BMW 3 Series - Adjustable Rear Toe Arm Install E8X/E9X
Video only - install of adjustable rear toe arms, sorry, no voice over, but this ones a pretty straightforward job.
Parts installed are the Adjustable Megan Racing Arms on my non-m e90 - SKU MRS-BM-0270
I had to purchase a pair of eccentric lockout nuts to lock the control arm into place.

Great vid my man. Helped alot and saved me 2gs they wanted to replace
Nice, glad it helped!
Are the 2001 solara have fuel filter in the same location?
Finally a video with some decent music to it. Great install will be doing this soon. Rear upper toe and camber arms
Well the first song. 😂
Looooool, Im just using what I can for free 😅 Best of luck on the job!
Are those bushings replaceable or do you have to buy a whole new set of arms when they go bad?
You'll likely need to replace the whole set of arms when they go bad.
German car German torque spec give it that heave ho
Did you replace the gasket.
yeah, I'd recommend replacing it if you're already there
Is there a reason you went with the direct mount instead of the inline?
No, no particular reason. I wasn't sure how to switch it to inline.
What are the torque specs?
You saved my life
Take the damn cowl offfffff bro most of these videos aren’t done professionally and half assed! That’s step one fellas cowl off then everything else.

Rock Auto - parts are in the description in case you're looking for them!
Super helpful
The screws to my tank are stuck and won't move
Wow. Made this look so super easy compared to other videos. Will be doing my mounts today. Great Video!
Thank you! Glad it's helpful, and good luck!
I am a nice guy. Mobile mechanic and affordable. Just quoted a customer $700 for OEM coils, plugs and labor on this 2017. I will do the job on Monday. Around $350 for plugs and coils. $350 labor and will knock it out in 2 hours.
Hello thank you for this video!! Is it necessary to prefill the oil cooler or prime the oil system if you've drain it?? I'm doing this job right now and I'm scared to have air pockets in the oil system....
Yeah I'd recommend priming it. One way to do it might be to pull the ignition coils and turn it over a few timrs
@@falqonslanding Appreciate the quick reply however I believe pulling the ignition coils would not stop fuel from being spray into the cylinder from the injectors (which is a problem in itself). Nevertheless, I just sent it hoping all will be okay, I saw another tutorial that recommend it but said it wasn't absolutely necessary. Out of curiosity, did you prime the system when you did it yourself?
@6:09 super newb question, but what fluid did you pour in there? Seafoam? and what does that device do?
Yeah, used seafoam. The device it's in is an ultrasonic cleaner, which is probably better explained by someone else but I'll give it a shot. It's creating high frequency sound waves to create cavitation bubbles that result in a cleaning action when they collapse. Basically allows us to clean the hard to reach areas (inside the injectors) I've since added an injector tester too in order to run the injector while cleaning it for more thorough cleaning
@@falqonslanding That was a pretty good explaination, lol. Thanks man, good vid!
Can we use bmw bolts with these arms?
I was quoted $800 at the dealer and $1200 at third party...
Looks nice upgrade... But don't know how long the bushing will last and those bolts are notorious on getting loose every now and then that your camber alignment will be put off too.. It a pain in the butt to always worry of it getting out of alignment everytime the car hits a pot hole
Great point - It's been about 2 years since I've done the install, and I haven't seen any issues with alignment since install. Definitely something to consider, but it hasn't been an issue for me.
looking to do the same on mine. did you ever figure out the mounting situation?
No not yet. Unfortunately it's been on the back burner with a few other projects preceding it. I'd love to hear back if you get anything sorted for it though
Mercedes wheels?
I believe those are ROH wheels (from Australia) with Porsche center caps - they look exactly like the same wheels on my 944 (only with ROH center caps).
If remember correctly there was a recall on the rail...could have gone to dealership and had it fixed if it already hadn't been replaced...Porsche is good about that its money in the bank dealership factory pays them...look up as they call them campaigns
I wasn't aware of that. Even on older cars such as this?
Where can I buy the same parts I replaced mine with some aftermarket universal but they broke off need the link
Found them in the info ℹ️
Grade A video 👏
None of these videos show how to disconnect the bracket in the back from the plenum. Which is the main thing that makes this job take so long.
Just about to do this install myself actually! I’m just wondering; removing the trigger wire from the reverse light and adding to this setup - how does the reverse light get triggered now to come on when in reverse?
Hi there! To clarify, I did not remove the reverse light. I simply spliced into it, so that when the car is in reverse (ie: that line gets power), the camera also gets power. Removing the light entirely from the harness will certainly prevent the light AND camera from working.
@@falqonslanding ahhh of course! Legend, love your stuff. Thanks mate
do you have a link to the camera?
So for the trigger source and battery positive you used a separate wire? And then the positive from camera straight to 87 on relay, and for the camera ground did you make a jumper wire to relay then chassis ground correct? Thanks bro
Correct to all of the above. Ground was simply a wire ring terminal fitted to the end of a wire and grounded above the battery to the chassis. The diagram at 5:48 explains it best, did my best to point out polarity (red and black lines) to exactly what I wired them to.
@@falqonslanding Awesome, thanks bro. I work as cable assembler doing custom aerospace cables for military and airplanes lol, just had to make sure I had it correct after watching and seeing your diagram. And I can get these parts and cables free from stock room at work 😁👍🏼. Appreciate it. God bless 🙏🏼✝️
My cars dash shakes when I’m in idle and when i put the car in reverse it shakes so much
What about air intake manifold gasket do I have to change it too
Yeah, I'd recommend replacing this since the manifold has to come off anyways and you're already there. It's cheap insurance to get ahead of a gasket that will probably end up failing at some point anyway.
Your video shows front intake manifold bolt but, how you did open back bolt please
I'd recommend looking at some used parts photos or diagrams to take a look at where it sits in the engine bay. I can't recall the bolt specifically, but I'm sure it took some wobbles and extensions, if not, probably a ratchet wrench with a flexible head.
Great video. Question, did you slightly lift the engine by the oil pan to do the passenger side? Did it damage the oil pan or warp it? Trying to figure out a way to raise the engine without having to jack on the oil pan. Thanks in advance!
I did have to lift the engine, but I don't recall how I went about it. I likely lifted it by the oil pan with a 2x4 piece of wood and only using the flat spot. I didn't leave the weight there for long and just made sure to relieve pressure if I saw anything go awry. It's kind of hard to see, but you can see me fiddling with the height briefly at 8:40 or so.
@@falqonslanding Thanks for the quick response! Yeah, I saw that movement too, but didn’t know if you lifted it in the area between engine and transmission or the oil pan. A lot of people say not to lift by the oil pan, but the 2ZZ-GE has very little area to jack under it (most is the pan). An alternative is to attach a hoist bracket (12281-88600) on the bolt on the left front side of the 2zzge head and use one of those engine stabilizer hoist tools that sit on body frame that they sell at harbor freight.
Hello, my car has Toe out and Im planning to buy theese, can you tell me how much it can extend the length compared to OEM arm? Becouse I need little long arm then OEM to correct alignment
Found these measurements in details on a website called semotors for the product: Measurements: Maximum Arm Length: 17 7/16" Minimum Arm Length: 15 13/16" Rod End Width: 1 7/8" Rod End ID: 15/32"
What unit did you get to fit the e90 trunk. I’ve tried a few with have a big connector and won’t fit in the stock trunk opening.
Mine was purchased through avin USA, but it was also very loose. I used some silicone sealant to keep everything tighter
Very similar issue on my 84 944. Cold idle, it runs fine. Not until I take it to 5k or higher that it starts acting like that. Even on startup. I have an adaptex damper on the way. Appears to be a direct bolt on replacement for the factory unit with some updated build quality. Did you have similar symptoms? Runs fine or runs horribly?
It ran horribly before the damper. Similar symptoms and if you pull the vacuum line off after running it for a bit you'll likely find fuel in there too
Took me 3 hours. Thanks to this video for making it feasible.
Thanks for coming back and dropping some thanks!!! Glad it went smoothly for you and that this video was helpful!
I can remember that you could buy a nice car for $500.00.
Hi Bud, what was reason you used relay setup on this backup install, was the power source from your Android unit was causing some issues on backup camera? Please advise.
I did it to prevent any issues with my existing setup. I read that there were a lot of folks who had interference or intermittent issues due to the lack of a relay. Figured it didn't hurt to try and figure this out
Did it fix the issue. Having the same problem Thanks
Yes
I'm having the same problem. Same vehicle. Thanks
When i went to the toyota dealership they Acted like you can't change the fuel filter because its in the gas tank
Sorry to hear that! Hopefully that gives you an opportunity to find somewhere that knows how to get to the fuel filter. Best of luck!
Can you tell me the part number from the motor mount that goes on the right where the serpentine belt is at. I order mines from rock auto and the holes don't line up because the check mark looking side dosnt line up its to high up. Is not flush. I got the other holes except the one that lines up to the the power steering resavor.
Hey there, I updated the description with the part numbers. Hopefully that helps!
@@falqonslanding thank you
@falqonslanding you bought yours from summit raceing anchor 9525?
@@falqonslandingthat's actually the right one all I got to do is remove the head like you did thanks man I really appreciate you.
Zermatt Silver crew rise up! The banjo connections at the fuel pump are a pain... I've used a very light application of thread sealer with PTFE on the copper crush washers to fill in small imperfections, but part replacement is probably the optimal way to go. Nice work!
!!! Happy to see you here. Your videos have been a great deal of help for me on this platform. That's good to know. If I have to touch that connection again, I'll definitely be considering that!
@@falqonslanding Sweet! Yeah, it definitely takes a community to keep these cars on the road. Looks like your post on the Radium fuel pressure damper should help a bunch of folks out. The OEM part cost is insane!
So i assume this will act as a auto switching module? Regardless which screen you have up, it will auto switch to camera when in reverse?
Correct, that's how it functions
@falqonslanding awesome, just what I was looking for
What's the torque you set those plugs in with?
13 ft-lbs for the plugs
amazing video
No anti-seize on newer plugs, right? I think it says on the plug packaging
No never use anti seize on new plugs. You won’t get a proper torque on the plugs.
You unhooked those two grungy looking things at either end of the fuel rail. Did you replace them with that green thing? What did you replace at 4:27? Is Radium Auto where you got the damper and ancillary parts? I ask because I’m getting my ‘88 Nine Forty Four back on the road after 7 years and wondering what can be changed out for 35-year old parts.
Hey there! Correct, both devices at the end of the fuel rail were replaced. However, there's a difference between the two in that: one is a regulator, and the other is a damper. What's seen at 4:27 is the new fuel regulator (Replacement P/N Beck/Arnley 158-0163). On one side (passenger), the regulator was replaced with the aforementioned, while on the other side (driver), the damper was replaced with the Radium Auto parts. The damper was purchased through Radium Auto's website. Ancillary parts I had to source through a variety of online sellers due to the wide variety of parts required to clear the mounting bracket for the old damper.
@@falqonslanding Thanks. That helps a bunch.
@@falqonslanding I should have asked this before but could you tell us the places you sourced these pieces? I’ve bern on Radium’s site and seen what I believe is your damper. I guess I must find out what these do so I can ask relevant questions and not look silly.
Sure thing, listed below and updated the description. Great video. What equipment did you use to clean your injectors?
I used a cheap ultrasonic cleaner and injector trigger, connected to a 12v power supply (lawnmower battery in my case)
