I love Nigel. He has been there, done that and now he is with someone that cares for him, maintains his health and interacts with him and he is appreciative. Yes, he is still in stallion mode but we love him anyway. Please give him a great brushing-so much hair, a treat, a scratch and a hug.
Totally agree! I’m a big fan of Nigel!
What is wrong with being stallion?
@@EvelynTokampNothing. Sometimes they want to be friendlier than their pasture mate wants and…Nigel is a bit smaller than the other horses. So, for his safety…
@@sharonrimsza7960 Thanks for your reply Sharon. I still think that CC knows exactly what she does with her horses, what with her vast experience. ;)
Nigel isnt happy about the shedding because he probably eants to keep his hair. The coat acts as insulation against heat too.. not just cold. And he's old... he probably gets too cold at night.
Nigel has a spunky spirit. I love that he's living his later years under such good care. ❤
Huckleberry and Frisco: "Weee so JEALOUS!"
Nigel: "You can have her, please take her away. Im so over this."
One of my friends had a really cute gelding dapple Shetland pony named Dusty. Every year she let her summer camp kids de-shed and shave him as the first of summer projects. Pretty much took a whole day to do. As a testament to his temperament, he enjoyed the heck out of 6 little girls primping and pampering him all day. He was over 45 when he passed. He is still talked about fondly.
Over 45!
My friend had a grumpy shetland boy too, didn't like adults much or strangers but if there was a little kid riding him he'd be so careful he didn't walk through a puddle but would jump over it, haha hardly safe but what if it was two meters deep and the kid can't swim? He had to do extra.
"Since he's out of steam, it should be easy to catch him." ...
Nigel trots off briskly. 😍💖🐎🇨🇦
I adore Nigel. He is just such a classic grumpy old man. He's worked out all the tricks he can to avoid being caught and made pretty. Such a character.
Nigel may not appreciate you like you deserve, but we sure do. Thanks for sharing your adventures.
The very rare, wild, Teddy Bear Appaloosa. Famous for hard judging their owners and hatred of spa days. Only exception is the shaky shaky plate. What a stud. ❤❤❤❤❤❤❤🐴😍
His coat is a testament to his ancestors . He is the quintessential tough pony. This is why he is such a great survivor . His coat is made for really tough conditions his ancestors had to endure. I hope you get him body clipped with less trouble than you have to endure yourself. Please keep us updated on his coat condition. He is such a cutie and a great little man. Love always SYD and Sophie 🌷😊🌷🐕🐾💕🐾💕🐾💕🐾💕🐾💕🐾💕🐾💕🐾💕
That's the first "man bun" I've ever loved.
😂
same
Only 67,000 of us saw Nigel. Lol. The looks from the dog!🤣
Yeah, the dog looked pretty judgey to me too.
That shaky plate was such a good deal! The animals seem to love it.
I want one now for me lol
I’m a total novice - what does the shake plate do? It is like a massage for them?
What is a shaky plate for? Have never seen one in use except at a gym for humans and i dont even know why a human uses one.
@@adellewhite5646 and @mircat38 I googled it, various sites have various claims. Can’t type much now but some benefits I saw for horses were circulation, reduce soreness and stress. They seem to be used for weight loss in people.
A hundred years ago and more, horse hair was used to stuff upholstered furniture, and chopped and mixed into plaster to strengthen it as a base coat for lath and plaster walls. I've wondered how hard it was to collect all that horse hair, and now I know - it's a major spring crop for horse keepers!
That custom haircut for Nigel is part of what I love of CC’s channel. Sometimes things don’t go as expected.
Huckleberry is just making sure mom gets some R&R and not working to hard by getting her to sit on the shaky plate with him ❤🐕
Part of his job 😊
“He would be quite happy if I just fed him and left him alone most of the time.” I never related more to a horse.
He's the cutest little horse with his perky trot and don't bother me attitude! It's wonderful to see how much you care about your horses. We admire you so much! 🥰
For an old horse/pony like Nigel - shedding at the appropriate time of year in an indication of GOOD HEALTH. ! Good job CC ‼️
Huckleberry judging you for your clipping job and Huckleberry snuggling with you on the shaky plate - this is why I love your channel! You include the best moments of barn life. Also Tiny and Nigel both could fill like a whole novel themselves! 😊
👍
Their antics would make wonderful children's books....
I just love this little guy! Watching this video I feel like sneezing🤧🤧🤧 Nigel is a handsome, little pony who deserves all your love & care at the during the last years of life. You are wonderful!
seconded! and my back hurts watching poor CC bending🙈
I'm glad that CC is getting help on the shakey plate too!
Maybe use an office chair w wheels as a grooming tool. You being comfortable counts.
I think you could sell or donate his hair to a fiber arts venue (fiber weaving and knitting stores, Etsy, etc). Some Northwest Coast Indians have made traditional blankets out of their dogs’ hair much like Nigels. You could collect it all in a pillow case for when you have a good amount. The crafters will just tease and card out the dirt, just like a fleece. Nice job taking sweet care of this cutie. I chuckle at all your funny observations. I can relate to him; I’m 83. Love his man bun and braided chunky mane😊. Love his little prancing. Love your background music. Peanut butter and jealous? Hysterical episode.
‘Indigenous peoples of the Pacific Northwest once bred dogs in large numbers and sheared them for wool’
Is a the by line from a New York Times article By Lesley Evans Ogden from Oct. 9, 2020. I tried to put up a link but YT is blocking it. It can be found most likely with a search engine.
My back and knees hurt just watching this & I feel coated in horse hair 😊 You are such a gem for caring for this tiny hairy guy. Nigel is a special lil stinker ❤ so cool to see the different tools. Great video! Thank you!
You brushed half of a Nigel away. 🤣😂😅🥰😘
Oh my gosh I had to laugh at how dirty he was after all your hard work. He’s such a naughty Nigel.
He’s spicy
Huckleberry wants the same treatment 👏👏👏
Omg his little man bun! His wee shaggy belly! His braids! Why is he so cute? I want to give this tiny old man a smooch on his spotty little nose. ❤
Love Nigel! Every time I see him I expect to see a tiny horn sticking out from under this forelock. 😉
He looks like a little unicorn.
Only one?
I was raised with ponies on my grandfather's farm. I love them. I'm 70 now so it has been a while.❤
Lovely experiences and memories. ❤
After the shock around 33 minutes, i was howling CC. You'd think Nigel had been looking like that for weeks. Talk about being dragged through a hedge backwards. He was stunning up to then. I swear they do that to get back at you. 🙄🤣🤣🤣💙
This had me howling too! 😅
It made my day Sunny. 😊👍
That’s identical with the springtime groom of a fluffy longhair cat. You’ll be sneezing out the finest underhairs for days !
How about those translucent or minutely thin pieces of hair stuck in your eyes. 😂
Leaving all of your camera drops in the vid makes me chuckle every time.
Cinéma vérité 😉
I love them.
Huckelberry’s side eye 😂…. That was him saying …no ma’am, you are not doing that to me…..😂
Looking at Nigel after he was bathed and then rolled in the dirt made me laugh. Yes, he looked quite proud of himself!
"Peanut butter and jealous"... what a line, so using that phase next time its needed in my day to day life lol. Look forward to the next episode
I love how he prances to and fro to get away from you lol...
Huckleberry given you the side eye was so funny when you tried to clip Nigel's body.
Oh Nigel, you’re such little imp, that’s why we all adore you ❤
He is such a little Monsieur Bonn Bonn! This little guy and his sassy irresistibly cute nature is so endearing. You can't help but smile.
He has lovely suspension in his trot! Many ponies 30 years his junior do not move so freely and lightly, but just clomp around.
I know you’ve had his DNA done, but do you think it’s possible there might be like 0.001% Woolie Mammoth in his ancestry 🤔
🙄
Nigel with his 'man bun' and his prancing it just double and triple cute, although he takes you for a ride trying to catch him!!
Poor cc sitting on the cold hard floor while Nigel is on the shaky playe
😍😂😍
Maybe she could make a cushion and stuff it with Nigel fluff so she doesn't have to sit on the cold floor!??
Your such a great animal mummy! They and we love you… have a lovely weekend, try to rest your back.
the look after he rolled after his bath was hilarious!!!!
O my god, he was sooo filthy after he rolled after the bath
I was so surprised to see all those video clips of you deshedding and trimming Nigel! That was alot of hard work!! Nigel doesn't know how fortunate he is to have you as a hair beautician and pedicurist! Im glad my cats don't roll in their litter box after l comb them!
Nigel is one beautiful lucky dude to have you. I appreciate your hard work and how you care for your animals! You are so dedicated.
There's never too much Nigel! So wonderful he gets to spend his twilight years under such kind, meticulous and understanding care. ❤
Nigel looks so much better! This is probably the most handling Nigel has had his entire life. His old owners probably just left him out with a herd of mares all the time.
Nigel is not appreciative is he? He looks so much better already. I remember what a hard job this is. The shakey plate is an amazing device. Nigel is quite a character
Big Gus, Little Gus and Grumpy Gus (Nigel).
@zenkohlrabi Lustig, Ihr youtube Name. Werde mir den vielleicht klauen, aber dann mit Spitzkohl, denn ich liebe Spitzkohl! ;)
What a mini wooly mammoth! “Peanut butter and jealous” had me smiling 😀 I think a body clip is the most efficient way to manage this little one. Clippers are definitely a good investment in his case. Your time is valuable. Thanks for sharing the struggle. 😂💜
I’m right there with the animals on the shakey plate! My bed is an adjustable bed with massage motors in it and it’s my favorite place to be at home. I’ve become spoiled to this kind of bed and to sleep in a regular bed is almost unbearable! lol
Nigel is one handsome little dude!
Hello the Clever Girl, love my sweet Nigel, ❤❤❤and of course "Tiny"
Little Nigel is a pretty big handful isn’t he. Much love to you and yours.
Oh, the irony: Nigel wants no special attention; just feed him, and leave him -- he doesn't even want you to see him eat. what a little adorable curmudgeon he is! Meanwhile, de-hairing that little pony takes as much time as five full-sized horses. You are so dedicated and he is a very lucky, grumpy old pony. He did look better and better, until the end, that is, when your multiple clippers failed you. You are a good soul, CC to persevere with what Nigel needs, not what he wants, while the rest of your animals (except Tiny) are trying to guilt-trip you into giving them Nigel's time. What a funny bunch of characters you manage :) They all make me laugh and smile.
I cannot help but post again how wonderful your videos would be for children in preschool and to elders in a care facility. Some things never lose their ability to fascinate.
Your video production is excellent your mix of music is effective; it is slight enough to not dominate and yet lend to a very relaxing feel.
A good tip when working with horses and canines as you said is to end a task with an element of agreement.
Thank you once more C.C., watching your video’s straight on with no stopping is the highest compliment I can give. 👍
its good that he can trot around so much, its lovely to see :P
I am LOVING every second of this video!🎥 I don't think you know how LOVELY & engaging ur videos are, CC.❤ Ur self deprecating sense of humor & kindness are sooo endearing! Nigel is 98% attitude & we ADORE him! His little trot is the CUTEST!❤🤗🐎 🐴 Happy Saturday!😊
Nigel says he’s happy
He must be Happy
He must be Happy
He must be Happy in his world....
CC that’s an 80’s song ...called Making Plans for Nigel: Song by XTC
Nigel is amazing and very patient after you start to groom him ❤
Huckleberry faces are hilarious 😂
Lol. CC used that song in a short of Nigel about 3 or 4 weeks ago.
I absolutely love watching you interact with Nigel❤. He’s an amazing spunky little man and he definitely lets you know when he’s had enough of your pampering, especially after his bath when he goes back to his pen and rolls around the dirt 😂😂. I’m sooo glad you rescued him and are giving him his best life in his old age♥️♥️.
Huckleberry is your road trip protection! No pooch could have a more important (tho part-time) job!
He is a little stinker. He is so adorable. Goid thing he has you as his caregiver.
I have to admit that I laughed out loud when you said that you were going to try to not get covered in hair. There was zero chance of that happening! 🤣🤣🤣
We love u too Huckleberry ❤️🐶
Oh my goodness! That Nigel! He floats when he trots now!! His man bun… 😂 you are so funny!!
Thank you so much for this great video and thank you for demonstrating such kindness and humor in all you do!!
Love Huckleberry, Tiny and Frisco too!! They are all stars!! 🐶 ❤
Hysterically funny video - I enjoyed it immensely. Made my day.
Mine too, CC is so funny.
Nigel deserves an Oscar! Or a few treats! lol! poor boy! I think I'd be in the hospital with another back surgery if I'd been the one brushing him! glad my boys are Horsey size!
Nigel is so cute!! His little prance...away from you lol
Nigel is such a cute little yeti. ❤
The Nigel grooming videos are a lot of work for you but a very enjoyable serotonin boost for all the viewers. 💟
That's an impressive amount of horse hair. Nigel is such a beautiful boy. And Huckleberry and his pathetic looks and his judgmental look at the end, my goodness, he is an expressive dog. He also is a pretty boy.
Master manipulator!
I really appreciate that you share all your trials; a lot of pet ownership is just trial and error, and hoping for the best. You know Nigel at least doesn't care what his haircut looks like!
Nigel prancing around makes me smile and laugh. He really is a cute old pony.
I really enjoyed this. He is such a big personality in a tiny body. Give Hucleberry a hug from me. 🥰
Well. That was informative. It makes total sense that a Shetland would have an impenetrable coat. I never imagined the hair would be that long.
New subscriber. I've loved horses all my life but I'm in the city, so my only exposure is the police on horseback that patrol the city trails where I walk my dog that is a double for Huckleberry. Nigel is beautiful, love the markings.
This was such a fun and funny video. I especially loved the video of him filthy that day after you left him in the dry barn. You are so thoughtful and caring. Thank you for sharing your love of these horses. I am not a horse person, but you have really helped me understand them.
Poor little Nigel. lol It is like he doesn't know how lucky he is.
I love Nigel. He's so pretty
He has the cutest prance 😊
... 2 days later ... 😂😂😂
What a mammoth task !!
Well done for all your hard work.
I think it’s hilarious how those animals love that vibrating plate.
Nigel With his bouncy trot ❤❤❤🥰🥰🥰
Nigel knows he was bad , the way he looked at you and looked away 😅😅😅😅sweet grumpy sassy Nigel ❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤🐎 🐴 ❤😊
OMG ... we've all been there. You start a full body clip but can't finish. It'll drive you crazy until the new clippers arrive, LOL! Nigel is looking handsome, though! ❤
WOW was that a lot of work - I hope all of our pure joy at you sharing him with us helps, CC….he’s a ⭐️
Goodness when he turned you could see how much had come off the the other side! He’s so gorgeous and definitely a character!
Love Nigel’s spunky prancing, maybe Huckleberry wants to be shedded out also. The more you work on Nigel the younger he looks!
I just love watching your films - I LOVE little Nigel, his independent ways, and the mischief he applies to proceedings in order to maintain that independence. You have done such a wonderful job of de-hairing him for the Summer. He will appreciate it when he is not too hot later in the season. Since he dislikes hugs, please give him an extra handful of grass cuttings in his porridge from me. And give that gorgeous dog a hug and a pat from me. And Tiny.
Oh My he is a Spicy little dude! Love Nigel! That’s gotta feel better!
Nigel is looking great! It makes me so curious about his previous owners, and his foals out in the world. I love Huckleberry’s different color eyes!
Well, after your clipper extravaganza…Nigel looked depressed. 😢 😅 but he will be fine when you quit “styling” him. I loved this video. Well done. ❤
Oh, what a job Nigel is!! 😅 A previous comment said his coat was a testament to his ancestors and boy that is the truth. I can’t believe how long the individual hairs are! Also can’t believe it’s 75 degrees already in Montana!! (I live in Eastern Washington). Nigel is gorgeous once he has his summer coat! Can’t wait to see if you finish the clip. 👍❤
He looks fantastic
Nigel is so cute. I love watching him trot around (away from you. I wonder who taught him it was frightening to get caught).😊
I love this grumpy old man 😍😍😍
Rocking the Man bun!😂😂😂😊 Huckleberry’s a good reminder that he has your back (pun intended) care on his watch list.
My goodness, what a bushy boy! Nigel has so much personality. You need him and his challenges.
his personality is hilarious ❤
You are such good entertainment. I love watching you as you work your animal companions. It is such a joy to spend part of my day with you. Thanks for sharing your life and your love. Namaste'
Nigel is worth the effort! Thanks!
Oh CC, you didn’t half make me laugh at the end of the video when you said how Huckleberry was judging you. His eyes said it all. 😅
That’s some workout Nigel’s given you, wow you’re not wrong, he’s a little hairy mammoth. Your arms must feel like dead weights after all that bless you.
What I love about you is that you know your horses so well that if there’s the slightest change to them, you can pinpoint it to a product you’ve changed. Your horses really are in the most amazingly knowledgeable and loving hands. Thanks so much for sharing them with us CC.
