- Purchased on eBay for about $20 plus shipping "parts only". 1 bridge rectifier, 1 extra light bulb for the rear light, and some general repairs and it's up and running!
Here's a video that Ed Berg did on the full set • Lionel Commando Assaul...

Nice addition to your growing collection. Switchers can be a whole lot of fun - especially with operating couplers and a siding or two! It's a clean looking unit that looks as if it hasn't been run very much. I think you did well for $20 plus shipping. Nice upgrades by adding the bridge rectifier and extra light bulb. Thanks for sharing another project with us!
Thanks Brad, I spotted where a newer version has coupler arms that are centered (vs flopping around). I might have to look into some of those.
Nice score on that little switcher. If Lionel had installed a rectifier back in the day, it probably would have sold better. Here it is 40+ years later, and it’s running well. Great job Jeremy! Tom
Thanks Tom. I'm glad this project turned out well in the end.
Lindsay made an H.O. model of this Witcomb switcher in the late 1940 s. I have 2 of them and they still run well.
Great work and an awesome price.
Thanks, I'm glad it worked out well
Well done 👍🏻
Thanks!
Cool find Jeremy.
Thanks, it is a bit different with the camo paint
