    And English not being your native language; you speak it damn well and you have perfect mannerisms and little nuance of conversation you seem to understand so well that is so cool!!!
    This was an AMAZING production. I just bought this and have been looking at a ton of reviews that are so much more about the presenter at their channel or “gang” or “club” or whatever!
    This was all about the drone; that’s what I came for.

    Cool vid! I just purchased one but am having some trouble with the RSSI. The connection drops to 0 seemingly way to often where I can't reliably fly 50+ feet away from the controller without the motors stopping (failsafe when the drone looses connection). I'm using a Taranis X9 Lite

    • @FPVtips
      @FPVtips  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Thanks! Unfortunately short range on those built in receivers is a thing and you won't be able to get very far out. You might want to consider upgrading to an XM+ receiver (lightweight, small, cheap, but full range).
      The connection also depends on your surroundings among other factors and you will get better results in open areas, compared to more dense areas (like parks and buildings).
      While many times I've had warnings about signal strength I've never dropped out of the sky because of connection loss. So if you haven't, I highly recommend setting up voice announced warnings on your radio, so that if you hear your connection is getting poor, you can simply turn around before it's too late. This works great for me. Otherwise you could also try to mess around with the antenna's positioning and you might get some slightly better results, but I wouldn't expect mirracles. Happy flying!

    Great Review......what would be vtx /reciever range on clear run (no trees etc)

    • @FPVtips
      @FPVtips  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      In perfect conditions, say 20 - 30 meters off the ground on a clear field, you might get probably even 200-300 meters I'd assume (not 100% sure, double check it if you need exact values). But there usually are some obstacles, we do fly lower to the ground so I'd say in general up to 150-200 meters max. Also the SPI receiver is the limiting factor here.

    • @FPVtips
      @FPVtips  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      It's similar to this one - bit.ly/1s-board . I like it as it shows battery voltages, allows for charging up to 6 and can accept an XT60 so you can charge your smaller batteries with a 4S or a 6S bigger battery. It does what it should well enough for me, there's certainly even fancier versions if you're into that.

      If for whatever reason it may seem the configuration is completely bricked, I would try to identify (from the manufacturer's site perhaps) what version of Betaflight it comes with stock. You want to flash that with the full chip erase option selected. Then, try to find a dump files of the full config - again the manufacturer's site could be the place to look at. At that point you should be in a stable state again. If that fails too, I'd suggest asking in the Facebook group as there is a solid chance someone might have a similar issue.

      I don't remember the voltage specs for the Flight controller and ESC's from the top of my head, but definitely check those first. I have a feeling that this quad won't be able to take 3S voltage. If it would work without burning the board, next thing you have to think about is motor KV, the more you go higher in battery cells, the lower the KV of the motor you wanna go (with some caveats).

    • @FPVtips
      @FPVtips  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      I started with the Wizard, but there weren't such nice toothpicks back then. I would easily recommend something like the Tinyhawk Freestyle though, because it's a ton safer, you are gonna break a lot less stuff in crashes and you will still get 90% of the experience of flying a drone. I still recommend you do 5 inch drones eventually but starting like this is VERY viable. Not to mention if you buy this, you only need to buy some batteries. If you buy the wizard, you will need batteries, but also to change the props and to consider changing the camera as soon as possible.

    Hi great video but you forgot about the CLI dump before you bind the transmitter as mine wouldn't bind as come from Emax they told me to download their CLI first then go to betaflight and copy onto tinyhawk fb!

    • @FPVtips
      @FPVtips  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Indeed, that's such a good point! In general everyone should save the stock CLI dump before doing any changes in Betaflight. I guess the reason why I don't bother is that I assume I can find the files online or even if I have an issue, I'll worst case scenario start from a clean flash version and go from there. It's not the end of the world, but indeed, takes 5 seconds to save your config and saves you hours or research and setup. Thanks for pointing that out :)

      You could. I think I keep mine as low as 1010 up to 1050. For this to be efficient though, you need to make sure that your top and bottom transmitted values are correct and fixed at 1000 and 2000 respectively. You can fine tune those on your radio's outputs screen or you can use a betaflight command in the CLI to set them.

    What radio can I use for this

    • @FPVtips
      @FPVtips  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Most any radio would do just fine, provided it can bind to the receiver of the version you chose. I've been using happily a Taranis X-Lite, but ofc there are tons of options out there.

      I've heard of methods using go pro's. I've never filmed thru the goggles myself, what you see is DVR - recording from the goggles, but not filmed with an external camera.

    What propeller goes where?

    • @FPVtips
      @FPVtips  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      That would depend if you're setup in props in or props out mode, but in general once you get the hang of it, it's quite straight forward. I've written about it in more detail here: blog.georgi-yanev.com/fpv/holybro-kopis2-hdv-with-dji-digital-fpv/#dji-setup (scroll down to the part where we start talking about how to put on the props)>. I hope that helps and let me know if you have any issues.

    I have been flying my EMAX Tinyhawk Freestyle for quite some time. I like the way it handles, how it flies, and the good fly times; I consistently get over 8 minutes on 2 GNB 600 mAh batteries. This is a very good "short" range quad. Both the built in Rx and the 25w Vtx limit the range. In my experience, the Rx range is about half that of an FrSky XM+ receiver. Within the range, it flies good. On the down side, the frame is a little weak. I don't fly hard yet still fractured one of the arm struts. I have repaired it and still flying, but just know it is a weak point. Fortunately, you can get all of the parts including frame. Additionally, you can get an RX/Vtx sled to upgrade the receiver and vtx. I get these parts from PyroDrone pyrodrone.com/

    • @FPVtips
      @FPVtips  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Nice, I should give higher mah batteries a go too, thanks for sharing. I've been thinking about upgrading to xm+ but as you mentioned the vtx is also a limiting factor and upgrading further might mean motor change as well.
      To be fair, as you said, for a short range quad, this is an awesome little fellow, so I just stick to that with it. I do enjoy having HD video though and longer range for some parks, but I'll be reviewing the GEPRC Skip3 HD soon for that, very excited!

      @harrytmurphy8438 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@FPVtips I believe the motors will hand the upgrade. Although you can upgrade without it, PyroDrone sells an Rx/Vtx sled for just such an upgrade. It mates directly to the FC and provides easier hookup of the additional boards. There are also videos on how to connect without the sled, but I believe that to be more challenging. Since I have other quads, I will likely just keep my TH Freestyle for short range proximity and acro flights. I do, however, have all of the replacement parts (complete quad unassembled) plus the sled. Have fun. Stay Safe.

      @@fastfreddy7111 I left mine on Frsky_D cause I have the older Taranis X-Lite without the ACCESS protocol, and as such D8 mode is fully supported. Technically, Frsky_X setting should be for D16, which is what you should use if you have the newer protocol. But I mean, if all else fails, give this a shot too. Good luck, mate!

    My quad will not arm even with trying different switches through beta flight, any way to troubleshoot?

    • @FPVtips
      @FPVtips  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Look in your goggles if Betaflight is flagging any arm preventing conditions (flags). Otherwise, if bound successfully, double check if the channel map is setup correctly in the Receiver tab, verify you have radio input there. Make sure your switches are setup correctly in your radio's Mixer screen too. Let me know if this helps :)

      @@FPVtipsEverything in my receiver tab is moving in the correct position. When I arm my tinyhawk freestyle and push the throttle up the motors will spin fast without following the throttle curve and then shut off.

    • @FPVtips
      @FPVtips  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@calebmorant932 It's normal when testing without props to have your motors spin up, even seemingly on their own. I'm puzzled by the shutting off. The tinyhawk is running dshot, so calibrating is out of the question. If you've tried flying safely outside and notice the issue is only at higher throttle values, does your quad fall out of the sky then or what? Could be an issue with the ESCs or a voltage with the board?

    • @calebmorant932
      @calebmorant932 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      When I push the throttle up the motors just spin and then two will shut off and then it'll just keep doing that until I disarm the quad.

    • @FPVtips
      @FPVtips  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@calebmorant932 You can swap out a motor that shuts down with a motor that doesn't. That will help you validate if it's the motors at fault, because if after the swap the same motors fail, it's them. If the failing motors don't fail on another slot, it's probably an ESC issue. We can still hope it's a solveable software issue, but sometimes hardware fails and getting a new all in one board is the best solution, not to mention the amount of time you'll save debugging stuff for about 30 bucks. Unless you are doing this for fun and learning, in which case carry on and have fun :)
