German here: And then you vote for Reps and after 4-8 years, you´re going to write the same nonsense about the other party. How about some OTHER parties in general in US politics, not only Reps or Dems. Just like in Europe or the rest of the democratic world? Might work wonders to cure your problems. Europe is a place where people know how to live and enjoy life, and there´s a good reason why Americans are drowning in work with very little free time, develop tons of mental health issues and are even proud uttering sentences like "you know how much I´ve been working throughout this year, I´m totally wasted". The "hard working American" has turned into some corporate slavery zombie thing within the entire nation. This can´t be good.
I have a friend that moved out to LA and he regrets it sometimes. The cost of living is outrageous. When my sister moved out there in the 80s, she loved it! Today, LA is a shell of its former self.
As an ex-nyer I have lived in la since 1956. NY has its air of tension, we here in LA are more subdued, and i cherish that. Yes, I still do love LA. What can we do now to make it better? Start SMALL. Yes, pick up your, and others trash and be respectful of all others...even when they don't serve it. BUT, most of all is to vote for candidates and propositions that make LA better. How the hell could we accept the likes of Gascon and now "prettyboyjerk" Newsome. Me? No way, until my dimise" am ever moving out of LA.❤
I left LA 20 years ago. When I join the Army , I grew up in Eagle Rock. I went back once and it changed not for the good. That’s why when I got out of the army I never went back
crazy man I come from northern Cali, up by Sac and I'm a tell you LA is trash . Was born in Anaheim, raised in NCali, moved here 2yrs ago and hate it here lol, working on moving back out north
I agree, LA, Hollywood and Beverly Hills are all dead. Definitely not the cool place it used to be and that is sad. The whole L.A. vibe is just weird now.I left So Cal 3 years ago after living there for 45 years.
Where'd you move to? I'm wanting out too. Born & raised here. 58 years now, and far too many. Like watching ones motherland die a slow death by opportunists. 😢
@@A7LTEGugle I also want out of so. Cal. Was born in Oxnard and 75 years of it is too much. But where to go?? I'm not a city person and to old for road trip. I moved to Georgia in 82 that lasted 2 years until the humidity and bugs drove me nuts ugh!! Then I lived on Cape Cod for 5 years and Alaska for 3 months and ended up back where I started. I visited Mexico in the 60's but that was no place to stay!!! Hugs ❤️
I moved away from California in 2013 due to the slow incline of the cost of living. My family used to frequent Los Angeles and Hollywood on the weekends, and I remember how busy it used to be. It is surreal to see areas I use to visit all but empty and dying out.
My wife and I were both born and raised in Los Angeles. We both loved growing up there in the 1980’s and 1990’s, it turned into a complete šħïťħõlè around 10 years ago so we moved to Houston Texas. We are living like royalty in Houston and could not be happier, and you have the freedom of speech in Texas unlike California.
Those was the best days of my life wish I could go back to that time I think about that everyday the place I was so so happy at you just be in that house when them streetlights come on and not a second later
Born and raised in la and its not the same at all brother everything changed after pandemic, it was already kinda dyin down 2019, 2018 was the last year it felt like something. I still stay in la now, I have no friends, no life outside work, and I hardly go out side. You see people doing cool things on the internet, but like you said it’s a façade. When you actual go outside, it’s a ghost town. I actually fell asleep at the club the other day it was so boring and expensive felt like I wasted my money lol
This is PRECISELY why I made this video! & EXACTLY what I meant by L.A is dead. Yes, you see people on the street. But most of them step outside quickly to get some air and go straight back inside. The sense of community is gone unless one of our teams wins a championship. You don’t speak to your neighbors, you don’t even know your neighbors names. Everyone is in and out of this city so fast that everyone is a complete stranger and the only time you speak to another human is to put in your food or drink order. There aren’t conversations, or plans. There is no where to congregate. You write to your phone, talk to your phone, and don’t ever look up at anyone to say hi. Forget about making eye contact with anyone, everyone is in their own world and already scared because they stepped a block off their porch. Yes there are pockets of the city that can be very active, but they are few and far between. There shouldn’t be 1 good restaurant and 1 good bar in a couple mile radius because everything else is a dead spot or has shut down. At the end of the day, this city has CHANGED. Thank you for this comment brother.
& as far as going out, I rarely go out in this city anymore. For the price of one weekend out, I can buy a plane ticket. Travel as much as you can brother, there’s so many beautiful places to see and beautiful people to experience. Any time I need to recharge and I need to be in a new environment, I book a flight ✈️
😮 SAD!!! Bcuz I know it used to be a fun place to be, a great city. Intentionally destroyed by bad policies. Way to go, democrats!! U can't blame it all on Diddy now!!!
@@Moneyhardawaythat's that 1984 Life, the book I mean. Dystopia created by phones. It's shameful. People that have lived in a place a long time contribute to the history and environment in special ways. When that is gone, it feels more empty!! It's really sad what has happened. Yes you really can destroy a city with lies and bad policies.
@@Silllywalks what exactly. I live next to Highland Park and crime is down 95% from when I moved here 20 years ago, under Dems the whole time in LA. LA saw saw some improvement in the final years of Shwsrtznegger let’s remember, the bad old 90s gang era had a Republican as governor with Republican policies
Almost every major city in the world is experiencing this. It seems like you're unsure whether to move or not. If your heart is still with L.A., I would stick with it if you can afford it. Major cities go through cycles and eventually rebound. Even up here in Washington State, we're dealing with closing businesses, high crime, homelessness, and drugs (Kinda like 1940s and 1990s L.A.). I know some ppl who have or are planning on moving to California due to the mess we're dealing with in Washington and Oregon.
Portland and Seattle went downhill quickly. It’s all up to Dem voters. Cali moved 10 points toward red this time. I moved to Cali 40 years ago and there were Republicans Governors and office holders. I live 50 miles inland of LA. It’s normal in most of the state outside of the big cities.
To currently live in Los Angeles, as I do, is to live in an urban dystopia. Haunting & profoundly sad to witness the extreme brokenness & loss of hope for the average working class person.
@diamondbeats2024 in 2012, I worked 2 fulltime jobs in Easton, PA, while homeless...and I am a former Angelino. I had $600 in my pocket, any given day...yet no chance at a legit apartment. Thankfully, my Crusty background prepared me for this...I am over 50.
Don't blame the governor for the deterioration of Los Angeles. The implosion of Los Angeles started way before Newsom. Start with the building of the freeways which killed the wonderful trolley system LA used to have. Freeways creating mass congestion and pollution, killing off the many wonderful parks that used to be in LA. All of this online madness has killed all the wonderful cinemas that used to line downtown Los Angeles and Hollywood as well as all of the interesting and wonderful shops. Corporate mentality killed off the real Chinatown in LA and replaced it with a fake Chinatown. The once beautiful San Fernando Valley with its fresh orange and lemon groves and pure air has been replaced by bumper to bumper car traffic on almost all of the avenues and boulevards. Greedy landlords have tripled rents as foreign and corporate entities have usurped all the affordable housing. I would say the people themselves killed LA as they seem to have a mass apathetic attitude toward preservation. They tear down anything that has a history. The only thing that really matters now to people in LA is their almighty SUV and of course their smartphone.
@@Jack-ke5uv also Hollywood attracts all the narcissist and phycopaths that has made the city trash. I remember talking to a young man on line who thought that he was so special that he was going to quit his emt job to become an actor, the stupidity and narcissism was astounding. I'm certain that he came and struggled and probably ran back home to Tennessee.
Very hard due to election fraud. Dems print fake ballots first and just truck in numbers just above what's needed to win as votes are counted. That's why they have early voting and late counting. CA accepts ballots by mail up to 7 days after the election closes nationwide.
LA has gone down the drain, yet the cost of living is still sky high. Same with SF. Considering the quality of living, in both cities, things should be much more affordable. Sad to see the once great state of California failing us so miserably.
@@Moneyhardaway right exactly, that’s because it’s not true. LA’s doing just fine and dramatically improving in the last 6 months. Demand is very high to live here keeping the prices high as a kite. A lot of the negatives people always refer to, has been part of the LA experience for 100 years and not some new liberal dystopia.
lol..but yet people still come to visit LA..I work in that area and it ain’t what this guy making it to look like..California will always take out Florida Texas any Republican state..we make more money
It's why I had to move out of California. I was born and raised, but it has become a third world country out there. At 57 years old I never would have thought I would witness such a decay of America in so fast a time. Our thieving government is to blame!!!!
I enjoyed this informative video. I've known people leave the Midwest to live the California Dream around that 2015 mark, they exited very arrogantly like they were going to be the next movie star. I knew they were lying as people from around the world watched the well established celebrities from the 70s - 90s....go bust! Then there were movies that told us that hard times were coming. The Mule was a wake up call. It's as if an experiment was done to see how fast they could bring us to our knees by forcing everything to close....The Plandemic. We are either heading towards a Greater Depression or if you speak to people in their 70 - 80 range, they believe we are living in the end times. Very scary and humbling to see things vanish overnight, people living in the streets, it's almost as if we are reverting back to the wild west.( The Quick and the Dead). 🙏 For unity and the hope to rebuild.
Hey! Read my comment posted now. I too was born & raised here. I'm 58, we probably know each other! 😉 Trying to figure out where to move to. Too sad what's become of L.A. in my opinion. Tourists still swarm here for the slim pickens. ✌
Do your politicians in the USA loot government funds? Didn’t know they did that , nothing gets really done in my country which is considered 3rd world because the government loots all the funds and do nothing
Its way too late for LA. Soon itll be a dead city. The moment they put Karen Bass in I knew it was over, but good job getting rid of Gascon. Go blue go broke.
So Bass is the reason for my hometowns decay not the takeover or the city council calling Black persons monkeys only concerned about their people, pathetic .People are going to wakecup to the reason for Americans decline
Wow, the Standard! I thought that would be a trendy classic forever! I lived in Burbank to do my time in the studios from 1996 to late 2007, and really enjoyed my time in a vibrant, fun place! Luckily, in that time, I had a chance to study the history of old communities and historic Los Angeles neighborhoods, raves at the Alexandria, tons of Dodgers games, Little Tokyo, The Grove, shopping on Melrose, did the drives out to Vegas and up to SF from time to time (SF was also very healthy and alive back then, still!), all the fun LA stuff it's fun to do at least once! The cost of living was expensive, yeah, but reasonable enough for a place that had soooo much to offer, and it was all within reach! Just before I moved away was when things started getting bad with rent prices, and I made the gamble to leave. As an independent contractor, when the cost of living gets too high to be able to keep a reasonable savings intact, it's probably a good time to move on, and I made the right decision, but there are times I really miss it there, and consider it home. I raised my son there during his formative years, and I think he thinks of it as home more than anywhere else, too. I feel very lucky to have been able to experience all Los Angeles had to offer, while living there comfortably during that time. I'm really sorry to see the mess it seems to have deteriorated into and hope the economy will change soon.
"...now it is pure hell on earth..." I take it you've never been to Somalia. Or almost anywhere in Africa, Central, or South America. Or Alabama. Or Mississippi.
How very depressing. I moved here in 1976 and it was awesome! I am thinking of moving. So happy I got to live here when it was great. Great great memories, had some awesome nights in Hollywood. Being young in this town was amazing.
tell people you know its the downfall of the USA cause lots of people dont want to believe this is happening.. They deny deny deny... its crazy... All great civs fall... ALL of them...
I moved To LA in 1980 and LA have me the time of my life and I’m sad young people today will never know the Los Angeles of the 80’s it was the best city in the country. Oh, I was born in Brooklyn and left NY at 19 for Los Angeles.
As a young, aspiring musician, I moved to Hollywood from PA in '78. Best move of my life. I was living in a apt with a balcony over looking Sunset Strip with a huge pool. I was in heaven. I found myself in several bands since then, playing just about every club there was to play. Whisky, Troubadour, Roxy, you name it. Moved to the Valley in '96. I'm still playing, but DTLA/Hollywood/West Hollywood is nothing like it used to be. It's been in a downward spiral for years now. Most all the cool clubs are gone, lots businesses shut down, higher crime, insane cost of living, with homelessness everywhere. What ashame. The only good thing left is the weather imo... I'm looking to get out of here. Many of my best friends have already left or are in the process of leaving ... But damn, what a awesome place this used to be...
Weather and food are the only positives left, but even the restaurant industry is dying. My friend closed 2 restaurants down, another friend changed 12 jobs during last year, because restaurants cannot afford her anymore, she is GM with a lot of experience. The industry never recovered after draconian closures of COVID era, when Newsom went into complete dictatorship mode. There is some life still left in WeHo, on a few blocks in Santa Monica, tourists keep a few streets in BH alive, but everyone closes down early, there is no bustling vibe any longer. Newsom destroyed CA
Born and raised here myself. My dad bought our current house in 1998 for about $180K on a truck driver’s salary. I couldn’t afford our house today as an attorney. Cost of living for the middle class is insane.
I work in the music industry as an engineer- also very much worth mentioning- The Record Plant. One of LA’s legendary studios has closed. Another one, Sunset Sound, is close. Sunset sound has been surrounded by tents for a couple years now. Taylor Swift was actually almost physically accosted by a homeless tweaker. They juice the power off sunset sound. They even broke in and took a shit on the drum set. The local businesses took it upon themselves to put up planters, and Karen Bass immediately had them removed. It’s a fucking joke
Nicely done video, Mr. Hardaway! 😃 CA native here. I'm a '1957 model' --- so I have witnessed the changes first-hand. And YES, towards the end of your video you are CORRECT to point out that this is the GOOD part of LA! Rodeo is boarded-up?! [All thanks to Gov Gavin Newsom, Nancy Pelosi, and Adam Schiff.]
The downturns started with Governors Jerry Brown and Schwarzenegger. Plus everyone has moved online, and Amazon took over retail. Trump could have done a better job on Covid too. 1.2million dead, businesses closed down.
I grew up close to Beverly Hills. My first job was during high school at Neiman Marcus, a few blocks west of the closed Nike store you pointed out. That was in 1980. Brotha, i've got stories, cuz no city was touching L.A. in the 80s. Sad to see this current version
I was a kid but I got to live and witness how alive L.A was back then. To this day watching all the media from that time gives me goosebumps. It was an amazing time to be alive. Couldn’t imagine how much better it would have been if I was old enough to indulge in the adult scene!
I was 8 in 1982 when I went to Neiman Marcus with my mom and my aunt for a fun shopping day. We got dressed up, and had lunch in the restaurant there, and I had consommé for the first time. The wait staff was so friendly to me. Beverly Hills and Los Angeles at that time was really something special. I’m still here, thankful I was able to experience what it used to be. It is so bleak now.
Feel the same way about San Francisco. This is what happens when narcissitic demon possessed people run things. This is all rooted in a spiritual battle. Get right with God asap. And lead your children to the Lord before the world ruins their hearts.
Oh yes, the good old refuge for any broken mind in lower, uneducated classes: Religion. The "end is near" mantra, people have been uttering for 10.000 years and still, nothing ever happened. Stop quoting this childish nonsense, it´s unbearable.
I live here in L.A. and it really does feel like it's becoming a ghost town everywhere you go. Even Hollywood isn't putting out the movies like they used to. Awesome video content though, keep up the excellent work! 🔥
Went to LA last year for the rock bars on the Sunset Strip and I wasn't disappointed I loved it. Viper Room was crazy, I had to wait for a homeless man to stop pissing on the entrance before I could take a picture. Great video man 👌👌
HI,I was born and raised in.A. 68 Years ago. We used to cruise Sunset Bl. all the way to the beach, picking up hitchhikers in the early 70's. When i first moved out of my parents house, my rent was $75 a month! I could drive from Highland Park to downtown in 15 min.! I don't want to move out of state, but might have to.
I used to dream of living in Los Angeles, West Hollywood where the rock clubs are in the 80s and 90s, now , seeing how L.A. is dying, over expensive and messed up it is, I'm content with my small town in southern Indiana, which is growing with the Toyota vehicle manufacturing plant here, always hiring.

I hear & feel ya, bro. My wife & I are kinda in the same boat. I’ve lived here for 30+ YEARS. My wife nearly 50 YEARS. We both grew up here, Both lived in Santa Monica where we both attended the same Jr. High & High School. NOT the same town, as you said in this video about other parts of LA. Very sad to see this happen. I miss the LA back in 1998, even. We, too, are just over LA & ready to move on to somewhere else. However, we too, have things tie-ing us up here. Thanks for giving an update on the status of places like that hotel, The Standard, right? I seen it when I passed by, but it’s been a while. I didn’t realize it CLOSED. WOW! VERY HIGH END! Thanks again, good job. Keep up the videos.
You can barely go out to dinner in LA withwithout getting robbed for your phones, wallet, and jewelry. That type of stuff has an effect on businesses in the area.
I guess I should also mention this is only happening bc democrats marched through the city screaming defund the police after George Floyd died. So this is the result of defunding police. No consequences, no bail, and police show up 30 minutes after the call.
Dont take ya phone, or wear jewellry then. You can go without those things for a couple of hours. Only take $50 cash with you, hidden in your sock, and $5 in your pocket. Dont dress expensively. Problem solved. Enjoy your meal.
Oh dear this is very sad. 😔 I enjoyed holidaying in LA, basically CA. My first time there was in 2007. Stayed at the Standard Hollywood in 2008, cool hotel and the last time I was in LA was perhaps in 2014, it was still bustling. Planned to go again in May this year but called it off due to the situation of homelessness and drugs etc. I don’t wish to disappoint myself especially when it’s a long journey traveling from Singapore. I hope the government will do something about this. And tourists like me will feel confident to visit again. Please don’t diminish this iconic city. God bless and thank you for this video. 😊
Good stuff bro! I lived in L.A. from 2002 to 2020 and I agree 100%. It really changed a lot and honestly, if it wasn't for COVID taking my job in 2020, it would have been hard to leave. L.A. has a vibe that most places don't. I worked in Entertainment for almost 20 years and when I lost my job, that was when me and my family pulled the trigger and left CA altogether. Funny enough, I'm making my 1st trip back in 4 years to collab with 2 other creators. Keep up the great videos.
SoCal local here - I live in the SGV. I used to go to the city a lot pre-Covid but have rarely gone since, especially west of DTLA. Nowadays it’s too much time and effort to go out. The problem is a lack of third places that don’t require one to spend $$$ - we are broke! Also gas ain’t cheap! Anecdotally, I stay closer to home when I go out; my area has seen a lot of new businesses and activity so there is no need to go out to LA to have fun - in fact a food hall just opened here in West Covina, for example. We have lots of good restaurants and local events even here in my area! The reason why LA is dying is due to post-pandemic habits and the fact that everything is so damn expensive!
But LA isn't dying, LA now has multiple hotspots instead of one epicenter of Hollywood/DTLA etc. Like you say--SGV has tons of awesome stuff. Pasadena--which used to be a joke when I first moved to LA in the '90s--is now totally popping. The action has moved elsewhere....the Hollywood area is kind of dead. I hardly venture west of Fairfax these days.
Heartbreaking! I left CA at the end of 2019, I went back in late January and again September of 2020. I noticed right away after leaving LAX things were a bit off. Wilshire Blvd. and Sunset Blvd. had more homeless, dirty and trashy on the sidewalks, but still busy with people and the CA traffic. I lived in CA for decades, never in my wildest dreams could I ever imagine it would become what it is today. I am grateful to have lived there and see the beauty of what CA once was.
Yes it has just gotten worse since 2020. I’m sad to report there is still plenty of that famous L.A traffic but almost everything else has definitely changed
Thanks for the boots on the ground, realtime coverage of the truth. My daughter and her busband left LA two years ago and moved to a nearby state. Their quality of life vastly improved.
That’s crazy. I used to have a home in the Hollywood hills and left 20 years ago. I remember all those places on Sunset and spent many evenings at the Standard and would have lunch by the poolside on occasion. I now live in Tokyo and wouldn’t go back. With Trump in office I pray that the economy begins to turn around. Born and raised in LA and Carneys was my favorite place to go to when I was a kid in the 70s. Thanks for the video and give it some time to see if the economy starts to change… otherwise, start thinking of plan B.
With Trump's proposed tariffs, some as high as 60%. Not sure how that will help the economy. My portfolio has never looked better. How quickly we forget during Trump's last term where there were numerous days in a row where the DOW lost 1,000 points each. We get it, the DOW is one aspect as is S&P, and other markets. Most of us also have investments in hedge funds and private equity. The average Trump voter is going to be in for one big surprise should Trump follow up on his promises. Remember, tariffs work both ways. Remember the soybean farmers that had to be bailed out by Trump? Short memories.
The Golden Age is about to pop off with Trump. He will gut out the corrupt and with that and his Policies A lot of opportunities are getting ready to come.
Thanks for the video. I used to work that area as a parking enforcement officer for W. Hollywood back when Lindsay Lohan was popular. That area was soooo busy back in the day. I kinda miss the hustle
That must’ve been during the Entourage era! Hollywood was the place to be back then and that show brought so many people here to chase their dreams. 80’s- early ‘00’s are undefeated!
Breaks my heart to see the strip and Hollywood has declined so much. Born and raised in LA, grew up running streets of Hollywood, hanging everywhere there. worked in Hollywood in many different places through the eighties until I got a job in the nineties as a mailman in Beverly Hills. Drove the strip almost everyday , ate at Carney's regularly. Knew every place from Downtown LA to Santa Monica like the back of my hand, inside and out. Finally left 15 years ago, never looked back. So sad.
I feel your pain, my guy! Been here since 1973. I was fortunate to have lived here from the 70's thru the 90's. I noticed in the last 10 years, our homeless CRI$IS has only gotten worse. Since COOFID, nothing has been the same here. Just waiting for my daughter to wrap up her last two years of high $CHOOL and we're getting the fuck out of here! It's unbelievable how much new$CUM & Co. have driven this state into the ground...
I remember when LA & CA would throw the bums out in either party if they abused their power or did a poor job. Today, it's a one party state that re-elects the same characters no matter how much they f*ck up. Jesus Christ or Ghandi couldn't get elected here if they don't have a (D) after their name. Sad.

I've lived in LA all my life, I'm 34 now, and i haven't visited these areas in years. This video def enlightened me to see how much has changed, and its definitely very sad. My 20's in Hollywood we're epic and it's sad people may never experience that again.
I’m from Chicago but used to go out to Los Angeles to party all the time in the MTV “The Hills” era, from 2006-2011. It’s just amazing how much commies destroyed this city. Everything used to be so lit and alive. Now it’s just a dystopian nightmare. It’s a beautiful city but its soul has been ripped out.
I don't understand why Americans describe Democrats as commie. From what I understand commie means Communism and communism is a state where there are no capitalism at all. All business and production of goods and services goes to the state. The state then distribute an income to each household of the country. Is that what's happening in Los Angeles and California?
@@bldomain That is Agenda 2030. With BRICS it will happen otherwise totalitarianism will proceed. It’s a sign of the times , it’s not just in LA, it’s happening all over the US and the world, nothing lasts forever, it’s really a sign that GOD is telling u to get your life together because he is on his way , just my opinion
I am equally convinced that it is the Tooth Fairy who is locked in mortal combat with Santa Klaus, while the ghost of Elvis looks on impassively from the corner of Sunset and Vine.
It’s been a dull, ugly dump for decades. People move here for work, save money, and get out while they’re still upright. Full of homeless and increasingly dangerous in all areas.
I finally had to move away last June, after three decades. At least DA George Gascon was voted out last week- he's one of the main players responsible for the city's great demise (along with Gavin Newsom...the main architect).
I left LA in 2012 - got married and moved to another country. I only go back once in awhile because my family and close friends are there. A bit sad to see how much has changed, but tbh I’m sick of high taxes, Hollyweird, libs, fake people…
Sad video. I was born in Los Angeles many years ago and it really bothered me when I took my wife to Hollywood for our anniversary. Hollywood boulevard was dirty and smelled like urine. Then while eating lunch, a group of young bikers basically stopped traffic by showing off their so called skills by burning out and doing wheelies. Buncha amateurs stopped traffic and it was basically a bunch of noise and smell of rubber and exhaust. No reason to return until they clean up what was once a beautiful and historical area. 😢 Our Highlight? Musso & Frank Grill 😇 I'd definitely recommend it. Viva San Diego but we still need a new governor in California. Just my take. God Bless Brother
Hollywood was the place I would take all my dates to impress them when I was a kid. Now, I won't even take my daughters. There's nothing there but tourist shops and tourist traps. Walk a quarter mile off of Hollywood & Highland and Hollywood & Vine and you're stuck wondering where else to go. Musso & Frank is still on my bucket list! Thank you brother. God bless

I've been saying LA is dead for a few years now. Hollywood and the strip are done. You're on point with BH as well - tons of vacancies. Small pockets of LA are still fine but there has been a real mass exodus of entrepreneurs from the state. It's also not an employer friendly state and the tax rate is one of the highest in the country. I had a few friends have their stores completely smashed during the pandemic, and they were just cool hard working family owned businesses. LA needs to save itself. It starts with each person taking responsibility for their community and pulling together. Let's see how this all pans out.
The Internet shopping ruined a lot of things, especially during the pandemic, and lets not talk about the taxes😢,, I hope you do more videos like this, We love to see LA ,,,A New Yorker.
It’s fine here in the suburbs north of Detroit Michigan. Same as it’s always been. Nightlife isn’t the same as it was 10-20 years ago but I also don’t go out anymore so could be good still for all I know 😂.
👍Thank You for your comment. For people moving out of LA twice as many must be moving to LA and surrounding areas. Traffic seems to be thriving and heavier more than ever. I'm like.. I thought everyone left. 🤷♀️ Lol There is still much to do in LA and the weather and the outdoor activities still can't be beat. No rain all summer long and beyond for a good 6 or 7 months time period. Helps in boosting the spirit and with fitness and health. The same video's are being made about other inner cities. So I guess it's the new trend! The surrounding areas of LA are booming in new construction and businesses so not to stereotype and gloom the whole Southern California. Stores can leave but there's nothing like the Southern California vibe and sunshine! ❤Southern Cal❤ LA is still paradise from what the Bay Area has become!😥
Moved to LA in 2004 and I moved back home to Birmingham from LA in 2020. I sometimes fight the feelings I have to move back and I must say your video helped me see that that would be a very bad decision. Yeah, if you haven’t lived there or were born and raised there, you don’t get how significant it is to see businesses boarded up on Sunset! Of all the places, Sunset. That’s mad crazy
I lived here from 2001 to 2010, I moved back to Philly 2010 until 2015 and then moved back to LA and am still here now. I would say that I just barely made the cut off. If I were you, I would definitely not waste time thinking about coming back here, everything you know is gone and ruined, it sucks now.
Hi Money thank you for this video. This exact topic here is very near and deep in my heart and soul. I just turned 50 in mid September 2024, born in and have lived in Los Angeles and the San Fernando Valley all 50 years of my life. We are in VERY big trouble and in so many different ways. It would take days to articulate. I ask God to please help me permanently relocate.
Hello old friend! It is with me as well. It pains me to see what our city is going through but it pains me more to watch those in power do nothing about it. It’s almost as if they don’t even want to address it. Here’s to hoping something will be done soon and I wish you the best with your relocation!
To answer your question at the 13:00 mark Nostalgia from growing up. The chance to see big name celebrities the weather the sun sets by the beach. But yeah awesome job with n giving us the run down on what LA is really like!
This statement is very accurate now that I think about it. Outside of one outing with friends that I had at a restaurant a few months ago, I haven't gone out to eat since Covid. I used to do it all the time before the pandemic.
I commented halfway through because I was enjoying it so much! But I want to write again -- you have a GREAT future as a TH-camr! You're SO great at it! So authentic, smart and cool. I'm so sorry for you guys in L.A. Haven't been there since 2009 and it was hopping back then! God bless! Keep up the **GREAT** work! I wish everyone who watched it subscribed! I sure did!! Good luck!
Hello, from Florida. Thank you for your video but it is sad. I was born & partially raised in L.A. My mother & I had to move due to her divorce I was 12 Truth, I was homesick for L.A. for well over a decade it was like a death I could not get over. No joke. There is something special about it. There is another person here on the community comment that said that he was born & raised in San Fernando vallley he's 50. He is wanting to move elsewhere. Let me say that I hope he finds that somewhere however it's the homesickness of L.A. that this person might have a hard time with. Truth. Also some cities don't like ppl from Cali. Which is sad. I'm not kidding Money I developed diagnosed depression when I left. Very hard. Harder still is seeing all of those areas you showed on the video that are gone. It's like L.A is a shell of its former self. Wow I miss it. Florida ain't the same either.
Blocks and blocks of vacancies all over the place. Sunset x Vine too... total ghost town, it used to be crazy busy there! All the business are gone!. I am from East Hollywood but moved to Vancouver in 2020 when things were getting weird - defund the police, you can shoplift up to $950, encampments, RV cities, etc etc . Every time I return to Los Angeles I notice even more businesses totally gone. It's shocking.
West of Chicago, I see commercial space often being empty for sometimes literally years. I don't know how they can own property and keep it empty for so long. If I was a landlord and I went empty for just 2 months I would be counting the money I lost. Maybe I just don't understand how it works.???
LA is just old. Like 90 percent of it looks run down. Its like a 100 year old body with cuts, scars, band aids. It needs to be built from the ground up again. Too many patches
Old Old Old is right. The laughable part is people are paying way over a million dollars for house there that is older and more beat up than it was 5 yrs ago. 10 years ago etc..
There's so much infrastructure there and it's all old and dirty and filled with trash. It's probably impossible to replace or fix all of it. Every little patch of concrete or asphalt or utility line is just some future repair bill. It's wild. It's like a future rust belt scenario but all playing out while the tech boom is ostensibly still happening m
Excellent video. It pains me to see what these historical places have become. Wasn't born in LA, however lived there for 30 years, and these very grounds you showed used to be my favorite hangouts. So sad really. Please keep showing all that you can. Surely people are interested.
*Re: Hollywood's Postmortem* Hollywood will *never* really recover after that writers strike. The cost of filming in CA is not competitive anymore. Newsom is way too late to the game. The entertainment industry has taken a major blow and has yet to recover. Regards -
If Hollywood released a flop, they can recover those costs by releasing a blockbuster. If Hollywood loses the public’s trust, however, it will take a generation to recover from that loss. There were millions of American families who would go to the movies every week, come hell or high water, for family movie night, confident that there would be something there they could watch. Hollywood has lost those people.
Dumb. CIA and DEA control the drug trade not mention that weapon manufacturers and banks that launder money plus the US uses the cartels de distabilize Mexico. American ppl really have no clue
I grew up in LA and my family lived in We Ho and then moved to the valley. I lived in BH a few years. I guess if people dont feel safe walking around then there is no foot traffic.
While Hollywood and Beverly Hills is dying, my area is booming. I’m in Baldwin Hills and the surrounding areas have pretty much what we need and not have to travel outside of the neighborhoods. Since the pandemic, it has been very busy and lots of foot traffic to local stores. I’m in a rent controlled unit 1/1 ($1160) in a great family neighborhood. I’m never leaving lol take care.
@GnarlsBarkley123 My last apartment was in Baldwin Hills. My rent was $900 for eight years, a HUGE one bedroom, private parking space, and lots of storage. The person living there now pays $2,000 a month. My favorite watering hole was Post & Beam. I loved living in Baldwin Hills. Always felt safe there. I don't miss California anymore... Stay safe there!!!
ya just exposed it dumb dumb, haha. JK, I am sure cali has it's nice pockets, but it won't matter, they will do forced vaxxines next, for all cali residents AND no gas powered cars by 2030.
Great video! Born and Raised in L,.A. too - I moved to a nearby town and came into L.A. just this past weekend after having been away from months... absolutely depressing, vwkierd vibe this time. VERY uncomfortable.
Traffic is much worse now than 20 years ago in this stretch of 8100-8300 Sunset that he is showing. 27 years at the same job, commuting down this very stretch of Sunset Blvd. I’ve seen it change, businesses come and go, but traffic only gets worse.
Crazy man. I used to be all over the Sunset strip in my 20s. My ex-girlfriends roommate worked at The Standard, we would get free drinks. Sad to see what it's become.
Just a snapshot of now. It has been bought and will be back. Hilarious how some use regular business cycles - boom and bust- to prop their views of morality and/or politics.
Not if they keep voting Democrat. It's not just about their weak on crime standards. It's their bad handling of money, high taxes and fees. Most of it goes to support "undocumented migrants". Yep. The money you work hard for is paying to support them. The Democrats are buying votes in a manner of speaking, as they accommodate and help undocumented migrants with YOUR tax dollars.
Lets see if the A.G. of California really does it. And it will take many years to just improve alittle. Newscum has made California unfriendly to businesses. Newscum also invites illegals into the state and California is like 70 billion in debt.

I agree! So expensive and for what? 🤦🏽♂️

@@Moneyhardawaythat's that 1984 Life, the book I mean. Dystopia created by phones. It's shameful.

Perhaps a good place to write a novel, but I would never go back

California needs a new Governor. Throw him out!
Gavin Newson sucks
If you're from Chicago and not Cali, please mind your business
Very hard due to election fraud. Dems print fake ballots first and just truck in numbers just above what's needed to win as votes are counted. That's why they have early voting and late counting. CA accepts ballots by mail up to 7 days after the election closes nationwide.
You get what you vote for ❤
LA has gone down the drain, yet the cost of living is still sky high. Same with SF. Considering the quality of living, in both cities, things should be much more affordable. Sad to see the once great state of California failing us so miserably.
This is what is hard to understand. If the quality of life is dropping, how can the cost of living possibly be rising?!
You can blame the Tech Bro's in SFO for the high price of housing and in LA the billionaire oligarchs.

Hey, I was just trying to tell Taylor how much I liked her last album, I swear!
That’s sad I had no idea they were closed! Sunset Sound as well 😓
I had read that Sunset Sound closed, but didn’t know about the Record Plant. These are historic recording places! Very sad!
Wow, I was in a band that recorded at Sunset Sound. I had no idea that it closed down. 😢
What’s your email brother?! I have a friend who makes music there!
Thank you for checking it out Citizen!
The downturns started with Governors Jerry Brown and Schwarzenegger. Plus everyone has moved online, and Amazon took over retail. Trump could have done a better job on Covid too. 1.2million dead, businesses closed down.
Listen to the end of the video; Our boi sounds like an Italian citizen right after the collapse of the Western Roman Empire!
I just subbed. Yeah man can you take us to the other side of LA the non tourist areas? Dope video.
I have 3 more videos up on the channel bro! Filming another tomorrow! Thank you for the sub!
Well what interesting stories can you share then?
I agree LA and San Diego have gone down hill
I worked there too. 1979-1982

Great video! I live near LA but haven’t been to Beverly Hills or Hollywood in years. In the 80’s and 90’s it was THE place to be.
It definitely was! Thank you very much I’m glad you liked the video!
True. And that's a lesson not to get too cocky and complacent. Circumstances do change.
Went to LA last year for the rock bars on the Sunset Strip and I wasn't disappointed I loved it. Viper Room was crazy, I had to wait for a homeless man to stop pissing on the entrance before I could take a picture. Great video man 👌👌
Simply the end of this era. It took about 80 years. Theres no going back. Get used to it.
I used to dream of living in Los Angeles, West Hollywood where the rock clubs are in the 80s and 90s, now , seeing how L.A. is dying, over expensive and messed up it is, I'm content with my small town in southern Indiana, which is growing with the Toyota vehicle manufacturing plant here, always hiring.
hey, good to hear indiana has some jobs, yikes, that place got flushed. Ever see that hbo docu on indiana?

My wife & I are kinda in the same boat. I’ve lived here for 30+ YEARS. My wife nearly 50 YEARS. We both grew up here,
Both lived in Santa Monica where we both attended the same Jr.
WOW!

Thanks again, good job.
Keep up the videos.
Thank you so much for watching bro! I wish you and your wife the best!
Can't believe the Standard is like that. I was a paparazzi back in 2011 and that was a good spot for celebs. Left L.A. 12 years ago. Sad
I remember those days. Long gone smh
You can barely go out to dinner in LA withwithout getting robbed for your phones, wallet, and jewelry. That type of stuff has an effect on businesses in the area.
I agree you can’t be too comfortable!

I enjoyed holidaying in LA, basically CA.
Thank you very much for the feedback brother! Best to you and your family! More videos coming soon!
Great content! Would be awesome to see how the areas looked in say the 90s, early 2000s in contrast to today.
That would be a great video to make! Definitely considering it!

Thank you for your feedback bro! Tokyo looks amazing!
Right. I wish I went and visited back then man. I’m 35 and visited a few times over the years but never seen it back in the good days

Agreed!
Newer is not necessarily better. Look at the newer buildings that have been built or proposed just for the Sunset Strip the last few years…
There's so much infrastructure there and it's all old and dirty and filled with trash. It's probably impossible to replace or fix all of it. Every little patch of concrete or asphalt or utility line is just some future repair bill. It's wild. It's like a future rust belt scenario but all playing out while the tech boom is ostensibly still happening m

*Re: Hollywood's Postmortem*
Hollywood will *never* really recover after that writers strike.
Lo mismo para todo USA , ni Trump va poder salvarlo
Good it's getting fuqd
If Trump can take out the Mexican cartels, all this drug use and crime will stop. Business will come back.
There are so many homeless people walking around, pooping all over the sidewalks that it kills businesses. The cartels having nothing to do with it.
Even then it's gonna take a long time bro newsom already said he's going to war with trump whatever that means. It's gonna take years and years
Dumb. CIA and DEA control the drug trade not mention that weapon manufacturers and banks that launder money plus the US uses the cartels de distabilize Mexico. American ppl really have no clue
Yeah thats not happening, Americans love drugs
He isn't saving anyone or anything!! Don't you see??
@GnarlsBarkley123
My last apartment was in Baldwin Hills.
Yeah please stay there.
ya just exposed it dumb dumb, haha. JK, I am sure cali has it's nice pockets, but it won't matter, they will do forced vaxxines next, for all cali residents AND no gas powered cars by 2030.
Great video. Just subscribed. I used to love LA but the LA I loved is gone. Hope it can come back someday
Thank you so much for the support! I hope so too!
Great video! Born and Raised in L,.A. too - I moved to a nearby town and came into L.A. just this past weekend after having been away from months... absolutely depressing, vwkierd vibe this time. VERY uncomfortable.
Nothing like i remember it from back in my youth . The streets look dead even traffic looks less than it was 20 yrs ago
All we have left are to enjoy are the documentaries of those times 😓
Just a snapshot of now. It has been bought and will be back. Hilarious how some use regular business cycles - boom and bust- to prop their views of morality and/or politics.
The cost of living is despicably outrageous! It’s a domino effect when we have people in power that are full of greed!
Prop 36 passed. Changes for the better are on the way. Might take a year or so to see a big difference, but it will be worth the wait.
I hope so. Theft has been a major issue!
I agree!
Can I just ask why they keep using the same friggin prop #.. back in my day...prop 36 got the idiots who took it out of jail waiting then to go drug classes and whatever and when they missed those classes... They just went back to jail and did their time anyways
What do you expect? This is what takes place when allllllll the money is grabbed by the top 1%, and everyone else can’t afford a Dollar store.
Okay, clown. Thx.
Everything now $1.25
