Well James my boy, I did it! Broke 90. Shot an 88 then followed it up with an 89. I finally got a lesson. Broke my swing completely down including holding the club correctly and using my lower part of the body and keeping my left arm straight. What I realized that I didn't understand before is that with a proper swing the club head will automatically square to the ball if you consistently have your swing in the proper place. That and keeping my damn head still and eye on the ball. This was huge for me to understand. I'm still a hack, but now I'm able to enjoy the game, which after last summer I was about to give up, Shooting 105 to 112 with no hope in sight. I'm ready to take you on in a head-to-head match for a pint when I come over to visit family and friends in Scotland and England next summer, might even stay for a but since I'm retiring this yr. LOL... I told myself that when I broke 90, I'd buy myself a new set of clubs. One of the other Men's club members I play with on the weekends had a set of Hybrid Irons that I noticed, I wasn't familiar with them, and he let me swing them and I loved them. The weight in the club head gives me a much better feel and now I use every Iron in the bag, which I didn't before. I was scared to use anything under my 8 iron. I bought a 5 Callaway Hybrid fairway wood, and it is so forgiving and true. My favorite club able to hit it consistently 140 to 170 yards. I know only people that are in our position and play the game understand how hard it is, and watching good players is frustrating, when you put every effort into improving and take it seriously but don't see positive results. Seeing positive results give me confidence that I can [lay this game and look forward to many great days on the course. I am happy I stuck with it. I've been following you for a couple yrs. now, you inspired me to keep at it with your clam demeanor and lite hearted approach. Thanks for sharing all the beautiful courses and struggles. If you were a fisherman, instead of Good Luck, I'd say tight lines, for golf, I'll say, Wide Open Fairways and a 12 inch cup. Thanks again. Gregg K.
I take a small hip flask of good whisky along with cold water in summer and hot tea winter. hip flask comes out to settle the nerves after a blowout lol... never give up !
Good to see a video from you James, hope you are well. The confidence in your ability for this mad game is noticeable and the new putter is working well.
Looks like the bunkers aren't scaring you anymore !! glad you finally found a putter you like, personally I think you could putt with almost anything, definitely the strongest part of your game, as always a great watch, cheers.
Great to see you do a video, again very enjoyable and well done. Youre a good golfer,so natural and honest and great commentary. A little like payne stewart with your feet alignment at teeing off,it helps the back swing though. Loved the fact you kept the glove on so as to not let the beer slip!!!
Keeping your head from coming off is crucial, as we all know a round comes with it share of crucial moments....And thats what keeps us coming back......Just like your videos..always enjoyable and keeps me coming back.....Keep at it mate!
Great tips. I will use any and all tips to help me lower my handicap, which currently sits around 30. Glad to see you back out golfing. What is the temperature there at this time of year? Also, are the beers cold?
On this day I changed irons the month before. I was playing a lot of approach games on a toptracer range and was playing a draw / hook. Right now the game is ok on the course but not good for practice. I hope to improve the swing this spring :)
Good tips!! Do you recommend a couple of pints at the turn to help with breaking 90??😂 This must be the best January weather on record! Must be global warming.

Well played, a lot of golf is played between the ears :)
I take a small hip flask of good whisky along with cold water in summer and hot tea winter. hip flask comes out to settle the nerves after a blowout lol... never give up !
Enjoyed one from the vault, James. Especially with the sun shining. It was 13°F here in Dallas last week....brrrr.
Nice to see you posting again James. I have missed your great golf videos! Please keep them coming!!!...
Always makes my day when you upload a new video.
Good to see a video from you James, hope you are well. The confidence in your ability for this mad game is noticeable and the new putter is working well.

Jack Nicklaus never took his glove off and it didn't hurt his game :)
Great to see an upload from you. Tips are absolutely bang on, love your mindset
Cheers Dave, I made it hard for myself on this day with the 3 lost balls but it was a decent back 9 in the end :)
Well played, James.
Keeping your head from coming off is crucial, as we all know a round comes with it share of crucial moments....And thats what keeps us coming back......Just like your videos..always enjoyable and keeps me coming back.....Keep at it mate!
My favourite tip is having a couple of beers on the way round - I’m definitely going practice that one - cheers 🍻
He's back...:} You and Tropicana Entertainment are the same golfer, lol
Great tips James, swing is looking really good and your putting has improved immensely! Jealous I’ve not had the weather you’ve got here!
I reckon those pints were the key to breaking 90 😂. Good to see the content back James
It's like playing pool, 2 pints is perfect :)
Nice to see you back James
Great vid, your game is coming around ! And a pint never hurts.... cheers.
Great video. The weather looking stunning at times.
Great to see a video from you James.
Love your vids
I need to follow what I see you doing...commit to a comfortable swing.
Swing your swing :)
Really enjoyed this video . Can relate to this round .
James great to see another video, you have a beautiful little draw on your irons, approach shots where generally very good
Cheers Paul, the change in irons has definitely helped the GIRs go slightly up :)
Well played 🍻
Great putt for the triple bogey on the first hole. It was the best possible outcome in that situation.
Brilliant to watch as always James. You've improved alot. Keep up the good work.
You're really improving, well done!
Really seen an improvement in your game, keep grinding it out.
Great tips. I will use any and all tips to help me lower my handicap, which currently sits around 30. Glad to see you back out golfing. What is the temperature there at this time of year? Also, are the beers cold?
Nice frosty beers pal. It's winter golf right now so forward mats and waterlogged courses...
Yes, i have the same experience, when i come to my "favorite" courses the play is always on .... greatings from a snowy Finland
Should do some 9 holes golf course like Knutsford and sandfield foregolf in Chester ⛳👍
lovely weather for 13th September!
Brilliant tips thanks James 😀.Hope it wasn’t the beer that was to blame for the 9 on the 11th hole !
That hole is a total card wrecker. I'm really glad double dogleg par 5s are not more common :)
Some good stuff James... 3 bad holes outta 18 is not too bad.. Just a pity they were SO bad 😂
Cheers Paul. Yeah those 3 lost balls really cost me but for HCP purposes the score was +13 I think :)
Hi James, great round! What would you say you are working on (if anything) in your golf swing or game?
On this day I changed irons the month before. I was playing a lot of approach games on a toptracer range and was playing a draw / hook. Right now the game is ok on the course but not good for practice. I hope to improve the swing this spring :)

It's a great track. I never had a bad round there :)
Hi James Play Mold you will love it! also when did you play this?
Sept 2023. Mold is on the list for this year :)
Shorts? T shirt ? Sunshine ? North Wales in January ?😂
lovely weather for 13th September I would say.
@@stevefowler2910 yeah, I saw that at the end 😄
My best tip for breaking 90 is to go directly from the 1st green to the 6th tee ....
Would love to see a video in proper winter conditions
Would be how tombreak 100 then
th-cam.com/video/yIw8ggrm1Pc/w-d-xo.html This previous round was in 2°C temperatures!
Played mate!
Good tips!! Do you recommend a couple of pints at the turn to help with breaking 90??😂
This must be the best January weather on record! Must be global warming.
I need to to start drinking more. 🍺
"we" should have a gofundme page to get you proper lessons from a proper pro. You'd take 6 + off your game young man !
