      It’s not the talent. It’s the talent, skill, work ethic, and will. On raw talent alone people like Vince Carter could’ve done anything. But Jordan has the combination of all those things that separates him. Honestly Kobe had the skill, work ethic and will once he matured but he wasn’t as physically talented, believe it or not. He objectively wasn’t as quick, couldn’t jump as high, had smaller hands, and wasn’t as strong. Skill wise jordan was a higher percentage overall shooter and a better defender in his 87-93 prime, but that’s it.

    Back then every team had a 7ft center center and a power forward, they didn't space the floor and stand around at the 3pt line like they do today. They were always under the basket and in the paint, no lanes for dunking or layups. He created those lanes for himself and took quite a bit of punishment in doing so. He didn't take games off or whine about not having enough help, he didn't recruit other all stars to win titles, he just played all out on offense and defense every night. no player in today's game can anything close to that. He came into the league a man. Win or lose he was always the best player on the floor, and you got a show every night. Kobe was amazing, to me Kobe and Duncan are the best all around players (offense/defense) since MJ, but their will never be a player like MJ again. The only player in today's game I consider unique is Steph the rest are copies of what we've already seen. For those that were not around in the late 80's or early 90s you missed the best that ever were. MJ, Magic, Barry Sanders, Jerry Rice and Mike Tyson. They all had an aura of invincibility and excitement..

    • @trevortamboline279
      @trevortamboline279 ปีที่แล้ว

      GREAT observations! Agreed that Steph is the only unique superstar in the league right now and Sanders, Tyson and Rice along with Jordan are at the tops of my best ever lists, too. Just look at how many 7 footers Jordan is dunking on in this video... and this is just a fraction of what he did in his career. THE greatest of all time, bar none.

      MJ made the NBA.
      Word on the street was that the NBA was in money trouble before MJ.
      MJ saved the league by changing the game, and attracting fans. Look how much a franchise was worth before MJ, and look what they were at when he retired. The league knew they couldn't just make another MJ, so they rigged the game, and started making superstars by calling fouls, allowing more room for players to shine. NO WAY IN HELL would LBJ be a superstar in the 90s... he would not get the calls, and he would not get the space.
      The NBA will soon be like the WNBA... all layups and 3 pointers... eventually there will be mixed gender teams... because why not.

    One thing you young guys gotta understand. Back then you would get a hard foul often. Headlock, slammed to the floor, they were fighting while playing the game. Kobe didn't have to deal with that. And LeBron has it real easy. If that Jordan played today. He would average 40 to 50 points per game easy.

    What people who only saw Kobe don't realize (and lightweight _can't comprehend_ ... it's weird even writing this myself) is that Mike was _on a whole other level_ athletically, but had the same mindset, and was basically the Kobe template. Kobe's career stats are closer to his _Wizards_ stats at damn near 40 than his career stats. I think LeBron probably has the greatest overall career when all is said and done, but Mike had the highest peak level performance of any player I've seen or really even heard about aside from Wilt Chamberlain.

    • @amostlyreasonableguy
      @amostlyreasonableguy ปีที่แล้ว +3

      I think you pretty much nailed it here. Kobe had the mental focus, work ethic and will but he wasn’t as laterally quick or as lightning quick with the first step, couldn’t jump as high to alter his shots as ridiculously well on the fly as MJ, wasn’t as physically strong and had smaller hands, so he shot a lower percentage.
      Lebron will end up with most of the records and stats through impressive longevity but 88-93 Jordan is probably the most unstoppable two way player and clutch shot killer ever, and 96-98 Jordan is still the best player at the time and where Kobe eventually approached the neighborhood of being.
      Younger Jordan though approaching 90-91 was just blazing fast, flying to the basket at will and fundamentally sound with the sweet fadeaway jumper already but had such rocket skates and lift that he didn’t need to rely on the post up game as much. He became more efficient and crafty, with less risky passing in the air in the second 3 peat but he was a complete beast on offense and defense in the first 3 peat and the 2-3 years leading up to it, he just needed another all-star all-around player. Once he finally had that level player when Scottie matured and toughened up the Bulls were undeniable.
      Hell, they probably would’ve made it to the finals in 89-90 if Pippen didn’t have a migraine in game 7 against the Pistons.

The problem is you're not good enough to do it so you have to hate on a man who is good enough to do it...
    For that matter what makes you qualified over Michael Jordan to decide what the best play for him was in that situation?
    Most people I watch who react to this mixtape always say that Jordan shouldn't have switched hands but it is the basketball equivalent of hating on a guy because he's got a nicer car than you. It's almost like you just hating on him because you can't make that play...
