  • Can I break 95? - EVERY SHOT IN 21 MINUTES
A round of spring golf at Conwy golf club in North Wales. It's a par 72 championship links course that holds international tournaments such as the Curtis cup in 2021. The club was founded in 1890 and the course designers were Jack Morris, Frank Pennink, Brian Huggett & Neil Coles.
The green fees were £25 for 18 holes in March 2022 (reduced price due to remedial work on the greens and fairways).
I'm James, a golfer with a dodgy swing now playing off an 15 handicap. I had taken 3 golf lessons to improve my swing on the day of play.
I'm looking to continuously break 90 on the courses I play. Even if I don't shoot a good score I always enjoy strolling around the fairways of North Wales, UK :-)

Golf in a nutshell: hole 5, tee to green not great but a magical putt saves par. Next hole, glorious drive and layup, then it all goes wrong. Oh well. Thanks for another great video James, see you on the next one.

Nice round James. Good to see you doing the gardening, I played yesterday and there were loads of un-repaired pitch marks and un-raked bunkers, not many of them mine but I fixed them anyway. That does make me mildly irritated. It looks like a lovely course, shame the greens are like a ploughed field at the moment, I'm sure they will get better but it didn't help, a bit bobbly sums them up.

Well James bit of a mixed bag of a round there. The course did look quite tough to be fair. Still, some good strikes and your lag putts as always are very good. Need to get on the putting green and drill out those 3 foot putting nerves. I used to suffer with that a couple of years back and spent hours on the putting green just hitting 3, 4 and 5 foot putts until I felt confident everytime I stood over a putt. Keep up the good work and great videos.

Conwy has to be one of the most unforgiving courses I’ve ever played so I can totally relate to your round.

So, in SoCal where I live, a lot of us play tee to green on the punched greens and add two strokes for the green play. But we all know that's a bit forgiving . Anyway, Conwy looks like a course I'd like to play. We have links-like courses here, but nothing like Conwy. One thing I love about your videos is you show all your shots (fats, tops, etc) and not just the shots that make you look good. Excellent work. Keep them coming.

Hey James. Boy 13th and 15th were a killer. Conway is now my favorite new course you have played. You have come a long way and you're more consistent. I took you lesson tips on the Grip and Swing and found a Video to complement the same direction. I went out yesterday on the range and although the new grip felt a bit awkward, after a few swings it started to make an impression. I then went out and played 9 without keeping score to just get a feel for the grip and swing. it will be a work in progress but believe it's the ticket to correct my slice. The stronger grip definitely helps correct that. I'm playing in a tournament Sunday. I play in a men's club on Saturdays I enjoy the game so much and the guys I play with. The Shot Tracker is a great visual aide and gives your videos the ability to be watched, without It I wouldn't find it as interesting and harder to follow along. Thumbs up!

    • @edwardsroba
      @edwardsroba 2 ปีที่แล้ว

With respect to James, he’s a 15 handicap because he plays very short courses. This one was a bit of a reality check, but at 6200 yards from the green tees, it’s still short. I would agree a 25 handicap is more accurate. It’s impossible to get lower if you are hitting a 6 iron 130 yards. But hey, he’s a work in progress! Ps I’m pretty sure we have exactly the same handicap system as the US

Those link-style courses… puts a premium on hitting fairways, huh? 😀 Round was okay overall. If you would for me: in your next practice tee session, see if you can take a series of swings where-in your backswing at 3 o’clock-you might rotate your forearms a tad and get the toe of the club pointing skyward. You’re super-closed in your takeaway. I think rotating the club head (and subsequently, your body) through the swing will provide a more dependable line, thus, more fairways, thus, more GIRs. Just a thought.

I'm not a member of any club right now. The handicap is taken from Golfshot app which tracks my scores to par. I have logged over 100 rounds on there now and it's pretty accurate.
If I was at a club my hcp would probably be a few points lower due to less course management errors and bad club selections which plague my rounds.
      Thanks for watching :-)

@@notaperfectgolfer3489 to be honest, if you had a club handicap you probably would be a bit higher. Club handicaps are largely taken from club comps played from the members competition tees, normally coloured white. Theses provide a much sterner test of golf than the yellow visitors tees that you have been playing off. Add to that the fact that playing in comps with other people, adds another level of pressure. "Card in pocket competition golf "is a totally different game than yellow tee solo fun golf.
Incidentally I played Old Colwyn this afternoon, had the whole course to myself, not another car on the car park !!! £10 in the envelope and off I went, glorious, wonderful weather today.

Longer par 4s are difficult if you arent a 'big hitter'

Not a perfect golfer catchphrase bingo:
    1) missed by a hairs breath
    2) splash one on
    3) on course analysis 😂😂😂😂 which is the most fraudulent statement I’ve ever heard
    4) The thumbs up 👍
    5) Long over due

      No drama
      2nd shot is a layup
& tee shot finds the right hand rough! :-)
