      Stop describing MY LIFE! lol Really great analysis, Ilove the Hound, connect with him on many ways. I have a sole sibling, older brother, we have always been day and night different but being half japanese growing up on the super White priairies and both having a presence when we enter a room people always confused us. We are alike in many ways and I prefer to look intimidating to keep especially the nasty kinds of folks away.
      Honestly its haunting how similar our paths are. I'm the deeply sensitive one my bro is the selfish dick and always will be and always used his slightly bigger stature to intimidate me but recently I've truly felt like I can move on having been the one to make the first moves and really do feel more pity for him than genuine hate. I can't stand him as I know who his core is and it. And of course my Bro is no where near as horrible as the Mountain nor am I as bad ass as the Hound and I've met worse pricks than my Bro as well that put things into perspective a bit.
      So I see a LOT of myself in Sandor Clegane....

      But I was wrong for a good reason. I envisioned a fairytalez and game of thrones has never bee. A fairytale. Not overcoming his hate is powerful. It keeps the story true to being more "real" than most fantasy stories :))

      Also, it can be argued that he went down the darker path to save Arya from the path he had already traveled. It is still heroic, he sacrificed himself to provide her with a better life.

    • @johnwilkinson1096
      @johnwilkinson1096 3 ปีที่แล้ว +5

      @Apathetic Apparition the point is he is already lost, and that he can save her by bringing justice to her without her being lost herself. If you pay attention to the hound he has resigned to being damned so he prevents her damnation. It is a flawed argument but that is an aspect of grey characters that grrm likes to explore and honestly more resonant to the real world. Black and white decisions are very rare in life. You can disagree with his decision but not his reason from his perspective. He was one of my favorite characters because he was a tortured soul which is I think why he couldn't walk away. He knew his mistakes and his action to bring her justice in her place kept her from making the same mistakes he had. That is the best I can portray the decision.

      I think for all his personal growth, He was still and would always be big fucker with a big grudge. Left behind his hate? Gregor IS his hate. Gregor is every evil man without punishment, every injustice covered by the title "Ser". That hatred would never leave.

      No it's not! Had it not been for the Hound, Arya would most certainly be dead. It was his kindness and the love he has for Arya that made him see the way ahead, which was to kill his brother, and die in the process, but not too allow Arya to go down with him! Arya is a tiny little thing, so if she had been with him when he found Cersi, The Mountain and Qyburn, he would most certainly have crushed Arya's skull in like he did to Oberyn, or throw her with enough force to break her skull open like he did to Qyburn. I was kind of wish that he would have killed Cersi himself. That would have been nice to see! Her skull crushed like Oberyn.

      These Show Theory episodes provide better story arcs and endings than those actual writers could've ever wished for.
      They could've literally copied them, pin them on a bullseye board and throw a needle, then roll with that theory and would've had a more satisfying season finale.

    Sandor was inclined to protect
    little girls because of it. He refused knighthood because of what he saw knights doing. Like Brienne, he followed the Knight's Code better than official knights.
    I hope he survives King's Landing and returns North to serve Sansa.

      The hound was larger than most other men. He could be more violent and aggressive when necessary. He was kind, caring and was protective over the girls when he could be. Both girls lost their wolves on their way to Kingslanding, loosing what would've been the their last line of defense and keeping them safe when all hell broke loose.
      The Hound died a figurative death at the Battle of Blackwater and was reborn as a direwolf 😊

      It's actually difficult to write and play a "badass" character. Inexperienced people think it's little more than sulking in a dark corner, looking brooding and throwing out try-hard threats at everyone. But The Hound doesn't need all that, everyone just intrinsically knows he is not someone to be fucked with. His reputation says it all, everyone that has fucked with him, except one, is dead.

    My favourite character in game of thrones. He was a broken man who wasn’t bad nor good. He was the grey. He had his own sense of morality and saw the world how it was. Behind the burnt, killer bravado he put on, he was ultimately a fine man. He also had some brilliant lines and was a skilled warrior. His arc with Arya was personally my favourite because of their dynamic. Like you said in the video, people judge him without knowing him. The world turned its back on him so he turned his back on the world. What a great character and amazingly cast

Outside of King's Landing, he saw what could be beautiful and meaningful. He is a great character!

    Sandor is The Woodsman in this story - they even put an axe in his hands to make sure we got the reference. People tend to forget that the first Woodsman in fairy stories was the one sent to kill Snow White on the orders of the Evil Queen. Most versions miss out that he died horribly for saving Snow when the queen found out she was still alive. In all the stories though, the Woodsman's role is to be in the right place at the right time to save the day. I'm sure Sandor will not let us down.
    As for the Mountain, I think killing him holds almost no story interest. If people want to see two huge dudes fight each other, may I recommend Conan The Barbarian. This story would be better served by another turn-around. Not the Hound returning to his bloody ways, but perhaps the Mountain giving his unlife to save his brother. The Mountain has also been horribly disfigured, and is the mute instrument of Cercei. We have no way of knowing what he thinks and feels. He could be in constant agony like Vader. He might have been screaming at his brother to save him from inside his flesh-prison. He could have been delighted that his brother has survived. I'm kinda hoping he gets a chance to be more than just a two-dimensional villain.

      Grrm is a wizard. As well as everyone involved in the show, from directors, to actors, to Ramin djawadi. We are so lucky to have experienced this.
      It blows my mind when I hear friends say they still haven't tried the show lol

    I'm hoping Sandor makes it to the end. His story arc has been one of the best on the show. If he doesn't it will probably be that he dies protecting one of the Stark girls. I couldn't agree more about that. Good video! I really enjoyed it!!!

    The Hound is so much more interesting than I gave him credit for. I mean, I’ve seen his journey through the seasons like anyone else, but seeing it displayed is such a short space of time exaggerates the progress he’s made, I guess.
    Also, I haven’t thought Sandor would kill his brother since 7x07. “You know who’s coming for you. You’ve always known.” He definitely didn’t sound like he meant himself.

    • @bridge4
      @bridge4  6 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      A lot of people interpret it as a personal threat. But I'm with ya. Plenty of other ways to say it if he wanted to threaten him

      bridge4 I won’t lie. I’ll admit, initially I did think about ways that he could be referring to himself (I really wanted Cleganebowl to happen), but in the end, I conceded that a third party was the only answer. It just wouldn’t make sense otherwise, if you ask me.

    • @bridge4
      @bridge4  6 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Same here. It comes across as a personal 1 on 2 thread at first because that's what we expected/wanted
      But if we step back, he's hot really saying that (or so it seems)

    Sandor Clegane is easily one of my favorite characters and this was a brilliant video. The interactions between Arya and Sandor throughout their journey I believe helped mold Sandor’s redemption and also Arya’s hard killer instinct demeanor
    One of the best scenes was when Arya was playing the game of faces with Jaqen H’gar and if he caught one of her lies he would strike her with a switch. She exclaims that wanted the hound dead and that she hated him and Jaqen hits her and she continues to say that she hated him and every time she says it she gets struck realizing that her stating she hated him was a lie.
    I’m very much looking forward to their reunion.

    • @bridge4
      @bridge4  5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      that scene was gnarly. very good tribute to the books. bc her head thinks she hates him, but her heart knows she loves him =))
      thank you btw

    Kev...such a great melancholic video for such a great /badass/tragic character ..I love Sandor and i would like to see him wielding a badass fiery sword..protecting Arya in S8...The real heroes according to Davos [my badass voice of logic in GOT]they not sacrificing their loved ones ..but they sacrificing themselves for to save their loved ones ..and then you have Sandor Clegane ..who is 100% of what Davos describes as a real hero in the books.

      But Sandor didn’t protect anyone. He could have went with Arya and possibly helped. On Thrones he fought just to fight and that isn’t him anymore. In the books we will not be fan serviced with a betrayal of the story.

    This is a great theory! I really hope that the writers go this way, because you're so right: Sandor's character arc would be epic if he overcame his past and found something much more important to live for in the future. Cleganebowl would be a step back.

    Omg this video is amazing, its really beautiful to see how much he has grown through the story. I've personally always wanted to see the clegane bow in this final season, but after watching your video, it turns out to be a completely pointless fight. Thank you for that conclusion! Awesome analysis as always

    • @bridge4

      my bet now is that we are going to see it, and Sandor loses that fight :*(

    Wow! You’re cranking out the GOT videos this week! Thank you. I enjoyed your insight into Sandor’s psyche. I’ve felt this way about him ever since my re-watch of the series a couple months ago. There are people who I think are more important than we realize. Sandor, qyburn, Varys, Gilly, Little Sam, etc... Gilly grew up north of the wall. Her mom called the Wight Walkers Lil’ Sam’s “big brothers”. I think Gilly knows more about them than anyone but no one is asking her. But, I won’t hijack the comment section to unload countless gut feelings. Actually, I gotta head head over to the video you posted the other day about dragonglass. ;-) I saw something there that seemed ... like a forgotten history and wanted to run it by you. Keep up the good work! I’m tossing around the idea of making my own theory videos soon so I’m taking lots of notes. Thanks again!

    Kev, awesome video. You covered so much in so little time, you covered it perfectly where there is really nothing to add except praise for a job well done. I very much agree with you, if he fights his brother, it will only be done for fan service. I think he is still living for a greater purpose right now, and I believe he will eventually die but he will do it in a honorable way (Protecting a Stark). I do think Arya will kill the mountain. AND maybe she uses his face to kill Cersei. For some reason I think the show will give us Cleganebowl, but the book will not, since D&D will do what the fans really want. Can't wait for the follow up video to this.
