Same with combing Human hair! Always start at the strand ends and work up.
Rogue wolf ~ That's exactly what I came here to post! My own hair stopped splitting at the ends when I finally learned how to brush long hair... from the bottom, up.
And also don’t put your detangling products at the base of the main it cause dirt to stick to the crest of the neck it causes rubbing

I also had surgery 1 of 2 rotator cuffs when I was 50 years old. They took so long I just never got the second one. I'm too old to worry about it now. Prayers for recovery for Alan. Happy birthday.

An off billet will split like that if leather has dried to much, & pressure on dried leather cracks, splits as you well know. Oiling leather tack helps make them last longer as well presurve the leather. Glad to here your doing better Alan. GOD BLESS.

I tore 2 tendons out of my right rotor cuff & couldn't have surgery. It was a long 4 months of 3x per week rehab (or being tormented. take your pain pill before going!). I finally am back to 95% use of it 5 years later. It will be hard, but having made it to the other side, will be cheering you on. Your left arm, your legs & your eyes still work, so you can be doing little things and enjoying the horses you keep. They always need to be petted, right? I'm just a glass 1/2 full type.

I have had both sholders repaired over the years. After surgery it takes a bunch of therapy to get back full use. Saw sever quit therapy early because the pain. The doctor told me it would hurt but to stick with it. I told the therapist the first day I would never say it hurts but they might look for a drop of water in the corner of my eye. First one was three months three times a week. I have miniature horses now and have a freah loss of hide on my arm and know being around horses you can take more pain than most non horse men. Good luck and god be with you.

The timing on this video being posted was perfect as you had just come to my mind and I was praying for you and your family. I had thought I heard in a recent video you had tested positive for Covid so on top of everything else I was greatly concerned. I hope you make sure the bid is high enough that they don’t go to a kill buyer. People don’t realize horses can be shipped out of the U.S. to Mexico & Canada for slaughter. Many prayers for healing
The type of auction these horses are going to have brokers and people specifically there to get good riding horses. That’s all the auction puts up. There’s a few TH-cam vids of these particular type of horse auctions. It’s actually pretty cool to see how they run. None of the horses go to kills, they’re too valuable.

Allen/Blake..mane/tail tangles
When bathing horses you can use CHEAP Cream Rinse (for humans). It takes the knots out better than the oil does. I would wash mane/tail first then put CR in and let it sit while soaping up other parts. In OR we have a couple stores that sell it by the gallon. Lease try it then you won’t have an oily mess on everything. Good luck at the sale.

Olive oil would bring out the highlights in main and tail, and soften the main in tail. You will have to shampoo it a few times to get it out, but the results are beautiful .
When you get around to fixing your saddles don't cheap out on the billits and latigos. With leather, oil and conditioner are your friend. Maybe even consider a correctly installed double off latigo instead of an off billet. Heal well and you can check tack with one arm lol.

Beutiful horses
I just had a total knee replacement and I’m 74 years old. You’ll be fine as long as you do the Physical Therapy exercises before and after surgery. If you don’t, you will find the range of your arm movements severely curtailed for the rest of your life. It’s going to hurt at first but don’t let that discourage you. Just keep doing the exercises and you’ll be back in the saddle again.

Don't sell Spirit or Rawhide. Spirit is young and Beautiful, You could do a lot with him. Now for Rawhide, He has proved his worth and I would definitely Keep him. He can really help you with the other horses. I think he is quite valuable and so handsome. Blake, trust your gut feeling, but I still say, Keep those two Beautiful Buckskins. Great job btw !! If you use saddle soap and get your tack oiled it should last for decades. If it dries out like that cinch they aren’t really save to use, as you found out the hard way. Hope you heal up fast.
called, "off billets" because they're best REMOVED! Every rider deserves a cinchstrap on each side. Ride safely.
I had on one strap slit not both. After that I put a tie so it rip pass the next hole.

What's the price on rawhide and spirit?
Can you show how to tack up western tack, I use English but I've always wondered how the girth (sinch is it) on a western saddle works, it always looks lose, and the back strap..what's that about..its a very different type of tack..
