The Non-Canon Expert looks at today's fourth and final issue in The Rise of Kylo Ren comic series, explaining the final steps that would bring Ben Solo to his path with the dark side to become Kylo Ren and make him leader of the Knights of Ren, and also how Kylo Ren was about to construct his red lightsaber.
This is a Canon story for Kylo Ren and the Knights of Ren with information found within today's issue of the "Star Wars: The Rise of Kylo Ren" comic series. I hope that you enjoy it!

Cal Kestis: Used both part of his broken crystal to create a double bladed lightsaber that could split into two for Jar'Kai moves

What do we learn from this? Splitting your crystal in two makes for cooler lightsabers

I believe most double bladed lightsabers have more than one crystal.. Maul's had I think more than two. The only one that more than likely has only one is Exar Kun's
Omega The Myth yeah, because unless I’m mistaken, a single bladed lightsaber already has two crystals: a source and a focus.

After watching this, I REALLY wish they had made a prequel style trilogy of movies about Ben's descent into darkness
I don't know about that. It sounds really hard to come up with a logical reason for someone to turn to the dark side and murder countless innocents.

@Bruce Wayne there was very high leaps of logic within anakin's decent to the dark side, and that's sorta what defined Darth Vader self hate cuz even he knew he fucked up.

The knights of ren had so much potential, yet they were used so vaguely in The Rise of Skywalker. So sad.
They were used too little in the whole trilogy. They were already a thing in TFA.
They are an awesome concept who were simply introduced too late in the trilogy to deliver on that potential
It was a really good issue, but at this point I am honestly only invested in seeing Palpatine mess things up for everyone. Of course we know that he loses at the end, but I just can't help enjoying good old Sheev have fun

Kylo is very interesting, he isn’t like anakin where he fell due to fear of loss and the temptation of power. He felt he was betrayed by his uncle, who put his family name of skywalker and the legacy on his shoulders, and felt his mother and father dumped him with Luke because they couldn’t deal with him. His reasons for falling weren’t in temptation or fear of things, but through pure hate and the feeling of betrayal from his family and friends. It’s why he is my favourite character in the sequel trilogy. He never fell because he wanted to like anakin ( for reasons already known) he fell because he believed he was in the right and his family wasn’t.
Might've been more interesting if the trilogy was about him instead Rey.

That's part of the reason that I kinda dislike his turn, but there is no way to turn dark side without becoming an edge lord it seems
Chaos well he is less mature than anakin, and besides, he’s meant to be a younger and slightly more arrogant version of Vader. and who isn’t an “Edge lord” when they go dark Side? hell at least it isn’t Hayden christiensen (cannot f ing spell it)
@@thebigidea9659 probably but I always saw Rey as the light and the reason to guide him back. She helped him to become better and while he died in the end she was there to see his return to the light and was there to see his sacrifice. It's why I love them as a couple
These comics make me like Kylo way more. By far my favorite character of the new trilogy but they should have included some of this within it.
This really hammers home why Ben is so adamant about "letting the past die/killing the past". To him, people look at him and see nothing but the past - his first name is the one Obi-Wan took while in hiding. He is of the Skywalker bloodline, which means people always expect things of him because of it.
Even with Snoke, he's under the pressure of the expectations of his "legacy". People have only ever seen him as the legacy he represents. It seems rather clear that, under all those expectations, all his anger and hate towards his own legacy, he broke at the point shown in the comics.

@@pascalhicks4376 his family on both sides are famous regardless. His mother the smart and awesome princess and general and his father a famous smuggler turned war hero
@@Catalyst375 yeah I really liked that Rian focused on him as an anti hero while JJ limited his screen time and only offered surface stuff. I hate how limited Adam too. Adam has range for days and he really gave it all in this performance.
I really liked Kylo Ren’s red lightsaber
I'm glad we know the background to his lightsaber now. I wonder how he was able to know about the ability of bleeding a kyber crystal. Right now I'm thinking Snoke, or perhaps a lesson by Luke during his time with his Jedi Order, but I think it would be nice to see how he knew that part of it. Thank you for watching!

I believe Kylo is my favorite Sith or Dark Side user next to Darth Malgus simply because of his struggle and because of his potential mixed in with what’s modern.

I wish there is an origin story about him. Where he came from? Was Palpatine 'the master' Ren mentioned? So much questions left.
If Ren meaning the former leader of the knights of Ren would’ve been Kylo Ren‘s master I think we would’ve seen another dynamic of Sith master and Sith apprentice it would’ve been pretty cool

They have Adam Driver, a two time Oscar nominee, an actor that Martin Scorsese himself has praised as *“One of the best actors of his generation”* a prequel movie, or tv show needs to be made on this character, following his training and relationship with Luke, his relationship with Snoke/Palpatine, his fall to the dark side and they can show just how far he had fallen, this is where they can go full evil/Vader with him considering it’s the beginning of his dark side path, the 6 years before the Force Awakens.
We know Snoke had other apprentices, so they can have Snoke with another apprentice at his side when Ben arrives at the throne room for the first time, this other apprentice can be portrayed as Kylo’s enemy/friend/partner, they can have them fighting side by side in the earlier parts of the movies/tv show build a sort of bond between them, but as time goes on it leads up to a massive dark side saber fight between them at some point in the end, where Kylo obviously wins and kills this other apprentice, this would be a saber duel between two dark side warriors trained from childhood, so it could even look like a prequel style saber fight, where force lightning is used, it would have a KOTOR era vibe to it...just imagine Kylo walking away from the dead body of the other apprentice after a long drawn out duel, with rubble and fire everywhere as a result of their fight, with Sith Eyes and “Anakin’s Dark Deeds” playing...
I’m telling you there is *so much* potential with this character.

@Pascal Hicks Maybe he didn’t want the weapon that caused so much misery and like he said, let the past die and that saber is part of his past.
It’s likely at that point Ben no longer wishes to be anything other than himself. Neither a jedi nor a sith. So he discarded the weapon that belonged to both factions.

@@californiansniper2133 All it actually takes is time spent to do it. You can be a bad writer and still make a story which can be nominated for Oscar (not giving guarantee that you are gonna win) if you spend time with your story and collect.

Great video :) I figured the crystal bleeding process was the reason behind it cracking. Glad we finally got to see the backstory and it was interesting to see that he successfully bled it without being shown force visions

Great question! A few issues back in a conversation with Snoke, it was one of the aspects that Ben Solo was angry about, where he was named after Obi-Wan (i.e. Ben) when he didn't even know Obi-Wan. He also thought that he was then expected to live up to that legacy as well, which was a significant point in this issue today too. Thank you for watching!

@@chriseyes20 I get it. I don't mind that much. I mean, 200 years ago things were quite different. You won't be able to find pictures of the year 1820, considering that permanent images were first produced succesfully in the mid 1820's. Let alone all the advances that came after that. And societal change is more marked and accelerated, the more technologically advance a society becomes. Considering how advance SW thechnology is, changes should even be more marked. Lets just hope the writers take advantage of this.

Never heard of Snoke gifting it to him but he probably still had the idea with the crossguard from some ancient designs

It'd be funny if Ben didn't actually screw up in bleeding the crystal and it only broke because he physically clenched his fist rather than only using the force.
I never cared for Kylo Ren to much, but if some of these aspects would have been implemented in the movie I would have actually liked him a lot better. Even the fact that his eyes became Darkside eyes would have made him much cooler. I hated the movies not implementing Darkside eyes especially on Snoke. Great vid. Keep up the great work

Palpatine wanted to merge the Jedi and the Sith. Ben didn't want to live in shadow. he didn't want to be Sith or Jedi. He just wanted to be himself.

Kylo is indeed menacing once he bled his lightsaber red, and seeing Sidious here puts a smile on my face, clarifying the events that indeed Palpatine manipulates during the events of TFA/TLJ/TROS. I knew that he’s alive during those years, as the most poserful Sith alive, he always have a contingency plan.
