Thank you so much! I was able to do this following your video step by step. My Impala would randomly get stuck in park every once in awhile and I would have to press that button to get it out of park. This helped me fix it. Great video!!
Great video. I only have one question after watching your video a few times. Couldn't you have taken off the bolts that secure the shifter housing altogether to work on the shift Interlock solenoid? I've switched over my interior and replaced seats, trim, console, door panels, and even the one piece molded carpet. It may have been easier. Your thoughts and thanks for making this video. Cheers.
Hello John I did not think of that. I will have to review my video to see if that would be easier. I have not had to go back into that area again since I did the work.

The doorman part and gm part number you listed show that they are not compatible with your car according to The Dorman & ACDelco website. I have a 2008 Impala (console shift) and the dealership is telling me I have to order the entire console shift Assembly as it will come with the solenoid. How did you know that dorman part would work?
@@lovinhouse374 Hello Lovin. I am not sure about the part number. I will look around to see if I still have the part but I think it may have been tossed. It was an identical part and I tried to cross reference the part numbers where I could.
Hello Fan de chavalone. I do not know if that is possible. It would require a lot of work to get the shift cables repositioned.to get the shifter on the steering wheel.
Not exactly sure what you mean by the "Black casing" I removed the trim around the shift lever then removed the plastic center piece between the seats. I will check my photos to see what else I removed. but with those pieces off the car the solenoid should be accessible.
@@RTR.Lano251 I found it easier to unclip that plastic piece and turn it 90 degrees then fold the flexible cover back (the piece I have taped up to the gear shift lever) so I had a straight shot at the screw at the back of the solenoid. You may be able to reach the second screw to remove the solenoid with that piece in place but I found it easier to go straight down. That is a Nut driver with a #15 Torx bit. Hope that helps.
Mine is a 2009 also it will only go into reverse it only has 40,000 miles on it I just bought it today thinking that I can fix it the girl that I bought it from sold it to me for $1,200 and it's in great condition and runs great I think I may have got a good deal I'll this if that works then I really got good deal

I know it works because I fitted it a few months ago and it is still working like it should. It was an exact replacement.

One more question…did the OEM solenoid that you removed from the car have a part #? If so, was it the same as the GM part # you listed in the video?

@@davidapp3730 update! Just replaced mine with the Dorman and it works! The factory one I took out had a 7298047 stamped on the side.

Mine will only go into reverse
My 09 impla only goes n reverse not in drive
That does not sound like the interlock more a transmission problem. With the interlock issue you can't move the gear shift out of park.
