scene, to get to the Planet of the Apes spot you have to go through a path between the rocks to a smaller similar looking stretch of beach. Notice the cliffsides are different as are the rocks in the water, in the Apes scene there's a small low cluster of rocks on the shore and a single rock about 25 feet out, in the Austin Powers scene the shore cluster has two huge boulders and there's a string of about 6 rocks going out about 30 feet. The spreading of Donny's ashes is on top of the rocks between the two stretches of beach, you can see both locations from up there.
Damn it, I honestly thought they were there.
That’s all the excuse I need to go back to LA.
Thanks for watching.

Many films were filmed in that town in California.
Yeah, we’ve barely scratched the surface.
I can’t wait to go back and see even more locations from my favourite films.

Why does almost NOBODY share the addresses???????
Is it TOO HARD????
I can only speak for myself that I didn’t want to because by giving the address, that almost gives permission to visit and some of these places are in private communities or may have restrictions on visitors.
To be fair though, the addresses are all available online which is where we got the locations from.
Thanks for watching.
M&L
Due to privacy reasons of people in residential areas many TH-camrs don't share the addresses of places they visit because that keeps people from showing up at the locations and breaking in and stealing stuff from the properties to make money from the stolen stuff , many houses in movies are occupied and are private in neighborhoods that are a bit wealthy.
Exactly.
Another very good reason why we don’t share the addresses.
Thanks for watching

You need to take Dramamine to watch your videos. Please don’t swing camera from side to side so quickly. And the split screen is nauseating.
Thank you for your feedback. I completely agree with you.
I’ll pass your observations onto the camera crew and editing staff. I’m seriously considering replacing them anyway.
I've lived in S Cal for >50 years so I can speak from a position of long experience... S Cal may have some filming locations but the joy or excitement of seeing them is FAR outweighed by the deprevity, homlessness, ridiculously expensive food and lodging, crime, etc. Venice beach? Don't go there at night. Hollywood and Vine? very dirty, very high traffic, lots of homeless/druggies definitely don't go there at night it is even worse.
Disneyland - expect a family of 4 to pay >$1100 for entry, parking, and base level food for the day that does not include very expensive lodging in questionable areas nearby. The rides have gone downhill fast line have grown exponentially nothing like it was years ago. Not a fun choice there are far better ways to blow that kind of money
Want to bop around Burbank? very high traffic, people are not nice at all
Bottom line - stay away from the San Fernando Valley, downtown LA or anywhere near that, Venice Anaheim (Disneyland), Orange County for the most part. Parts of N Cal are still decent but most all of S. Cal is a disaster at best.
Buzzkill, man. I’m still goin’. I’m gonna be a star. Saw it on tv.
That’s the perfect reply.
Thanks for watching.
