    This has been one of my favorite aircraft for some time now. Good indoors but runs great outdoors as well, super safe. Love to fly it outside on a windy gusty day, really fun. My dogs snatched it out of the air one too many times and broke the frame in multiple places, still flew fine, a little wonky. Can't be glued because it is made of something like Polypropylene. A new body only cost $10. For a while, I liked how it flew with the broken frame, made it even more fun on a windy day, all wobbly and stuff. Finally got tired of the instability and replaced the frame, a somewhat tedios process. Runs like brand new. I beat the daylights out of mine, really rugged. Just got the EMAX TH2 Freestyle. That little thing is a beast, amazing.

    • @OneManUnmanned
      @OneManUnmanned  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      The TH3 is definitely is a rugged beast of a drone. I've heard great things about the TinyHawk 2 Freestyle. I just reviewed a similar drone, the TinyApe Freestyle, and it seems to be a direct competitor to the TH2 Freestyle. That video should be coming out tomorrow. Check it out and let me know if there are any differences compared to yours. I would like to know, and maybe it could help other pilots in the buying process as well. Thanks!

    I bought this RTF based on your recommendation and love it. It's my daily flyer - no matter the weather. My dog loves it to, so we're already onto TH3 number three. Well, I bought two complete drones and number three from the first two plus spares. The video on using a TH3 frame to build an HDZ/ELRS is going on my list.

    Just got mine and I must say I am very impressed. Got the RTF because I'm still learning betaflight with my Fullspeed leader 120 build. I'm now trying to figure out how to unlock 200 on the vtx without betaflight.... This thing is so much more powerful than I thought a 1s could be. Got 525mah 80/160c lipo sticks and couldn't be happier. Love this one and an going to order the hawk freestyle next

      Yes, it's a good starter kit and the goggles are subjective, especially when it comes to focusing distance. As far as the break up, make sure you're at the maximum power of 200mw.

    Thanks for the video. Took mine for the first flights today. Lots of hovering. Trim seems weird like it wants to pull to the right. Not such a big deal when headed away but returning is really challenging. Is there a way to calibrate the controller to the drone?

    • @OneManUnmanned
      @OneManUnmanned  2 ปีที่แล้ว +6

      Thank you James...I think you can trim the drift out using the trim buttons. As far as calibrating the sticks, you have to press the L3 button(Left trim-left button) while powering on the radio. The power light will flash fast, then flash slowly. Once the light is flashing slowly, then you can calibrate the sticks(all gimbals) by moving them in their full travel each direction. Once you have moved the sticks in all full directions, then you press the L3 button again. The radio should reset and reboot. I'll live a link to the E8 manual for better clarity and instructions:

    I am a total newbie to the drone hobby and thanks to your reviews I bought the Tinyhawk 3 kit. The drone comes with the VTX set to 25mW. I noticed that you and most reviewers fly at 200mW. I tried changing the VTX from 25 to 200 in the monitor menu. After saving the change on the monitor menu, the VTX was still at 25mW. How exactly can I get this done? Do I use Betaflight or are there other steps required when using the monitor menu?

    • @OneManUnmanned
      @OneManUnmanned  2 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      I think some VTX comes locked from the factory(mine did not). To unlock it, you press the button on the VTX while powering up the drone.

  • @jcsmith725
    @jcsmith725 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    Thanks for the video. I just got the Tinyhawk 3 and for whatever reason the left stick up / down does nothing. If I give it left / right it tries to yaw on the floor. Right stick also triggers the motors. This has to be something stupid / silly that I'm missing. Any ideas? Eager to check this thing out.

    • @OneManUnmanned
      @OneManUnmanned  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      That sounds weird... Are you in crash/flip(turtle) mode? This mode allows you to flip the drone over after a crash. Usually only the right sticks widths in this mode. You can also confirm that all your radio sticks work by plugging your drone into Betaflight, go to the receiver tab, and check if you see stick movements from all channels.

    Hey nice videos, one question though, why is the video transmission popping in and out so much? For $170.00 I would hope the video reception would be better, or is it because of the beginning style goggles. Thanks.

    • @OneManUnmanned
      @OneManUnmanned  2 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      Very good question... Some other reviewers have noticed the same thing, but I do feel it's the nature of the beginner style goggles and more importantly the quality of the DVR. My reception in the goggles was not as bad shown by the DVR. Analog DVRs have a history of doing this and showing more interference than what's actually experienced in the actual goggles.

    • @OneManUnmanned
      @OneManUnmanned  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Understood... yeah, ELRS is pretty much the future. I don't know how long EMAX and its engineers worked on this kit. It could have been months before ELRS became popular. Then they would also need to develop a transmitter as well(more cost to them). I think it will eventually happen. I think BetaFPV is the only company with an official radio with built-in ELRS.

    Thanks for the video!! Sorry for the possible stupid question, but is it possible to upgrade the recording camera somehow? Thats the only thing that is stopping me from buying this set, the flickering is insane and ruins any video, even a video quality of just like a Tinygo 4k would make me feel better! Cheers

    • @OneManUnmanned
      @OneManUnmanned  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      You can change/ upgrade the camera on it, but the camera is not bad. Most of the flickering comes from the fact that these drones are equipped with an Analog video system. The DVR can also contribute to the flickering(especially with this goggle). Any analog drone including the TinyGo will have interference in the video feed. The TinyGo is special in the fact that it records a digital feed to an SD card independent of the Analog transmission system.

    • @marciodasilva8797
      @marciodasilva8797 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@OneManUnmanned Thanks for the reply! So basically i would need to buy a cam with a direct digital SD recording, or is it much more complicated than i am assuming? Im new to this and it's a pretty complex subject haha - Thank you!

    • @OneManUnmanned
      @OneManUnmanned  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Yes, it's more complicated than that. You can go for a digital system like DJI, HDZero, or WalkSnail to have clear image. You can also go for an analog system, with a split camera setup that sends a clear uninterrupted signal to an on-board DVR(examples are the TinyGo 4K or Mobula6 HD). I would recommend you do some research on digital vs analog transmission systems. There are benefits to both.

    • @OneManUnmanned
      @OneManUnmanned  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      It's difficult to answer this question, not knowing your prior experience level. FPV drones are different than camera drones and are particularly difficult to control at first, or with little experience. They have little to no automation, and everything (including hovering) has to be done by you, the pilot. I would highly recommend downloading a sim, and start practicing. It's cheap, you can experiment while flying, and will create a stress free / no jeopardy environment to learn. If you still want to fly instead, here's a video I found about learning to fly.

      @@OneManUnmanned That too is certainly possible. But at this time I do believe it was the re-pairing. Either way it is flying, and flying very well. I am at least 90% happy with my purchase. Now trying to get the controller to connect to my computer (2021 mac mini) for use with DRL. I even pulled out my good USB cables, from my Cell Phone engineering days, still no dice. so it looks like I need to buy a new ps4 controller to use with simulators. but if I am buying a new device to use simulators is there any merit in a "wireless USB simulator Dongle"? I would rather use my controller for the muscle memory.

      I don’t know if a wireless USB dongle will work.
      Ready Set Drone has made a video on how to get your E8 radio working on a computer. I think It’s more of a driver issue causing this not to work. I’ll leave the video linked below, although it’s demonstrated on a PC not a Mac.

    Please help! Emax tiny hawk 3 won’t arm or bind to controller

    • @OneManUnmanned
      @OneManUnmanned  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      I don't know exactly what you're experiencing, but there could be many things that may cause your drone not to arm. First thing to note is that your drone will not arm if the throttle is up. Throttle has to be at full idle(lowest position) to arm the TinyhawkIII. If your radio is in fact not bind to your drone, no radio switch or input will make the drone respond. Ready Set Drone made a great video showing how to bind the radio to the drone. I'll link it below. Hope it helps.

    • @OneManUnmanned

      You can literally use any drone on the market as long as it has a D8 or D16 receiver in it. There are not too many 2S drones on the market. The one that comes to mind is the Smart16 by GEPRC, but it’s a tiny drone. There is also the TinyHawk 2 Freestyle(and its 2S powered). Something like an Emax NanoHawk X would be a good drone for this kit(its also a 1S drone).

The video feed looks like a lightning storm. I don't know how you could fly through any gaps when the video is breaking up at least once per second.
    I'd buy this in a minute if it had a decent video feed.

    • @OneManUnmanned
      @OneManUnmanned  2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Yes, it's always a battle to keep it level. The pilot is practically doing everything. That's why is so amazing to see all these well flown fpv videos on TH-cam. Anything can make a drone drift, even a ceiling fan inside a house. Having said that, there are trim buttons on your remote to help with drift, but I would not recommend it as it's not normal practice to use trim in FPV. Last option would be to calibrate your gyro in the drone or the gimbals in your radio. Those rarely need to be done in an RTF kit though. I think with time, you'll get better on the sticks and not even notice "drone drift".

    • @OneManUnmanned
      @OneManUnmanned  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      These drones don't typically need to be adjusted in BetaFlight. Trims are not normally used in FPV drones. I would suggest you put the trims back to center then recalibrate your gyroscope/accelerometer in Betaflight. The drone needs to be in a flat/level surface when doing the recalibration.
