- An elderly Oakland man is pleading for the return of his antique Corvette after thieves stole the vehicle from his home's garage.

The fact of the matter is, that gorgeous Corvette is sitting in a shipping container in Long Beach, waiting for the next boat to the middle east. Feel so bad for the guy.
I doubt it. It was probably disassembled, and the parts sold for drugs.

Oh it is not, its already been stripped down and the parts put onto another frame that was basically in need of a very expensive total restoration which is now very cheap and will be a legal car with a new paint job being shown at car shows, probably in Cali!

The next thing insurance companies won't be insuring cars in Oakland. The other day a guy tracked his stolen truck to Oakland. He waited for hours for the police to show up.
I’ve been in Cali 9 years. I live just outside Oakland and here’s my car history, 2004 Silverado broken into several times then stole it, bought a 2012 Silverado hit and run, totaled, 2020 Silverado broken into once, robbed the contents of my tool box then, while trying to steal gas lit my truck on fire, totaled. Lost about $15,000 in that deal. State Farm low balled me and I refused to sign on the settlement.
I want to leave Cali so bad ! Houses unaffordable, taxed for EVERYTHING we do, gas prices double compared to anywhere else, it’s a joke.

Ah man. That's my neighbor. He's super nice and keeps the corners clean. There was a homeless man that would keep the corner clean and he helped him get a trailer to live in. This area is nice but we do have alot of thieves that come around to steal.

I feel bad for the guy, but the reality is that what happened here does represent the values of Oakland as a whole. Oakland does not want consequences for property theft. Even he said it himself "there are no consequences, in this city, they can steal and rob."

in 2022 my Tahoe got stolen in Oakland and I located it the next morning with the help of an air tag. I called 911 several times over the next few days and was given the same story "too busy to assist with a stolen property case." I have clear video footage of the theft and know exactly where the criminal lives. After an entire week of calling 911 daily, I finally took my spare set of keys and stole the car back out of the criminal's garage. I called 911 a final time to say I wanted to do a police report and that I wanted to press charges. They gave me a number to call. I called an left several messages...no reply. The criminal got away with it because the police and prosecutors are worthless.
Here's the best part of the story.... I get a knock at the door 2 months after all this. It's the police. They asked if I broke into this guys garage, and I said yes and told them the whole story. Well apparently the thief said I damaged his garage when jacking it open . The Police charged me with TRESPASSING! I went to court and the judge had a stern talking to me and did not care at all that I was recovering my own property. The judge said i'm lucky to not get thrown in jail. The judge is making me pay monthly payments of restitution to the thief for the apparent damages to the garage. To this day the thief has still not been charged because they have no evidence that the thief was ever in possession of my car...because they refused to investigate it in the first place.

I would have called the insurance company. They may have sent a repo guy out to get it rather than pay your claim. I suppose you probably need a police report to make an insurance claim though....

Feel for the guy, he is not just some rich guy that couldn't change his oil to save his life. I drive manuals only, always say my car could never get taken, guess I was wrong. I park inside a garage too. That thing could be on the ocean already inside a shipping container headed to Russia or Africa. It would be hard to sell here. Not necessarily. That old of a car had very few VIN numbers on it. So the parts would all be clean and safe to sell in the US.

As a vintage car enthusiast/owner I can only imagine what this man’s is going through, even with a insurance settlement it’s the time and love we put into restoring our babies that you can’t replace… I pray this man somehow gets his 59 Corvette back 🙏🏾

I don't think the usuals even know how to drive a stick shift assuming that's what this Corvette is. This was probably done by some shady guys from the car show.
1000 percent. They knew exactly what was in the garage before they showed up. Most likely followed him home from a car show and had an overseas buyer for the car being they even layed hands on it.

The car is already stripped and parted out. Very sad - even tragic for this man. He's likely a very good man, and has lived through so much; but he was betrayed by a culture and shift in our society - from goodness to . . . We might easily say that the car is "just" a material piece of property and insurance will cover it, but nothing will replace the portion of his heart that's been ripped out. He'll likely die of a broken heart within 12 months.

This should be a lesson for everyone to think twice before electing their Mayor, its appaling to see the current state of Oakland which seems to be going on the right path few years ago that went down in the drain so fast, that it would become irreversible if genuine citizens wont wake up and do something within their power (electing someone who makes sense).
