Hi Scott! Another great overview. This is the type of system that would fit my group’s needs, however, we need one of the microphones to be a headset, a la Brittany Spears, for the drummer. Any chance that Phenyx would have this option? Or another manufacturer that could fit the bill? Decent equipment at a relatively reasonable price. As always, thanks!
Hi Scott. Thanks for another excellent review. Bought the PTU-71 on your recommendation and we are very very pleased with it. A great system. Managed to get the rack mount too. So much easier than having to deal with cables all the time and the scanning for the best freq is a great feature.
Antenna Distribution usually means better range because you often use directional antennas which will focus where it wants to transmit the signal and reject where it doesn't need to get the signal
The only miss on this product was not internally combining the 4 antennas into 2. Would have gladly paid a little more to avoid a passive combined cable mess behind the unit.
If I wanted to run six of these, that would be 12 antennas, I'm not worried about having a bunch of antennas sticking out visually, but I'm wondering if there would be interference.
That's too many wireless in a rack all together. You'll want a distribution system at that point like this: th-cam.com/video/fV1SJzLHwPI/w-d-xo.htmlsi=RqFEBBJG4DXHaogK
I just bought the latest model Phenyx Pro Wireless Microphone System, True Diversity Dual Cordless Microphone Set and couldn't get one that worked properly. I loved the price point and really wanted this to work but just fell short.

There is a way to actually auto scan on the 7000, you have to hold the set button on whichever channel you want to sync, and it works rather well for me.

If I am sit facing the stage and the RX's front panel is facing me, will it be better to have the antennas mounted at the back of the RX so the antennas is somewhat "closer" to the stage? I always get the Audio2000's Amc4181 off Amazon 3 for $9.99. It’s a similar form factor to the Sennheiser mic clip. Keep a multi tool on you during setup because the screw never seems to be tight enough. I don’t like the rubbery “unbreakable” kind because I always see people struggling to mount wireless mics onto them. Just my two cents.
Maybe they sent you a good unit since you are basically a salesman for them? But the unit I got doesnt really work. It is NOT true diversity. It has a indicator on the front of the unit to tell you which antenna it is taking the signal from. It wont change to antenna B even if I unplug antenna A and make the RF signal drop off completely. It just stays on antenna A and squelches to mute. So, the true diversity claim is a bold faced lie. The last gig I did with it, it was dropping out with the singer 12 feet in front of the unit, even after autoscanning the channels once the crowd showed up, and once again in the middle of a song.
Sorry yours didn’t work. I’m not a salesman for them, I review music gear and I’m a fan of what they do. I can tell you that I’ve used these multiple times and they have worked very well for me. I have had a different experience than what you are sharing.

And Im not even questioning your review here. They easily could have sent you a unit that actually went through quality control (unlike the others) to get a better review from you. Or (more likely) their claim of true diversity is a complete lie like all the amazon claims for LED headlight lumens, or flashlight lumens, but they have a few units that actually ARE that they send to affiliate salesmen and trade shows, which they sent to you.
