    At long last someone who has explained this very clearly. I have been driven dimented for the past couple of days trying to get this to work. In my case the factory harness supplied with the radio does not output a trigger voltage so a relay is the way to go. I will try this tomorrow and report back on how I get on.😀

      Good luck! I was in the same boat, but it's relatively easy once you know what you have to do. Feel free to drop a msg here if you get stuck!

    Very informative. Don’t have a bmw but with your attention to detail this can be easy for anyone to install. Nice work!

    Thanks - I have a similar eonon unit and setup for my E92. Got it to work without a relay by using a spare wire power source from the eonon head unit connected to the red "back up signal wire" which was then connected to power for camera, and ground connected to chassis as you did. A bit simpler without so much splicing. Cheers!

    So i assume this will act as a auto switching module? Regardless which screen you have up, it will auto switch to camera when in reverse?

    Great video ! Going to install mine but do you know if the reverse wire for a 2011 bmw 328i xdrive would be the same wire as in your video ?

    • @falqonslanding
      @falqonslanding  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Not 100% certain. The one you see in the video is pre-LCI, and yours will likely be LCI and could be different.
      An easy way to confirm would be to pick up a voltage tester, put the car in reverse and see which cable lights up when you put it to the cables.

    Just about to do this install myself actually! I’m just wondering; removing the trigger wire from the reverse light and adding to this setup - how does the reverse light get triggered now to come on when in reverse?

    • @falqonslanding
      @falqonslanding  11 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      Hi there! To clarify, I did not remove the reverse light. I simply spliced into it, so that when the car is in reverse (ie: that line gets power), the camera also gets power.
      Removing the light entirely from the harness will certainly prevent the light AND camera from working.

    So for the trigger source and battery positive you used a separate wire? And then the positive from camera straight to 87 on relay, and for the camera ground did you make a jumper wire to relay then chassis ground correct? Thanks bro

    • @falqonslanding
      @falqonslanding  11 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      Correct to all of the above. Ground was simply a wire ring terminal fitted to the end of a wire and grounded above the battery to the chassis.
      The diagram at 5:48 explains it best, did my best to point out polarity (red and black lines) to exactly what I wired them to.

      @@falqonslanding Awesome, thanks bro. I work as cable assembler doing custom aerospace cables for military and airplanes lol, just had to make sure I had it correct after watching and seeing your diagram. And I can get these parts and cables free from stock room at work 😁👍🏼. Appreciate it. God bless 🙏🏼✝️

    Can you specifically show how the wires go from the 4 line relay. You fast forward the video so quickly so I can’t tell what wires you exactly connected where. I get the battery positive goes to the 30a in-line fuse and then the 30. I also get the trigger source to the 86. I am confused by the wiring from the camera positive to the 87 and the camera and battery ground to 85. Can you show in normal speed slowly how they go from the ground all the way to the connection? Same for the camera positive. Thanks

    • @falqonslanding
      @falqonslanding  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hey there! Where the lines are going are specifically plotted out in the diagram from 5:45-6:05
      You'll see the lines to the accessories and where I decided to connect it

    • @darylsmith2313
      @darylsmith2313 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Couple more questions: 1) the trigger wire is black and purple right? The one next to the brown ground wire? 2) what gauge wire do we need to run to the battery and ground? 3) what diameter battery wire to attack to the battery terminal and ground? I assume 3/4”?

    • @falqonslanding
      @falqonslanding  ปีที่แล้ว

      @@darylsmith2313 Sorry I missed this message. Hopefully this information is still helpful for anyone catching up:
      1) The trigger wire for me was the darkest cable on the adapter, not entirely sure, but you can see which one in the wiring diagram mentioned above
      2) As far as wire gauge, I used what was available with the camera kit (probably 18 or 20 gauge) but you could probably step it up to 16 if you wanted to be cautious. Considering the amps that will be running through this will be relatively small, I didn't feel the need to step it up
      3) Same as 2

    i bought a back up camera for my 2007 e60, can i just connect the video to my idrive or do i need to buy a third party screen that runs android? id rather keep it original if possible, but the back up camera trunk latch would be my only exception....thanks for the video

      Thanks for taking the time to check it out. If you search something along the lines of "will ccc/cic support backup camera," it looks like some folks got that working in conjunction with a multimedia interface device.

    Hi Bud, what was reason you used relay setup on this backup install, was the power source from your Android unit was causing some issues on backup camera? Please advise.

    • @falqonslanding
      @falqonslanding  ปีที่แล้ว

      I did it to prevent any issues with my existing setup. I read that there were a lot of folks who had interference or intermittent issues due to the lack of a relay. Figured it didn't hurt to try and figure this out

    • @falqonslanding
      @falqonslanding  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Yeah, I ended up getting some clear silicone and sealing up the edges, taped it down while it dried, and it's been good since. Just be sure to clean the area of any dirt so it adheres to the body. My secondary concern was that with my luck it would somehow fall out too.
