    Dr Shereen, I'm not black and yet a 5% glicolic acid gives me a tanning effect next morning when I wake up before even going out. Dr Vanita Rattan is not a dermatologist, but she is a skin care formulator who specializes in skin of color. She doesn't recommende glicolic for people who tend to tan. I think it is working for you because you are very fair...

    There’s a brand here in Brazil called Creamy, they have amazing Lactic, Mandelic and Glycolic acid products for something around 11 to 13 dollars (I have all of them in my collection). I apply Mandelic or Lactic every night and Glycolic once or twice a week, my skin very resilient (to the point I can use retinoids every day and don’t even get a tingle) and it’s so much glowier after I started using them.

    Hi Dr. Idriss, thank you so much for your videos. Greetings from India!!! 🙋
    Learnt so much from you regarding these acids since Indian cosmetic industry is now raging with multiple acids and we all fall for their marketing. Kudos on that Hyaluronic acid video btw!!🙏
    Just a suggestion. If you could also mention the acid % for the right amount of exfoliation then it would be great. Since these products are not available in India,it's difficult to find the right kind of product that would match the efficiency.
    Thanks again!!

    I often read that acids are deactivated if you apply a moisturizer right after, because the acid needs a low ph to do its job. However I find it quite drying to leave the acid on for 20-30 minutes. Can you explain whether it is really necessary to wait?

    • @maxbaltz2490
      @maxbaltz2490 3 ปีที่แล้ว +6

      I definitely wouldn’t say that’s necessary depending on the products. Leaving on a serum or a toner until it’s dry should be sufficient. Only thing you don’t want to do is layer a serum or moisturizer before using an AHA or BHA if you’re looking for maximum effect. Also with AHAS you want to avoid formulations with oil or serums contains oil before hand. AHAS are water soluble acids so oil confuses them, which will give you inconsistent results. Hope that helped. :)

      @ManUntdForever 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I use tret gel 0.05% five nights a week and exfoliate with an AHA twice a week. If I feel like my skin is feeling raw/irritated, I take a night off from all actives and just make sure to moisturize really well. Just make sure you pay attention to your skin and always be on the lookout for any signs of irritation. If you want to incorporate an AHA or a BHA, just start slow; once a week.

    Thank you so so much for the great videos!!!..I'm addicted to your channel. I was just wondering whether or not it would be safe and a good idea to use glycolic acid while also using an LED face mask (I bought the one from current body as you suggested)? And would one use the glycolic acid only on the face or is it safe to use also on the under eyes? I have quite sensitive skin... Thank you in advance for any answer that you might be able to give me :)

    Thanks so much for sharing! I love this channel. I'm just wondering how come you recommend Loreal products and then Sunday, Kate Summerville etc? I would have never thought a skin expert would use Loreal products, is the formulation really good? thanks

    The video is so educational, LOVE IT!
    I have a question, in some countries, like mine, l’oreal does not sell the glycolic acid that you show in the video, instead, they sell the peel-pads, do you think they are good as well?
    Thank you so much for these videos I love them so much 😍

    Thanks for the informative video!
    I use (only at night) this HYFAC global care, for like one month now and it seems effective (for my mixed skin that tends to break out).
    It consists piroctone, olamine and glycolic acid (among others).

    I have sensitive skin and I was wondering is it ok to apply lactic acid serum and leave it on for just 10, 15 minutes and rinse it off like with some stronger serums instead keeping it overnight? Will this do the job and how long should I keep it on. Thank you very much

    I’ve heard a log of mixed feedback on this: if I’m wearing my IT cosmetics CC cream almost daily that has spf 50 in it, do I still need to apply a sunscreen? Love the knowledge and facts you’re spreading! ❤️

      Ofc you need the cc from it are not enough because sunscreen you need to apply 3 fingers tips amount. You are damaging your skin.

    I’m curious as to why you say avoid Salicylic acid if pregnant. Case studies have shown that there’s very minimal systemic absorption so it would be highly unlikely to cause issues. I’m just wondering why you recommend lactic and glycolic over it?

    Hello Dr Idriss😃I have a question about Mandelic Acid.I am using the Mandelic Acid Treatment product of The Inkey List - as it's the only product that's available here in my country and apart from that, it's the only one that's affordable - and it states in its product description that Hyaluronic acid must be used beforehand. Is it really a must? I already know your point about hyaluronic acid but I just wanted to ask just in case. As a college student who can not visit a dermatologist often,I really benefit from your videos a lot even though, 99% of the products you recommend are not available here,at least they help in terms of ingredients.Thank you very much in advance.Hope you can reply back🤞Take care😄

    I currently use pha on my cheeks and bha on my t-zone once a week because I'm pretty sensitive (I have some rosacea) but also acne prone. Maybe I'll try a gentle aha, like the mandelic, sometime when I'm sure my barrier is healthy.

    Not acid related but since you encourage wearing sunscreen so much, I’m wondering if babies (11 mos old) should wear it even if they’re only inside? But there are lots of big windows in the house.
