Thanks for watching everyone! Also, just a quick correction, they add 450 new tracks each month... not 40 like I said in the video. Pretty crazy! Also to get that free month of the Pro Plan, you can use the link: jamzone.onelink.me/aiaO/scottuhl and that should automatically apply it. If not, use "SCOTTUHLMUSIC" as the code. Enjoy!
Just wanted to let you know this video changed my life. I'm 70 years old and playing guitar since I was 14. Now I'm singing a lot and traveling and looking for a place to play. Have never been able to find a band. And can't figure out how to do the backing tracks. This does it all. Best thing I've ever done. Channel subscribe and I love it. Thank you thank you thank you
Your presentation of this is nothing short of outstanding. Thank you! I was aware of JamZone from the FB group for Backing Track Users (where you also posted the video), but your way of demoing it made it clear to me that I really need to book a JamZone plan. One thing I wish it could do is keep the drums and percussion unchanged when tuning down or up by more than a couple half-steps (such as needed to play songs originally sung by a woman). The drums and percussion can sound pretty „off“ when tuned a lot. That said, I would simply try to limit my use of JamZone to mostly songs that only need to be key-shifted by 0 to 3 half-steps.
I started using Jamzone Pro a while ago and I wouldn't dream of switching back. Absolutely love it. But from your video I still learned some very useful things I didn't know. Congratulations on 100K subs!
Thank you Scott for this video. I follow your channel regularly. You explain things in detail and precise. Greetings from Port Elizabeth, South Africa 🇿🇦
Thanks for your video! There is another great app for that called "Playback with metronome" which can play any number of tracks you want and also support lyrics, midi commands, multiple outputs audiointerfaces, basic EQ on every track, mixer and so on. Another cool feature is ability to connect two or more devices to play playback in sync through wireless connection. And no subscription!
Thanks for sharing, I’ll have to check it out. It looks very different from this app just by what it says in the App Store; but I’ll look into it more. Thanks!
JamZone is amazing. I use it just for practice, but if there was a way to make the lyrics gigantic and show the chords for the whole song on the side (ex: chorus: G Dm C, verse: C Dm Dm) so that you don’t need to stare at the screen the whole song, Then we could use it for live perftrmances.
i have a band at work. we all work remotely. we play a show each year of 11 songs. we have two days to rehearse together. to prepare, we use Jamzone to practice alone. when we come together we all have been practicing to the same structure. we run click during performance and show lyrics on monitors for vocalists. love this app
how to you broadcast your main unit as maybe your ipad or imac to monitors? I am asking as I am part of a 4 piece band and I would love to be able to broadcast the main screen of jamzone to my other band members which are using Android tablets. As that even possible?
I have been using this for live shows for a long time. Great company, very responsive if you have any problems. Thanks Scott, I learned some new stuff here!
Excellent review. Detailed and explained in layman's terms. Agree fully with Scott's opinion that Jamzone is bloody great for individual performers. Have subscribed to Scott's page and will definitely be checking out other reviews and demos he has already done, and does in the future. Big thumbs up all round. Cheers.
The Zoom Livetrack L-20 is a 20 track mixer with 6 headphone outs built into the mixer. You can send any tracks to each headphone out as a separate mix. It will read and write any tracks from the built in SD card reader but they have to be in wav format. It also has a feature that lets you record your vocal cues without a mic to a track, which can then be sent to all the headphones out but not the front of house for instance. It also has built in effects, reverbs, etc and of course quality mic preamps. It will save all your settings and mixes per song, so when you load up a song you've already mixed, it will load up exactly as you left it. You can also lock each song so that you don't accidently mess up the mix. BUT it is still a little pricey. You can find them used for about 5 to 6 hundred bucks.
Thank you for reviewing JZ! I have been a Pro subscriber for a couple of years and it just keeps getting better. I actually learned some things by watching your video. I was not aware of the multi-tracking capabilities. I will dig into that further. One thing I will mention; if you are in a band, the screen display can be routed to HDMI and sent to multiple users, so that everyone sees the same thing. Additionally, songs not yet available can be requested. JZ has been very responsive to my requests. They are the best!
Excellent tutorial I just purchased this today and it seems pretty cool to play around with. I usually use transcribe to learn solos and ableton to record my own music etc. one thing it’s lackin is no way to select a small section of the guitar solo and slow it down. I mean, I know you can slow it down without changing pitch but you have to do the whole instrumental section. I’d also like to see a way to export stems individually. you can mix it and then record the mix and then save that and then go back and do a different mix and record that mix and then download that but that would take you forever to do one song that way. Oh and no pan for each track in the mixer which is odd
Thanks Scott! Great Video...amazing how far we have come in the last few years with regards to technology. We went from making our own backing tracks, to buying and using an app, to having it all in one app. I dropped my Multitracker in favor of this system. I appreciate your work so much.
I see this as being a bigger selling point for solo/duo artists to provide a larger sound and is growing in demand in my areas. I'm just getting into that market coming from small cover-band projects. Am definitely bookmarking this to check out with my singer! Cheers!
Thanks Scott. I’ve had JamZone on my IPad. It was a while ago. I forgot it was so versatile. Thanks again for all your videos they are spot on and very practical
Great vid , great product. Only downfall for me is the monthly subscription. Karaoke version is a better fit for myself for only use a handful of tracks for my show. But definitely will put it in my book if it’s something I’d like to revisit. Thanks and keep the vids coming !!
Another great suggestion. Thank you Scott. I have been using Moises to help with teaching but it doesn’t really work for me at gigs. This looks much more versatile.
Thanks Scott! Jamzone works great! We’re a Frank Zappa cover band out of Detroit, and keeping it together is a bit hard as we pull in players from all over the US for gigs. And I thought that NOBODY would make FZ tracks! We’re currently revamping the whole show, to go out as a small OR large group! GREAT INFO (once again!)
A Cool feature to add would be the ability to have 4 lines to display instead of 2, expecially if you minimise the mixer. I use a 13in iPad, so 6 or 8 lines would be handy. A friend suggested the lyrics could be increased in size (like you can in Bandhelper etc)
Excellent video. i was sold because of it. Any advice on increasing sound level from tablet to analogue mixer or is it is better with digital mixer? or does the DI box do that as well as split click track etc. Thanking You 😊
Thanks! And You should have enough of an output from a tablet. There is plenty of sound, and if there is something wrong, check out my video on mic/inst/line level
Have you tried Moises? You can do any song you like and take out the instrument of your choice. Great for practice. I used to use KV but don’t need it now.
i use both. it takes some effort to get karaoke tracks into stage traxx. i add a cues track and record lyrics to drive lights. wish st3 supported a midi track
Thank you very much for your enlightening video, I am now a fan of this app. Spent a lot of hours with it. Have you already played with the inputs and the record option? It would be nice if you could indicate before the recording which tracks and inputs you want to record. I use an xr18 and would like to include only the front of house from the xr18. I can't find this option.
Thanks Scott! I’m so glad you do these kinds of vids. I presented this to my band to determine if it’s a viable option for our situation. I’d be lost without your vids man, keep it going! Happy ass camper! 😂
Been using Jamzone for a couple of years. For practice and live. It's a great app. Great for learning guitar parts. Some of the chords in the chord box aren't practical on the fly, but otherwise the tracks are good. It would be good to have a volume control for the count in. I just dont use it. Also the count down should be counted up. I.ve never heard a drummer go "4 3 2 1" Well, a drummer that can count anyway..
Hi S, solo player using J.Z. Full time. Some other things they can do is , increase the clock size , I take some of my cues from the time code. , and also, add pedal remote to a certain track to turn off and on, to add and remove an instrument to solo. Great review.
You know what would be great is if you could select which tracks you see and have the option to have the tablature or chords come up on the guitar tracks and the notes come up on the piano tracks to make it easier to play along to.
I wish there was some way to link 2 ipads together so that the sax player and the guitar player could each be using their own ipad. I have been using Jamzone for a couple of months and I really like it. Good review , by the way. 👍
@valleygentlemen2722 Question please. I have the Premium version (not the Pro). Can you tell me where to activate the "Offline Mode" that stated in the plans is available for Premium and Pro?
Scott can you add a video of how a cover band might use this and how the screen could be mirrored for other band members using Airplay or possibly HDMI to a monitor so all band members can see the Jamzone screen?
Really great and informative video Scott- just like all your presentations ! Thank you Definitely thinking of starting to use this app -but unless I've missed, something the only thing it seems to lack ( because there's no midi track ) is the ability to trigger patch changes for a multi-FX guitar pedal which would be great for different guitar sounds between verse/chorus/solos etc. Hopefully Jamzone may provide an update to make this happen 🙂
Hello, many thanks for the video. Where can I see the song list? My interest is on Brazilian catalog (Brazilian Rock, Pop, Bossa Nova), or whether JamZone is for English songs only. Thanks!
I have the free Trial download on my desktop I want to go for the Pro. If I download this to my Desktop is there a way to use it on my min iPad the iPad is what I will be taking with me to do gigs with.
I set this up with the same exact gear shown and it works perfect. Thanks so much!! Btw does anyone know how to make JZ stop automatically at a specific spot on a track and save it to happen every time?
This looks pretty simple. Thank you for taking the time to review and teach this app. One question though; it does have a subscription fee. Let’s say I pay the pro fee for 6 months and compile 200 songs in my library set up for my gigs. If I cancel do I lose all of that? Thanks again Al D.
Great video. It’s a shame it doesn’t seem to have a feature to output midi to pedals etc and also would like to see a song search as we often don’t use fixed set lists
I’m an older rock, blues, and r&b singer. Can anyone tell me what is the simplest app or device to get for a vocalist that turns down vocals and can loop, and change keys without slowing down. (to practice songs) Thank you in advance!
@@ScottUhlMusic … thanks Scott since then I’ve heard of the FREE Moises app. But I haven’t tried it yet, you can remove vocals, loop ,change keys, slow down. Have you heard of the Moises app?
Thanks Scott for all you put together in here, I'm a follower of the channel from some time ago. I have a doubt since we are starting to rehearse again with my band, and we'll probably have some festivals coming. What is the dynamic of people/setup when setting up backing tracks/IEM in cases like that, when you share stage with many other bands?
Thanks for following the channel! And always communicate ahead of time what your setup is. We have our system down now where we can do a changeover and be setup in like 10 minutes. And if you go over, make sure you still stop when you are scheduled to stop 👍
Thought I'll have a look and it already was installed on my tablet. Well, if I only knew there were some gigs in the near future, I'd consider buying it. I'm in the preparing mode. But it's not intended to work with your own content. Too expensive for just playing around and the free version is not usable. But here's my feature suggestion anyway: I'd like to see a mixer recording track, where you can define your own arrangement. Your first verse consists of kick, hi hat and bass only, and as the song plays, more and more instruments are added by the mixer that plays the automated mix.
This summer I played a short time with a cover band and they used this. I didn’t like that some songs had a four count. Drummer had the click in his ears and it isn’t enough time to start. Singer/bass would push play and then drummer wouldn’t be able to get but 2 or 3 hat hits to start. Other songs would have slight breaks where I saw the metronome time shift up and down. Check out the end of Prince “Let’s Go Crazy” and I defy a band to get back in sync to play the ending. There’s some great things about the app but in my experience the weaknesses make it really hard to use as a full band.
I do wish you could set the count in, I agree. And let’s go crazy is nuts! I made my own click for that outro. But that song wasn’t recorded to a click, so it’s definitely not easy to make to a click, that’s for sure. Thanks for the feedback and comment 👍
Scott, another great video. One problem: the link you shared takes me to the Apple App Store and I can’t enter your discount code to get a free month, is just takes me to the subscribe option for Pro option. Actually I figured it out: you must sign up on a computer not an iPad. Works fine. Thanks again
Hi there! You have a loop section in Jamzone to loop the specific part of the track you want to practice. You can also slowdown the bpm to make it easier. More infos on our blog or on our TH-cam channel :)
I'm a big Stage Traxx fan but this looks good, only thing I would miss is vocal cues like you said but there is the visual indicator at the top. One other thing that I don't think was mentioned unless I missed it, does it have sessions so that everyone can see what's happening on their own device? Splitting stems and importing tracks in ST3 takes time and effort but offers more flexibility whereas with JamZone it looks like you can pretty much download a song and play it which would be handy for requests.
It doesn’t seem to have the session option that stage Traxx has. Another comment said you could connect to HDMI, but that seems more complicated. It would be a nice feature for sure!
Learning a lot from your videos man. Love them!! I was looking through the comments and I hope I’m not asking a repeat question here… can you upload your own songs? Was thinking on a way to do covers and original stuff while using this. Thanks man.
Thanks for watching everyone! Also, just a quick correction, they add 450 new tracks each month... not 40 like I said in the video. Pretty crazy! I would get this app just for those fill in gigs where the singer changes the keys so I can learn a tune in that KEY
Great video! I went to download it on to my PC, but the steps you have to go through are seriously RIDICULOUS!
Wish they had a PC version.
I’ve been using this for a year or so, but I just learned a lot watching this vid.

Great that it supports Smartphones, as well as ios. I generally use an ipad, but glad I can use it on my flip.
And you can use the same account on all your devices :)
That is fantastic. Was in stagetraxx but totally rethinking
This is good - now will going to ty Jamzone and the set up - simple set up

Thanks for video. I usually hate tracks as I like to extend chorus. Now I know how to do it 😁
Yup! That’s a great feature 🤘
That’s awesome. Looks like so much more options than STrx3.
ST3 doesn’t have tracks specifically, you have to make them and organize them, so they are different apps 👍

Scott, great video, thank you! I don't have a PA system. Can I run the tracks to a second guitar amplifier? If yes, do I still need a DI Box? Thanks.
Thanks! And that will make the tracks sound a little weird to go into an amp that is meant for guitar, unless the amp specifically has an aux input.
@@ScottUhlMusic Thanks for the fast reply. Luckily my second amp has an AUX input. 😀

I have the free Trial download on my desktop I want to go for the Pro. If I download this to my Desktop is there a way to use it on my min iPad the iPad is what I will be taking with me to do gigs with.
Hey Scott! Thank you for teaching me so much on this subject!
Can you SHOW the set list while playing a song to see what’s next!
Glad you enjoyed it! And no, I hope they add that in a firmware update
Thanks Scott 👏👏👏👏
Thanks for watching!
Great video!
Thanks! 😊
I love your videos!
Is it possible to use Jamzone to synchronize DMx lights?
Thanks! And no, it’s not possible with this app
Super!
I set this up with the same exact gear shown and it works perfect. Thanks so much!! Btw does anyone know how to make JZ stop automatically at a specific spot on a track and save it to happen every time?
Nice! Glad to hear it. And that I don’t know
Great app and thorough review Scott. Too bad they don't offer a perpetual license. I stopped renting software a while back. Love your channel.
Great mister Scott it is also possible to operate it with a foot switch
I go over that in the video 👍
Very cool!
This looks pretty simple. Thank you for taking the time to review and teach this app. One question though; it does have a subscription fee. Let’s say I pay the pro fee for 6 months and compile 200 songs in my library set up for my gigs. If I cancel do I lose all of that? Thanks again Al D.
I don’t believe so, you should still be able to get all of your songs when you start your subscription again 👍
Great video. It’s a shame it doesn’t seem to have a feature to output midi to pedals etc and also would like to see a song search as we often don’t use fixed set lists
I was also thinking it would be super helpful to be able to somehow save different versions of songs eg arrangement or say say key for example
Great video! Very excited to start using it. Question. Are you able to upload your own original songs and incorporate those into your set list?
Thanks! And no, not with this app
Looks pretty cool that @Scott Uhl
If I was still doing solo/duo stuff I'd absolutely get it
I’m an older rock, blues, and r&b singer. Can anyone tell me what is the simplest app or device to get for a vocalist that turns down vocals and can loop, and change keys without slowing down. (to practice songs) Thank you in advance!
I think this app is a good one for that 👍
@@ScottUhlMusic … thanks Scott since then I’ve heard of the FREE Moises app. But I haven’t tried it yet, you can remove vocals, loop ,change keys, slow down. Have you heard of the Moises app?
Hi there! with Jamzone you can practice or perform live your favorite songs! :)
But here's my feature suggestion anyway:
I'd like to see a mixer recording track, where you can define your own arrangement. Your first verse consists of kick, hi hat and bass only, and as the song plays, more and more instruments are added by the mixer that plays the automated mix.
Yeah if you want to import your own tracks, look into stage Traxx which I’ve also reviewed 👍
@@ScottUhlMusicalready tried to find it on google play but seems to be an apple app?
Does Jamzone have eq ?
🎉 Congratulations on 100k ! 🎉 😎🤘
Thank you! I appreciate your support 🙏🙏
Thanks!
Looks great for guitarist/vocalist. But not enough midi programming power for my keyboard setup. I'll stick with Stagetraxx
Well organised software and good video thanks! Does this app allow you to load in your own stems\tracks?
Thanks! And no it doesn’t
As i produce my own backing trax this app is a no.. but i can see why other petformers would use it.. great video..
Agreed! Thanks 🤘
Scott, another great video. One problem: the link you shared takes me to the Apple App Store and I can’t enter your discount code to get a free month, is just takes me to the subscribe option for Pro option. Actually I figured it out: you must sign up on a computer not an iPad. Works fine. Thanks again
Oh weird, that’s the link they had me share. Try downloading it from the website or signing up on the website
the code only works when the subscription is selected from the website and added in the basket's code field there
Impressive set of features. Do you think it's accurate enough to be an effective way to "learning" the different parts of a tune?
Definitely!
Hi there! You have a loop section in Jamzone to loop the specific part of the track you want to practice. You can also slowdown the bpm to make it easier. More infos on our blog or on our TH-cam channel :)
Wait a minute! How do I get the Jamzone app and how much is it?
I want to use it on my phone.
Excellent!
Thank you 🙏
Learning a lot from your videos man. Love them!! I was looking through the comments and I hope I’m not asking a repeat question here… can you upload your own songs? Was thinking on a way to do covers and original stuff while using this. Thanks man.
Hi there! At the moment, this option is not available
