YES! I did it, was able to get the plastic panel off with only a credit card, popped right off and after a bit of searching I did find the silver button. Thank you man!!!

My 2010 impala had the shiftier problem today, locked up in park and would not come out, this also could be a brake light switch on peddle , check this first,,,make sure your brake lights are working.... first time. with passengers seat back all the way I could pull back the side of console and reach hand up and push button,,,,IT WORKED,,,If it keeps acting up I will fix the connector,,But for now everything is working,,,I went one step farther ,I drilled a 1/4 inch hole right where the button is so I can insert a pencil or Bic pen into hole and push button for emergency. Works great. cost was $00. small hole unnoticeable with seat up 1/2 way. hard to see with seat all the way back.

And showing the diagram saved me too lol, because my wires were covered in black tape so when I tried to pull the tape off, all the wires pulled out so I had no idea where they went. But you saved me again. Car is shifting perfectly now. Had so many issues with the chevy impala, I kinda don’t ever want one again lol.

Ive been running into this issue it would let me shift out of park after 5-10 minute I just got done today messing with the switch wiring a little and found it’s a loose wire in the switch. Now I just have to find and order the part to replace it out. Well done on posting this. The dealer ship I went to ask questions at wants to charge 150$ just to tell me ya it’s fucked up. I figure why spend 150-300$ for them to go through the whole thing when 20$ and a few minutes time can fix it just as good.

Breezy.1k in the video I'm clearly replacing the wiring harness and the wires dnt change the gear they all work in sync between the gear shift and the ignition lock cylinder and the cost is gonna be about that much becuz you didn't do it yourself labor is $100 a hr now..
This happened to me while waiting on an entrance to a parking garage on a down hill slope. What I found out that the wires leading to the shift lever are too short. There was a kit available from GM that problem. It contained the connector with the butt connectors you need. I can't remember the part number because I'm too old (71). The price was in the mid 40 dollar range. Do not skimp on the crimping pliers you use, you need a good pair. Mine are T&B...
I was told there was a bar you had to replace not at electric piece. Could you help me understand this better. Does the gear shifter have a bar that goes to shift the gears can it break. I’ve been told that’s why the gear shifter gets stuck. It is it just this electrical part need replacing

Keep in mind what this looks like. Had this happen after leaving a party on NYE. Pried the fascia off and was fumbling around for the switch half in the bag. All of a sudden there's a light in my eyes and I look up to see 5 cops with guns drawn.

What do I do if I did what you did but cut purple wire? I spliced purple wire back to same spot you did but still cant get key out. any ideas?
