Thank you so much! I had to change the optical encoder (I bought a metal one instead, the plastic one broke). Once I replaced it, it wouldn't calibrate properly and I was totally stuck. Fine tunning the optical sensors is exactly what I was missing. It took me some trial and error but it finally works! By the way, it's important to fine tune both the transparent piece AND the black one. Cheers!
I have had my G27 apart so many times after failing to get calibration after replacing the encoder. I finally assembled the unit without the cover and tried aligning the optical sensors, and immediately connecting power then USB--still fails! Is there a light that is supposed to come out of the white optical sensor? I have no light showing.
I think my optical sensor board needs replacing, at the wheel is totally fine.. Im getting that everything works, but no steering and the power light flashing, not dim - where the power unit failing. I tried loads of reinstalling drivers etc. but think it the sensor itself - Anyone know where to buy one, as all i find it the wheel part for sale ? any help most welcome !!

How did you do this? I felt like I centered the wheel and reassembled properly but yeah it seems the encoding is failing.
My wheel stopped detecing rotation. Pushed the optical sensor a bit closer like you suggested in this video. And guess what! IT WORKED! Thanks :)

At 1:46 you can clearly see your plastic optical disk is cracked which makes 1 more hole to encoder, replacement would make it even better wheel
The optical disk is split in 3 equal parts that seem too perfect to be cracks, at least in my case. Just bending the sensor did the trick.
I have observed that although you do not have it split, the encoder wheel is cracked to the naked eye.

This isn't what im looking for. Everytime I steer my wheel, it goes right back to the middle and I dont know how to make it stop doing that
The wheel, and left collaborated and are going on tour next summer.
