    Only just found this channel. I like your honesty, and the fact that you can play a hole really badly and still enjoy it. That's what golf is supposed to be about. By the way, good nine on the second. LOL.

      I wouldn't have liked to play this course as a 27 hcp. Very unforgiving in the links part. Years ago I played North Wales GC in Llandudno losing 8 balls and shooting 120+ I still have the scorecard & it nearly made me quit golf forever! 👍👍

      @@notaperfectgolfer3489 I lost 3 balls at Wycombe Heights *PAR 3* last week. There was 1 hole I stopped counting on... Really enjoyed it beating me up, suprisingly. I was awful for 7 or 8 holes, then found my par 3 game.

    I used to play Abersoch quite regularly about 20 years ago! The house next to the tee box ( where the chap was on his phone) used to belong to Bill Roach aka Ken Barlow of Coronation street fame. I remember teeing off and hearing him chatting in his garden, which was quite distracting! My playing partner shouted over “ put a sock in it, Ken” and it did the trick! Great course, wonderful memories and brilliant video!

      It's definitely a unique track thats for sure I enjoyed the round. I think the guy near the tee was talking extra loud to try and put me off.
      Maybe Bill was an Abersoch member? Very convenient location to jump on the course 👍👍👍

    You really set a great example with your attitude. A 9 and you shrug it off with a smile and next hole you par the very hard signature 200 yard par 3 with a lovely tee shot. Most would let the frustration ruin the next hole. Good stuff👍

    What a wonderful little course with beautiful views both seaside and inland. One thing James: with the condition of the fairways on the front, it would be reasonable to give yourself an improved lie in the middle of the fairway.

      @featherfoot614 ปีที่แล้ว

      I was wondering about all the bare patches in the grass. I've never played golf in the UK so I don't know, maybe that's just part of a seaside links course. Added a whole other level of difficulty, that's for sure. Very cool course though. I'll add it to the list of places featured here that I'd like to play some day.

    From my experience playing links courses in Moray-Highlands, greens are usually sloping, lots of weird breaks and a reasonably flat green is a welcomed break 😅. Great video

    • @notaperfectgolfer3489
      @notaperfectgolfer3489  ปีที่แล้ว

      That's weird, all the other links courses I've played had relatively flat greens plus the ones in the Wirral are like that too. It caught me by surprise on the day as the defence of most links courses is the weather and terrain.

    Not bad. Just enjoy playing. We here in the NE usa can't play... rained out for about 6 weeks now - lots of road repairs and course repairs/changes. One hole went from a par 4 to a 3 as the river cut out the cart path.

    • @notaperfectgolfer3489

      It was a slow 4-ball a couple of groups in front that messed up the pace of play for everyone. I had a disgruntled 2-ball behind me that layed up 20 yards short of the green on a par 4 when I was holing out. Annoying stuff.
      Slow play happens from time to time. Maybe I should have had that pint after the 12th as I waited 5 minutes on about 10 tee shots.
      I was happy with £30 for the round and it was great to play in nice weather again 👍👍

  • @neilpeace7734
    @neilpeace7734 ปีที่แล้ว

    That tee shot on hole 4 reminded me of what happened to me yesterday. Short par 4 which I have almost driven in the height of summer but not so much now after the rain. I used a hybrid and hit what I thought was a really good shot but there is a bunker at about 200 yards. I went in it and when I got there someone had left the rake sideways in the bunker about 8 inches from the front lip and parallel to it. This caused the ball to stop 6 inches from the lip on a downslope with virtually no shot and a seriously awkward stance. As far as I am aware you don't get any kind of relief from that kind of stupidity. From another video I found there is no rule for placement of the rake but it should be as far from an active line as possible. I still think golfers should be protected from other players who are inconsiderate like that though. Maybe someone should start the ball rolling on that one rather than having it abruptly stopped at the front of a bunker. 🙄

      Carding a triple on the 4th which was stroke index 17 wasn't good for breaking 90! :-)

    • @neilpeace7734
      @neilpeace7734 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@notaperfectgolfer3489 No, I agree and I have experienced similar disasters recently. I got a 6 on that hole where, realistically, I would expect to get at very least a par. I know you took a lengthy break. I don't know why that was but you still hit a decent ball off the tee. The app that I use reckons I am 12.9 which is similar to you I believe. I've had a peculiar summer. I too was out of the game for months with long CVD and only started again in May. Unfortunately a few weeks ago I carded one of my best rounds for decades. I say unfortunately as I haven't been able to get anywhere near it since. One of those days when everything went right aside from an absolute deluge towards the end (14 onwards) and a group of players meandering up the fairway seemingly oblivious to it??? I actually got quite cross with them which is something I don't usually do on a golf course and I almost forgot the most important point which is that if you don't enjoy it don't do it. When you become a bit too score focussed it tends to spoil it. Thanks and good luck for your next one.
