- Hundreds of people standing in line at San Jose's Burger Pit are saying goodbye to the San Jose classic. The restaurant chain is shutting down it's last restaurant after over 70 years in business. We spoke with the restaurant owner and his dedicated customers on the second to last day.

I worked at different Burger Pit locations and for the Bergers for 16 years. Great place! Great family! Enjoy your retirement Paul.
My dad's favorite. If we kids were good, we'd get a trip to the Burger Pit.
Maybe in the future, there won't be any more businesses in California, and everyone can be given a slice of bread, a can of bugs, and a bucket of reclaimed water.
And you wonder why nobody invites you to parties.

Founders retire all the time; if the business is still profitable it'll stay open with someone else in charge. By far the most common outcome when a founder retires is they sell the place to fund their retirement.
