@@WalkWithMeTim That's what I mean. Intro music is fine. I absolutely hate it (to the point of turning vids off) when they have music playing at the same time as talking throughout the vid. Sometimes it's not even background and I can barely hear their voices over it. I'm not hard of hearing either. Netflix docs are the worst for that but a lot of TH-camrs do it too.

Yet, could those be the original furnishings in Marilyn's suite? If so, I say, by all means keep them as so much else has changed. Leather can be refurbished. In general, what people think of as "Hollywood" is fake today and only maintained to trap tourists into coming around and spending money. I lived in LA many years ago and it was fake back then. Oh, well, the old dream is fun.

then suddenly shooting out of the door. 11:30 I can't think of a more powerful endorsement for that place than Scobby Doo. I honestly would love to stay at that hotel, and the Marilyn suite in particular.

I worked for a catering company ( Patinas) that used The Roosevelt for a lot of large events like weddings, corporate events and parties and such. This was around 2001, 2002 and I remember the hotel was either under renovation or just closed for extensive repairs. It was in the main hall / the old part of the hotel. There was a large restroom with a row of about 15 sinks. The event was at night and it was late. A friend and I were working there for that event. He went to use the restroom and when he entered, all of the faucets started running. These are the old sinks with the two faucets. They were all running full speed when he entered. He ran out and told us. I came up and they were all running. We just left. It was indeed a creepy building to work in, especially late at night when the events would take place. You could just feel the weirdness all around the old part of the building. I don’t remember seeing the new parts. Mind you, this is over 24 years old. Most of the hotels I worked in around the Los Angeles area were just as old and just as creepy. I can’t prove it was haunted. I never took a job at that venue again. You have to go to Tommy’s Burgers and not Pinks for goodness sakes! You are a burger man and your life won’t be the same after you have had one bacon cheeseburger at Tommy’s. There is one on Sunset Blvd.

Yes! I’ve only ever briefly been in the front lobby back in maybe 2011. I love the Mid Century Modern “updates” from the time combined with some of the modern contemporary touches all not interfering with the original original 1927 grandeur from the likes of the front entrance.
Being in the heart of Hollywood Blvd, it makes sense why all the special rooms have locked doors. Which really is unfortunate. Though, I don’t know if anyone can just enter the front doors like we used to be able to?
I’m blessed to get Pink’s when the Orange County Fair comes around. That way I don’t have to go to L.A. every time I want not just any hot dog…but an iconic hot dog. Pink’s really is The Most!

I went and watched some random movie at Mann's Chinese Theater when visiting LA in 2003. Stayed within walking distance from there as well, I was at The Magic Castle Hotel right next to the Magic Castle which is exclusive only for magicians and illusionists by invitation only or something. Saw some rather fancy limos come and go there.
I really didn't bother with celebrities much or any while in LA. I was there to meet a singer (it was a trip I had won through a magazine) and also randomly got to meet a popular Swedish band that happened to be in San Diego on their first US tour at the time (so we took a roadtrip to see them, so the guy from the magazine could get an interview with them) I was in their tour bus, seeing fans outside, earlier in the day, before the gig, I had been chitchatting with the band. When meeting the singer I was there to see, we chitchatted like a couple of peers.
Jack Osborne walked right past me at LAX and I didn't even look up or bat an eye.
I'm just pretty unphased when it comes to celebrities. They're people just like us, even though with some these days you can question how much person is left, or if they're more plastic than human...
LA, and Hollywood and Beverly Hills in particular, is just so full of celebrities of different levels of fame, it's honestly kinda hard to not see at least one

It’s Marilyn’s mirror. I would love to stay at the HR… The condition of the seats, couch and fridge are not good enough for a hotel of this prestige. MM room needs to be cherished. Disappointing for the money you pay for to stay in it.
Should be free mini bar. 🎉

Funny to say, but it seems like they try to keep the Marilyn Monroe suite authentic. Which would mean that it's up to the specs and luxury of the 50's. Which would also mean that it's kept in the old times. So maybe other suites would be more luxurious than this one for a lower price. Booking this one, you will spend more, but you will get less than other luxury suites. Just for the nostalgia...

Cheers Tim, enjoyed that. Marilyn, actually had her FIRST ever professional photo shoot by the hotel’s pool. The mural on the pool’s floor, was painted by famous British artist David Hockney. We stayed there in 2007, and it appears to have changed little in that time, other than they’ve removed the Hollywood wording on the sign. My late Mother, reckoned that the hotel was dimly lit, to allow clandestine meetings amongst the rich and famous. 👍🏼

I stayed there in the early 1980's and it was very scruffy and basic. I read, quite aa few years ago that it had had a makeover and it seems as though it is not much better. I understood that the hotel goes back to the 1920's when it was supposed to be glamorous. It was a big disappointment to me on holiday.

The Hollywood Tower of Terror Disney ride (which sadly has been modified and the haunted hotel theme is gone) was actually based on the Biltmore Hotel in downtown Los Angeles. If you haven't already, you should definitely check it out. The pool at the Biltmore is absolutely stunning - totally like a Hollywood movie set. The Marilyn Monroe suite at the Roosevelt is certainly a bit of a disappointment quality wise and no, I would not pay that kind of money for it lol! Chateau Marmont is another spooky celebrity hideaway worth checking out - also pricey. Great video Tim - thank you!
