Teleprompter for Webcams

- Attach a teleprompter to your computer screen and use your webcam. UNFORTUNATELY, this teleprompter is no longer available, but this one is: bit.ly/2w8l0i4. This is more expensive than the Glide Gear TMP-WB Solo, but it's the only thing available now.

This device allows you to project your script (using something like cueprompter.com) in front of your webcam. This works well for teleprompting, but the mirror isn't bright enough to reflect an image (which is ideal for video calls.)

Another great video. One added tip, with most webcams, especially the C920's, its best to turn off auto focus. On Mac I use a program called webcam settings.
Yes - I use Logitech Gaming Software, but I also have Webcam settings. I think it's always best to turn off auto focus (unless you intend to hold something up really close to the lens.)
Music Gear Network, cld you pls explain how you get the C920 to actually work with Mac? I’ve spent hours and hours trying everything and it won’t work with my Mac! Going mad here. Tks in advance

Yes! Great idea. Otherwise the text starts right at the top of the screen and you need to talk fast to catch up!

Thanks Brighton for this video! I'm actually working on a project now with a client for an virtual event. We used SpeakFlow last year, kind of work. Not if you tested. Recommending prompt smart as I just used, but we to narrow the scope to setup an iPad with Glide Gear as one option for host to read script. Webcam would need to be housed in prompter setup, so wondered on the over the monitor option vs normal prompter setup. Any feedback would be great !
I think the separate teleprompter (Glide Gear TMP500) with an external webcam is the best system. But it's also the most expensive way to do it.

Do you have a video on how to set up the Logitech (with the screw in the bottom) with a tripod with caddy buddy AND be able to make zoom webinars seeing the pc screen right below the webcam? I can't quite get this right.
Thanks for this! I mainly use my laptop for my recordings and on occasion a teleprompter would be a time saver. I've looked at so many teleprompter ideas but they are way too expensive or too DIY for my abilities. This one isn't offered on Amazon anymore but I found the Glide online for about $60. I'm keeping my fingers crossed this will help on the those times I need to get the lines out when time is of the essence!
I'm glad you found a Glide Gear teleprompter online. $60 sounds a bit low, so make sure it's the right one. Glide Gear replaced this model with one that requires an iPhone to scroll your script. Hey Brighton - I have a Logitech C920 and it seems this is the perfect thing I have been looking for! Unfortunately it is unavailable on Amazon - any substitutes?
The company replaced it with the TMP75, which doesn't work exactly the same. You can see my review here (which includes my favorite setup with a c920 at the end of the video.) Very informative video, thanks. I completely agree that I wouldn't want the metal frame resting against my screen, how difficult would it be to add some sticky-back felt to the frame? I think that would do a decent job of protecting the screen.
That would be easy. I had mine out the other day and was thinking that exact thing. I know this model has been discontinued but I think they are still available on the Internet.

Hello Brighton! Thank you so much for all these amazing videos on teleprompters. I am new to this and was wondering if it's possible to read the script and also see other people in the mirror at the same time using the teleprompter. If so, would you still recommend Bodelin? This is for an external webcam attached to my laptop. Thank you!
I think this mirror is too small to see more than just a script or a couple people. Even a setup with a bigger mirror like tue Caddie Buddy would be a challenge.

The c922 has a screw hole in the bottom so you can put it into the Caddie Buddy teleprompter - I've done that a number of times. You just can't use your monitor as the teleprompter (unless you get the one I mention in this video.)
Sadly the C920pro webcam doesn’t work with MAC. They’ve falsely advertised this. Could you please cover this? Ppl need to know. I’ve spent a fortune purchasing one, nope. Does not work with MAC. Hundreds of others have the same complaint and trying to get hold of them for support is hopeless. Their robot assistant gives u a ticket number! Oh joy.... can you shed light on this please? I spent over 4 hours trying to install it, it won’t work!! I’m so angry to put it mildly. Tks
I use a c920 with my iMac every day. And I also use it with my MacBook Pro. What problem are you experiencing?

Hello. Can you tell me how you manage your audio/sound when the teleprompter is masking the webcam?
Great point. This teleprompter is mounted on your screen and the microphones are usually not near the camera. But if you are using an external webcam, you could have a problem. You can change to use your built in microphone instead of the external one. Or you can buy a separate microphone like one of these: amzn.to/1psQLJV or amzn.to/2yjZSTt
@@brightonwestvideo Brighton just looking at the lavalier mic you linked to... where would you plug that Lav into? Most cameras (even if using an external webcam for a traditional teleprompter) dont support that particular type of plug. Perhaps a lav mic with a USB plug might work . Thanks

@@brightonwestvideo I built my own with some plywood, a couple of hand mirrors and the glass from a picture frame from the dollar store. Its not the best, but it works. Havent shot a video yet, trying to get my set up right. Thanks for the video, without it, i wouldn't have been able to do it.

Yeah, there was a cheaper version, but the manufacturer discontinued it :-(
