      bridge4 Random tinfoil hat theory: Halfhand is an example of a fighter that managed to train for the use of their offhand, and Jaime lost his primary hand. There's also precedent for Wargs being able to Warg more than one being at once... what if Bran uses his abilities to ... grant Jaime the Halfhand's skill? In one of your other videos, you go over how Warging into someone always leaves a bit of one's soul behind, so if Bran were to use that to Jaime's benefit, it could make him a serious threat in combat once more, would be great following a redemption scene, perhaps just prior to the finale :D
      Crazy theory, yeah - but all the pieces are there!

    Man I love videos like these. I think the Halfhand should be placed in tier 2 maybe even tier 1. The wildlings feared him like no one else. THE WILDLINGS. Arguably the most vicious and hardest people in the world feared this man. You can't be notorious beyond the wall unless you're a legend. Not to mention Jon spoke of him like he was a god. Also let's not forget he did something that Jaime Lannister was never able to do. He was able to train with his left hand and still be a badass legendary swordsman in a harsh place like beyond the wall, and Jaime Lannister was no scrub. The Halfhand is underrated.

    I think the Qhorin is Arthur Dayne theory really adds to the relationship between the two, Dayne would have had to have been spared by Ned meaning he owes John by extension a debt, and if he knew who john was(which he probably would given that he knows he's Ned's "bastard" his vows as a kings-guard would require him to sacrifice himself for John to ensure his survival.

    I ve always liked the Qhorin Halfhand is Arthur Dayne theory, it makes a lot of sense. As the last man standing he gives Jon to Ned at the Tower of Joy, but since he had forsaken his Kingsguards vows he joins the Nights Watch. When he dies for Jon, he finally fulfils his Kingsguard vows. There is something poetic about it all. Quorin Halfhand can rank in the highest tier, he learn to fight with his left hand which Jaime isn't able to do. It is a fun theory but properly not true.

    -Spear-men (Grey Worm, Oberyn Martell, Obara Sand)
    -Opportunistic/Varied (Ramsey Bolten, Tormund Giantsbane)

    Like it's said in their vow: "...I shall earn no glory..." No matter how good a swordsman you are, if you're in the Night's Watch you won't be respected as much as a King's Guard member. I think the Night's Watch probably featured some of the strongest fighters of Westeros and Quorin being so respected or feared on both sides makes me believe he might even be Tier 1.

    As far as top fighters go, I find Jon Snow to be the most interesting fighter on the show. All the great ones on the show just show up that way. We meet them at their peak or just past it but with Jon, we see a slow and steady progression. As a trained fighter, I find that more interesting than a character who just shows up as a total bad ass or has a quick, magical transformation. At this point in the show, I'd even put Jon firmly in tier 3 pushing into tier 2. (I've only read the first book, so this is all based on what I've seen on the show.)

    I knew already the theory about Qhorin be Arthur Dayne or one of his compagnon and I like it pretty much - and if we pretend that's true,, we can say that Qhorin liking Jon and protecting him since he saw him is a real plot : the son of Ned Stark, the man who let him live (whatever he is Dayne or another) and let him join the Night Watch.
    Also I think Qhorin is a tier 2 really, and if he is one of these mens I mentionned upper that's logical

    In the books the fight between Jon and Qhorin played out quite different. Qhorin was actually besting Jon and wasn't holding back, but mid fight Ghost bites and latches on to Qhorin's ankle providing a window for Jon to finish him. Jon swings longclaw at Qhorins neck cutting in just enough only an inch of the blade tip was red with blood. Now this is important because the free folk give Jon shit saying he wouldn't have been able to best Qhorin without his beast going as far to say he's a warg.

    “For the young, death is an enemy they wish to try their strength against. For those of us a little older, she is an old friend, an old lover, but one we are not eager to meet again soon.”
    - Robert Jordan
    The half-hand, knew death and accepted it for what it was, a part of life. All men, have a right to choose, when to dig their feet in and stand their ground. Dane, the half-hand and the bold knew this. This is part, of why they are top tier fighters. Great video.

    I didn't like the actor who was cast to play Qhorin. He wasn't big and imposing and memorable like he was in the books. In the books, jon is so excited to go ranging with him because he is such a night's watch legend. He did something jamie could never do - become a better fighter with his weak hand after a maiming. I think a lot of people forget about him, so it's a great video to give him the respect he deserves. No chance he's Dayne, but he's a T2/T3 fighter for sure!

      +vinny2times you know what I noticed after i finally got tired of making be versions of this, qhorin does look somewhat similar to the actor that cast as dayne
      Again,Im wirh u in not buying that theory, especially in the show, but I found it interesting that an aged dayne would have a similar face to qhorin

    • @vlanzano
      @vlanzano 6 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      bridge4 it’s an interesting theory and the actors do look somewhat similar, but I think there is no chance IMO. Ned’s fever dream shows he has sadness, respect, and remorse for killing Dayne and how howland reed saved his life. That fever dream is one of my favorite passages in the entire series. Gives me chills every time. It would be less meaningful if Dayne secretly went to the night’s watch. It’s a cool theory, just not plausible IMO.

      I think I'd have the halfhand in tier 2.surely the free folk hold him in such high regard you see the way they talk about him he's the bogeyman to the wildlings. Although I'm big believer that in the books at least he's actually Oswell Whent!

    • @scottie16976
      @scottie16976 6 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      I agree. I think he is one of the six of Rhaegars rubies that the elder brother says the have found. with Jamie being the seventh they are waiting for..
      A Feast for Crows Brienne VI. We have found silver cups and iron pots, sacks of wool and bolts of silk, rusted helms and shining swords . . . aye, and rubies."
      That interested Ser Hyle. "Rhaegar's rubies?"
      "It may be. Who can say? The battle was long leagues from here, but the river is tireless and patient. Six have been found. We are all waiting for the seventh."
      I dont think you can make the shape of a three headed dragon from seven rubies
      I think Jamies dream while he's asleep on the weirwood stump alludes to them being beyond the wall. "armored in snow"
      A Storm of Swords - Jaime VI Brienne touched his arm. "There are more."
      He saw them too. They were armored all in snow, it seemed to him, and ribbons of mist swirled back from their shoulders. The visors of their helms were closed, but Jaime Lannister did not need to look upon their faces to know them.
      Five had been his brothers. Oswell Whent and Jon Darry. Lewyn Martell, a prince of Dorne. The White Bull, Gerold Hightower. Ser Arthur Dayne, Sword of the Morning. And beside them, crowned in mist and grief with his long hair streaming behind him, rode Rhaegar Targaryen, Prince of Dragonstone and rightful heir to the Iron Throne.

    Stumbled upon your channel recently, gonna have to watch a lot of videos!
    I think Qhorin is definitely tier 2 at least, in both book and show. We don't have much evidence from his fights (the fact that he was destroying Jon Snow doesn't mean much I think, Jon was much weaker back then - only looked good because he was fighting peasants and the likes), so we have to look at the legend surrounding the man. Both in the NW and in Mance's army, they all think he's the real deal. When friends and foes alike think you're great, it means a lot.
    It's hard to rank a lot of show characters because their skill is all over the place (Brienne is constantly established as a god-tier fighter for 6 seasons, then suddenly she loses a 1v1 fight against Arya, who has never won a single 'fair' fight; Only assassinations, or using tricks - like the Waif). Arya went from an assassin with no fighting skills, to a master swordsman... And it's not training that did it, given she was still terrible on her last day training with the HoB&W.
    If I had to rank some of the top characters from the books though, I'd go with something like... (in context, 'bad' means 'bad compared to the rest'. Eddard Stark might be better than 80% of the soldiers in Westeros due to his lordly training, but this tier is about people who are better than 99.999% of the soldiers in Westeros).
    Also all characters are in their prime (Selmy at a young age, Jaime with 2 hands) and only their book version is considered.
    God tier : Barristan Selmy, Jaime Lannister, Arthur Dayne, Bronn(controversial placement? I'll explain after the tiers)
    Legend tier : Blackfish, Sandor Clegane, Oberyn Martell, Greatjon Umber, Mance Rayder, Robert Baratheon, Qhorin
    Great tier : Garlan Tyrell, Gregor Clegane, Khal Drogo, Victarion Greyjoy
    OK tier : Jon Snow, Rhaegar Targaryen, Brienne of Tarth, Tormund, Yoren, Belwas, Thoros
    Bad tier : Eddard Stark, Stannis Baratheon, Robb Stark
    Few notes/explanations on controversial names :
    -I tried to avoid putting too many characters based on reputation alone (like Balon Swann, who's probably excellent, but all we have to judge is "People say he's excellent").
    -If you pay attention to Bronn's fights and story (vs ser vardis, vs the mountain clans, the fights vs the recruits, etc... ) and his well deserved confidence, he's probably EXTREMELY good. The only thing is that he's a sellsword so no one knows him. I think he's GRRM takes on "What if a god-tier fighter was NOT from a noble family?" Well, the answer to that question is Bronn. He raised the ranks, first a knight then a minor lord, but it tooks forever, and he's still not very known.
    -Gregor Clegane is way overrated imho. The only time he fought someone of note, he lost, badly(before Oberyn went stupid). He's a 8 feet tall brute in full plate armor and that's like fighting peasants with a tank. But against good fighters who adapt to the fight, I don't see him doing well. Prime Selmy would shove a sword through his eyeslit without breaking a sweat. I almost put Sandor in god tier though, but I don't think he's quite up there.
    -Jon Snow and Brienne are wayyyy overrated, and way too strong in the show (because they wanted them to make super heroes). In the books Jon Snow is annihilated in his fight with Mance Rayder. Brienne lost half her fights (1 out of 2), other than the melee anyway - doesn't really count imho, Loras was 2nd and he's not that great.
    Few characters I considered bumping up 1 rank : Tormund, Belwas - would've needed to fight someone of note, but I think he's good - Victarion (would need to fight someone of note/in armor...), Gregor Clegane (Maybe Oberyn Martell is just THAT great, so losing to him doesn't mean he's that bad. Though to say). Sandor Clegane (didn't want to put too many people in the best tier, so he doesn't make the cut. I think the 3 in god tier are all better than him)

    • @bridge4
      @bridge4  6 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Great post! Look forward to chatting over time and hearing more of your ideas. Thank you for taking the time to share this with everyone.
      I haven't thought specifically through every character yet, but generally speaking, I like your rankings, and more importantly, the train of thought behind it
      And I'm totally with ya on eddard being bad, with the exception being, tier 5 is probably still in the top 1% of humans (instead of top 20%), since most have never even held a weapon let alone trained with one.
      But even so, there's a big difference between a ned and a Selmy. So my bad for nit-picking. We're on the same page with that :)

    • @newpgaston6891
      @newpgaston6891 6 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Yup there's a big difference between the tiers. This is one thing I used when I hesitated to place someone on this or that tier; I asked myself if he could beat everyone from the tier below. Everyone in a tier is better than everyone in the tier(s) below him.
      The only pairing I'm not too sure about is Bronn vs Sandor... Which makes me wonder if I should've moved Sandor up in God tier after all, or keep Bronn in the 2nd tier. But I'm pretty confident in Bronn vs anyone else in tier 2, so maybe Sandor really belongs in tier 1.
      Anyway, it's fun to theorize on that stuff!

    • @bridge4
      @bridge4  6 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      I see them both as tier 2, which I look at as the most legit bad assess. I guess I sort of save tier 1 in my head for the type that I see is being tropish in a way
      Jaime for example. A lot of fans don't give him enough credit. My understanding is that grrm intended for readers to look at Jaime as the current best, and at the same level as the best of each generation.
      But I'm not gonna lie, bron s3 a wildcard. I can't argue anyone who says he's tier 1, especially since the actor brings the character to life so well.
      And sander is one of my favorite characters, so I sometimes toil with hi being tier 1. But I like to hold him back to tier 2 on principle for what tier 1 stands for in my weird lil head
      But then recently I did a syrio. And I said tier 1, which almost messes everything up. Bc I would bet on a bunch of people whom I'm a fan boy of over syrio. Like qhorin. And sandor. Yet I have them as tier 2 lol
      Side note, I liked how u gave sandr the edge over gregor. I'm totally with u on that.
      I haven't truly3 brainstormed gregor yet, but I've always envisioned him as tier 2 with sandor, despite giving sandor the edge (since I look at each tier as a bandwith)
      And don't kill me but for now,I've got Bobby B and his warhammer as tier 1
      And Ive got garland ad greatjon switched with ya. But then again, that makes me wonder if I need to bump gregor down to 3 or greatjon up to 2, bc I see them as a pretty even fight
      Lol three tiers would be cake. 5 makes it harder. But it opens up better discussions with 5 tiers :))

    • @newpgaston6891
      @newpgaston6891 6 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      I'm sure many would put Robert in tier 1. But I'm not too sure myself. We don't have that much information that doesn't come from himself on his fighting skills. Yes he's big, yes he's strong, but other big/strong fighters are in the story and they don't even make the top 5 tiers, let alone the first tier.
      He won every battle(but one) but that's not just Robert, that's his army.
      He defeated Rhaegar 1v1, but while some people would rank Rhaegar really high, I only ranked him on tier 4, I don't think he's that great compared to the elite. So defeating him doesn't mean as much.
      I can totally see why people would put Robert in tier 1, but I personally think we lack a lot of solid information about his fighting skills, to know for sure. I think he really well might be Gregor Clegane, minus the cruelty.
      And the thing is that to compare him with the other people I have in tier 1... I'm sure they would all destroy him, he's not on par with the likes of Selmy and Jaime imho. And sure that doesn't mean he's not tier 1, he could be the worst in the tier 1, but even comparing him against the tier 2 people... I'm sure Sandor Clegane would beat him. Oberyn too, probably. Qhorin/Mance/Greatjon/Blackfish, maybe. Even fights. I think he's falling short of tier 1 in that regards.
      As for the Greatjon and Garlan, well we know Garland fights vs 3 and 4 opponents in the training yards to practice... But so does Jon Snow, and he's not anywhere near elite. And it's just training. The Greatjon was hammered drunked in the Red Wedding, and it still took half a dozen men to capture him. He's also ridiculously strong, like in taht scene where he's mad at Robb Stark and someone (Hal?) interfere but the Greatjon throws him away like he was a child.
      I could see them both on the same tiers though.
      But I give a few more points to actual veteran warriors, over (to quote Catelyn) "The knights of summer", who train in the yard and joust and fight in melees, but don't fight in battles.
      Sure Garlan fought in at least one battle we know of, at the Blackwater... But Stannis forces were massively outnumbered after the wildfire, and they took them in the back. We don't really know how much actual fighting Garlan did.
      Did he fight 3-4 opponent at once there too? Or did he just ride down a routed army, cutting down soldiers try to flee?
      Yes 3 tiers would be easier to place, but there would be a great difference in skill among the same tiers then! You would have Selmy with Blackfish, Thoros with Eddard Stark... Wouldn't tell much!

    • @ZhaoPao
      @ZhaoPao 6 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Well we don't really see him fight, but if we can assume he is better than Arya (since he trained her), who had no trouble fighting Brienne, then we can probably put him in tier 3 or maybe even 2. If we are considering talent with a blade, then tier 3 seems best. But if we consider his assassin abilities being used in a one on one, he could likely also kill someone with a dart before they got a swing in (kind of like he did to Amory Lorch in S2). So that could put him in tier 2

    • @bridge4

      Mance - I want to put him in tier 1, but I just don't think we have enough info on him to put him there. After all, tier one is a special place. We know he fd up all the warriors up north. We know he mollywoped "book John" in the training yard. The way he's described using that 2 handed great sword def speaks volumes. Especially at his age. There's gotta be more reasons to put him up high, but we lack info. I guess tier 2 based off of that. Maybe you can find the info needed.

    Quite a interesting video. I never thought about Halfhand being a great fighter or even being Arthur Dane. If he is Dane then he would be 1 tier without question and any lower would be a crime. But if he isn't and just himself as presented in the show/book I would put him at tier 2 for his feats of survived beyond the wall like a casual camping trip and be the most feared Crow to the wildlings.

    When we talk about Tier 1 to Tier 5, rank the fighters according to book not the show. Arthur Dayne is a Tier 1, Stannis a Tier 5, he may have proven himself in battle in the show, but in the books he’s a strategist and a good fighter, but not higher than Tier 5. Same for Eddard, he’s not the level of a Tier 3, maximum 4. Jon would be a Tier 3 , the Mountain would be Tier 3. Other fighters like Khal Drogo, Oberyn Martel or members of the Targaryen Kingsguard such as Oswell Whent would be Tier 2. But Barristan, Arthur, Jaime, Qhorin and Gerold Hightower (in his prime) would be Tier 1.
    And of course, Sam the Slayer, Hotpie and Robin Arryn are the top 3 in Tier 1.

      i agree with most. where do you see Sandor?

    • @bridge4
      @bridge4  5 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      and where do you see Syrio. in this series, the latest video is syrio and i foolishly put him as 1. im going to drop him to 2 or even 3 once i get to the next person (cause he wasnt even the best in a single city - braavos - and that was 9 years ago. i guess ignore that last point since im analazying it based on the fighters in their primes)
      but yeah, id say 2, or maybe even 3. i want to say three but i feel like people are going to flip out. but at the end of the day, im with ya on people like book ned and book stannis being 4 or 5 (and they are legit). no shame in being a tier 5 fighter since all 5 tiers are the top 1% of 1% of people in the word (jsut a guess. havent done the math)

    • @barathrum3107
      @barathrum3107 5 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      bridge4 I thought about Sandor and I would see him at his brother’s level, at Tier 3. Because he’s better than (for eg) Eddard but not better than Oberyn Martel.

    • @barathrum3107
      @barathrum3107 5 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      bridge4 Ahahaha yea that last part you said is true, even a Tier 5 is a great thing. For Syrio I don’t think he would be a Tier 1, I’m following you here with Tier 2 or the best one in Tier 3.
      And I almost forgot, Robert Baratheon in his prime is hard to rank. He’s better and stronger than the Mountain, but I don’t think he would stand a chance against Barristan or Gerold. So I suppose he would be in Tier 2, or like Syrio one of the best in Tier 3.
      But again, if we rank Robert Tier 2 Syrio would be Tier 2 too, because Syrio is swift and cuts through parts you don’t imagine, and Robert looks brutal like Gregor, it would be the same type of fight as the Mountain that rides vs the Red Viper of Dorne. So it’s hard to rank those two, since they could be better than Gregor or Sandor or even Jon Snow but they can’t be better than Jaime or Qhorin, or a serious Oberyn, who fights to kill and not to hear a confess (fookin idiot Oberyn).

    • @bridge4
      @bridge4  5 ปีที่แล้ว +5

      most people seem to give the mountain an edge. but i made a short video recently explaining why i think Sandor was slightly better than the Mountain. basically, his brother was going all out when they fought. and Eddard notices that Sandor didnt aim a single blow at the Mountains helmless head
      but with that said, i'd probably put them in the same tier, be that 2 or 3. i need to probably map out an idea of everyone before i do another character so that i dont have to keep moving people around
      but even if they are same tier 3 (which is a bandwith), do you give mountain or sandor a slight edge?

    Yo Bridge4 - If you wanna see an interesting theory - have a look at some of the videos from Order of the Green Hand. Their theory (mind you my book knowledge is limited only to youtube snippets so I can't really validate their work) is that Mance is Arthur Dayne and Qhorin was either Oswell Whence or Gerold HIghtower. But have a look, really interesting stuff.

      Depends. People are likely more known by name and reputation than face in this world, not like they have photos. He is also stripped of everything if he joins the Watch so it wouldn't matter who he used to be anyway, like almost-king-of-Westoros Aemon. Mountain and Tyrion are easily noted by their size, but most others travel with banners so you can deduce who is who, especially if you see them multiple times. Unless someone happened to have met him they might not know him, especially if he isn't carrying the sword that probably makes him stand out.

    • @55bueller
      @55bueller 6 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      bridge4 I'm not sure if you have a name for all the tiers but I'd put Arya in legendary tier. Meaning what she has done so far and what she will do will become the stuff of legends. So far her Kill count is exactly 63 and yes I counted it all. For a 17 year old girl she has amazing skill and already done some truly amazing stuff warrior wise!

    • @bridge4
      @bridge4  6 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      +Pelé the Ranidae that's what I'm thinking too. I don't buy the whole arya is better than brienne thing either. Arya trained alot. And she's badass. But I still think people like sandor, brienne, thoros, show jon, would smash her. Even peoppe like greatjon if he was still alive

    • @bridge4
      @bridge4  6 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      +55bueller legend in terms of leaving a legend could be different than a tier called "legend" tho. I'm sure I'll get hate for this, but I'm just not as keen on her as other make her out to be. But making the list at all is an accomplishment. Right now I am visualizing people like book Stannis and book ned. In tiers 4 or 5. So even if she's one of those, it stI'll means she's badass. But as good as bronn? Probably not

    • @Mr10stiches
      @Mr10stiches 6 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      It may be tricky putting her in a tier, as she is more nimble and swift than brute force like other fighters, but may be just based on skill levels I would put her on a Tier 3 or even better (you Kev can do a much better assessment). For this reason alone I'm so psyched to see how she fares against likes of Jon Snow.

      Plz answer this question.which tier will rheghar tagaryan and Robert baratheon go in?
      Because in the show I saw them talking about how rheghar defeated selmy in the tourney of harenhaul (I am not sure if it was sword fighting or jousting tournament they were talking about)and placed some flower in lyana's lap rather than his wife so he was better than selmy but Robert killed rheghar in the rebellion so does this mean these 2 are tier 1 fighters?i think they might be.atleast Robert should be tier 1(I am talking about fighting skills and not sword fighting skill as I think Robert used a hammer type weapon rather than swords in fights).

      Rhaegar isn't close to selmy with a sword. That was joust and it was rhaegars only tourney win iirc. Similar to jorah and his wife. They leveraged powers older and stronger than hatred - love
      But barrister was a more proven jouster, aND much better with a sword. Rhaegar was more of a renaissance man. Capablexand very good at almost everything, including song. But not the best fighter

Well something like that fire and blood and all. I am watching the rubies 👀😁 great video as always Qhorin and Mance Both make me wonder... I have thought this same thing. That the KG never died at the ToJ. That's why Ned remember their faces but not others he said that btw Ned did. So why can he still remember them if he hasn't seen them. I think they been All there close to protect Jon. This could be why Ned didn't object to Jon joining the Night's Watch. He knew His KG was closer and even Aemon oh definitely believe he knew Exactly who Jon is. Rubies. All thanks to rubies. But up there. Who would recognize them. Prefect place to lay low too. • @GhalibMalik

    I think he is definitely underrated. It is still hard to tell that where he would stack up as compared to others because there is not much of a legend about him as it is about Selmy or Dayne or even Jamie in Westeros (Yes, the Wildlings would rank him higher but you know how underrated the Night's Watch is. And probably all his great deeds have been beyond the Wall so.... Spending the entire winter beyond the Wall does tell you that he was tough, but it still doesn't imply that he was as good as anyone. Nevertheless, an excellent swordsman, a determined and tough one.

Sometimes he'll leave you with a question, and then 10 pages later he'll be like 'oh and by the way, that plot hole you thought I left, well I didn't forget about it'. Not to mention, to be able to write such long books without it becoming tedious. Definitely more skilled than Robert Jordan ever was.

  • @timfriday9106
    @timfriday9106 5 ปีที่แล้ว

    I really like the idea that halfhand could have been Dayne. I want to try to reconcile that with what we saw in the show. Or if maybe, the show decided to take that subplot a different route. What I really like is the idea you mentioned before that Ned was honorable, and looked genuinely heartbroken that his bannerman stabbed him in the back(neck) etc. Maybe, the idea ser aurther dayne survived this blow is possible. Maybe, because ned felt bad about how he got done so dirty, Ned offered him to say he died, and let him live out his days, protecting the realm, at the wall. I feel like that would absolutely appeal to him, esp if he knew the truth of jons heritage but saw the way the war was going against his lord anyway. Aceepted his defeat and retreated to the wall. or maybe he wasn't fully healed till after the war was over and thought vengence wasn't valuable use of his time etc. Because, I really like the idea that Dawn, is somewhere, where jon can get to it, or it can be given to him, or where he can find it. It's the most unique sword in ASoFI and it would do a disservice to the uniqueness of the sword if it wasn't therefore, super important. I like your theory it could have been formed from a fallen starK. And I want that to be true too. So then Jon wields it, being the first stark to hold it since it was created from an ancestor. Like, there's just so much coolness to the idea that Jon having dawn and the idea that it made it up to the wall, where jon ends up, and where dayne then sacrifcies his life for jon, for arguably a second time, just puts such a neat bow on the whole story of jon. Maybe it can even be from bran intervention. Mabye bran sees how important dawn is to the endgame and somehow intervenes so that dayne survives. God I love falling down these rabbit holes. AND, it makes me even MORE excited for after the show is over to see how much the show and remaining books differ. =D
