- Hello guys! My Impala 2009 apparently has a bad transmission. But before going in deep into switching it out I want to make sure that it’s not just the shift solenoide or pressure sensor or something meaningless. Ok ,, to fix it , you need to open the transmission pan and change the transmission supply line . So easy to fix it , google transmission supply line and u will know what am talking about . That’s will save u 600 dollar mechanic fees. 35 minute job. Thumbs up plz , thank u

I'm really nervous about taking mine in. Some shops are shady and will charge you for a new transmission but I'm hoping my shop I go to will be honest.
So what happened?
Low oil pressure has nothing to do with the transmission that's the oil in your engine
Check if it’s the transmission oil feed tube. I had this same problem but I ended up knowing what was wrong with it and it was the oil feed tube my tube was in a different piece. So I ended up putting a new and it cost me $150 since I got my discount on napa.

I have the same issue with my 2007 impala but my guy told me to change my filter inside the transmission pan I hope and pray that's the problem

Sorry guys I kind of left this behind! So I took my car in to transmission discounters and pretty much had a bad transmission they we’re charging me like 4,500 to install a new one between other fees i guess.. that was a few years back. That same year I uploaded this video. If you’re having trouble with your car at this time in 2022 might me more expensive since the market is higher for used cars so keep us posted if you had an estimate for future people who come upon this video.
The crazy thing to me is....I read several different solutions to this problem on researching!! I guess only a great car mechanic can find the true solution.

Have issue with my Toyota sienna 1998 any time i packed it for like 5hour plus it usually delay when i put it on drive i will need to raise the car severally before it will engage.

Dudw pull ur transmission pan down and inspect the oil tubes look for a broken end were it has tbe weld its probably apart it 4 tubes together I just seen a video I'm going to check mine as well

Ok finally droped the transmission pan turns out my tranny is shot the drive band on mine was broken that why it won't take for forward so I have a mission lol hope urs is just the oil tubes

My 06 impala makes a noise when i change into reverse or drive a clunking noise only does it wen car is cold once it warmed up it wont do it any suggestions??! I already changed all engine nd transmission mounts because I thought it was that guesss not???
Could be the universal joints are worn are the ball joints take some penetrating oil open the hood squirt where the bolts come up that hold the struts in spray a few times and let that soak in see if it stops the penetrating oil will work its way down into the ball joints and into the struts Scotty kilmer on his channel show this
I know this information is a bit late for the guy who posted the video, but its a very common problem with the 4T65E transmissions. No forward gears work. Only the reverse. Most likely culprit is the 1-2 Band. Not a job to DIY for the timid I'll tell you what. Dealing with it myself at the moment. Leaning towards replacing the transmission since who knows what all else will be gettiing ready to break in transmission. On my 2008 Uplander which uses the same transmission as the Impala's 4T65E there is a trick to get you 3rd gear back. Very simple. Simply unplug your TCM. The Transmission Control Module/Unit. Easy enough to verify what I am telling you about the BAND issue with other TH-cam videos. Search em and find them. I'll have to try that with my range rover, it won't move in D at all but you can feel R catch but it wont move either, I think it might be the TC but none of the drive or propshafts move at all
@@jessebrown9046 ... By unplugging the TCM it somehow releases the one mechanical default gear which is third gear. Also referred to as LIMP MODE. You can use the vehicle for a good long while with just 3rd gear. Just go easy on it. No fast accelerations and try to keep your RPMS no higher than 2000. In other words, don't be a lead foot on the accelerator. As long as the pump in the transmission is working you won't hurt anything although using third gear constantly will wear it out much quicker. Not sure how long, or how soon it will wear it out, but I'm still going strong driving it daily now for months. I managed to procure a good transmission jack. I'm going to try to find a replacement transmission from a vehicle to pull myself and do a swap out rather than replace the bands in mine. The tear down and rebuild to replace the bands is far too intimidating for me and besides a kit to rebuild it would cost a pretty penny. Better to find a replacement you can pull yourself. Even then there are several different versions of the 4T65E, so you have to be very careful to get a compatible one that fits your vehicle.
Band issue will still have 1st and 2nd.
@@W.A.R.R. Not when all the bands are broken. I found a pr5ofessional who specializes in rebuilding the 4T65E and has done so many over the years he can usually pin point a diagnosis by way of the symptoms. 9 times out of 10 its the bands. Not quite always, but close enough. There is a manufacturing defect with the 4T65E that invariably leads to it. There is also an aftermarket upgrade kit to prevent it from ever happening again. Actually there are several upgrade kits to correct that and two other deficiencies and all three are dirt cheap.
My 2009 Impala shifts in reverse, and I can drive forward if I shift manually through 1st, 2nd, and 3rd. Then I can put the car in drive until I have to stop.

Remove the transmission pan. There will be some 1/4 steel pipes with flanges on them. It probably broke a pipe take it off have it welded and it should fix your problem.

Inieka Glover sorry to hear that. The head mechanic at a transmission shop near me says Chevys between the years 2006 - 2012 are brought to their shop more than any other car. Says their transmissions are trash.

It just happened to me yesterday I have a 2009 Chevy Impala and it won't go into no gears I started I didn't drive give it gas doesn't do anything it was at first going into reverse and moving but now the reverse won't even work any ideas sure would appreciate it I can't afford a new transmission I have two children 8 and 10 and I'm not working right at the moment due to a torn rotator cuff in my arm that happened a year ago at my Factory

How car run now was it a transmission
The transmission routinely gets too hot because stupid GM made some cars with the radiator end caps on the sides instead of the top and bottom. Therefore they have to put the transmission cooler in the side oriented vertically instead of in the bottom horizontally. The radiator is 30 degrees hotter in the top than the bottom--about 215 versus 185. The upper part of the transmission cooler is always too hot. Transmissions need to stay below 200. An auxiliary cooler will prevent 90% of the problems if installed soon enough before too much damage is done. Dumb ass GM engineers.
Google how to change out the shift solenoid it's under the shifter very easy to get to I just had a wire pop off and I fixed it I put it back in and I glued it epoxy and they gave more slack on the plug wires the plug that goes into the solenoid

Actually it’s not your TCM would trip a code warning light…. I had mine replaced and it still did it I think it’s more of a pressure sensor or a solenoid
It happened to me yesterday 7/4/23 didn't know what to do, so I ended up driving my car in the 2nd gear for 15 miles at 40 mph in the freeway lol. Luckily i made it home safe, but not I have to figure out what the problem is.

Smh GM do better you know these transmissions were ass why not do a recall on them it sucks everybody going through almost the same thing mines will reverse with no problem but in order for me to drive i have to put it in 1 gear 2 and 3 then shift it back in drive then it drives with no problem but when i come to a stop in drive in try to pull off the engine just rev up like transmission not catching so in order for me to go i have to drop it in 1 then repeat again 1 2 3 then drive smh its very ignoring not to mention transmission slips while in drive smh

Every boby stop guesting engine light is on go get that check first and it will tell you the engine code and go from there.
Mines gave me a shift solenoid e code. I changed both and it still do same thing.. I only feel it dropping into gear when i put it in 1st or 2nd gear on the shifter.

It's a transmission problem. You need to change your transmission. Mine did the same. Can reverse but not forward. Bought a second hand transmission for 700 dollars and replaced it. Car worked OK after that. To avoid this problem you hv to change your transmission fluid every so often
Guys the problem with these transmission they come with a problem and everybody wanna know the answer is to change out all the shift solenoid and the output shaft sensor make sure you not getting transmission to hot and Make sure there are no naked wires that’s causing a short to transmission

All car makes and models have similar issues for various reasons . Gmc (owns Chevy ) actually makes great cars , the only large issue they have is in the dex cool coolant .Name a brand and i bet you can find someone who hates it .
